I like how he pretends to think.. when he already knows the answer... This is not an insult. This is a compliment. This man is next level. He wants to answer the question before the question is even asked.
mega bullish on DOT. i have my bag staked via ACALA LDOT .. 16% apy which is quite nice for now.. Big expectations for the next year. Thanks for interview
It’s interviews like this that compliment my own research to convince me that Polkadot isn’t just some “crypto.” It’s quite literally the most realistic forefather of decentralized computing. Forget crypto for a second, if you just look at how many mechanisms in society are converging into decentralized systems, it’s pretty evident that Polkadot is the future. Humanity needs Polkadot.
With Jam chain not being upgradable, I understood that upgrades would come via services. However @gavofyork mentions hard forks a few times. Could we get a little more info here? Polkadot 1.0 never needed hard forks, as I understand things - which was a good thing… right?
Yes that's right. JAM intends to be a much simpler protocol for running complex software - today's Polkadot for example. The Protocol itself should be so simple that it doesn't need upgrades and therefore can be a stable environment for building upon. He mentions hardforking only in the context of changing DOT tokenomics if it is enshrined in JAM.
@@TheKusamarian So ideally DOT tokenomics would sit outside of JAM, as a common-good service. This way they would be upgradable without a hard-fork….Do you agree?
I think the idea is to provide economic certainty that is more investable because it can’t be changed. This is why it should be baked into JAM and IF there would be a need to adapt (which gab goes on to say in 5 years hasn’t been the case once) one could do so via hard forking.
Can someone point me to the artist that created the soundtrack? Could it be the JAM artist himself? 1:38:30 Edit: As per proposal details #777 - Leif Wyn track ‘CIRRUS’

Where does all these upgrades leave parachains like Moonbeam and Astar? Are smart contract L1’s still necessary? These projects have all gone very quiet….

Beautifully done ✅ looking forward to jam being implemented. Will be voting 🗳️. Everything spoken about over the years makes sense with jam.
I like the accord tokenomics idea of max π supply of $DOT with a deflationary curve + coretime burns
There's a referendum #851 right now on Polkadot subsquare to fix the max supply. Please vote
Nice interview!!! I wanna be a polkadot developer!
Damn, I wish we could get quality content for MINA like this. Moon bags are packed, DOTs gonna change the world!!
I’m very excited to see how Dot will perform this coming 18months
Not so good! He should have started and implemented JAM during the Bear market. JAM is years away!

Need more of these insightful interviews!

at 1:04:20 he said a push to get something finalized by the end of the year.. Does he mean getting JAM completely going?
Hm maybe he meant a final design - all research concluded? What do you think?
@TheKusamarian probably that, but he did imply a sense of urgency to get jam out and going.
He specifies later on: final draft (subject to changes) hopefully EOY and up and running mid 2025. would be incredible!
Damn this is so well done
Great work gents
We be JAM 'en
