@@makeithappenwithjayinZBrush Will do thanks... Oh, I have a question, do you know a good resource where I can learn to properly retopo a very heavy and highly detailed armor set? I sculpted a study of Vitaly Bulgarov's Knight From "Mortal Shell" and I don't know the right way to unwrap or retopo, Thanks for the reply! it's greatly appreciated!
@@NME10E Honestly I do not have rich experience in retopologizing, but as I know retopo is different depending on your aim of that specific model. Sometimes it is just doing desimation works, sometimes hand retopo using ZBrush, 3Dcoat or other alternatives should work, it is just tedious work. Best way in my thought is taking decimated version high version, unwrap them and bake. I hope I could explain my view. Good luck buddy! Keep on trying!

Hi, nice tutorial, what is the reasoning behind step 3 and 4, whereby you isolate and use the back part of the mesh, instead of isolating the front and using that?
Hi! Thanks for the question and like! I do chose backside of the mesh because it is the closest part to the body, i.e. it makes easier to extract from that to outside rather than the other way around, because if I chose front side of the mesh it is possible that it will change its shape when I bring it to touch the body. I hope it helps. Peace
hi, one noob question but I don't know what to search to find that info, how did you hide the hand when you were making the second armor part? thanks a lot for the tut!
Thanks a lot Anik! Appreciate it very much! Sure Anik no problem at all, I am glad to help you out! You should press Ctrl+Shift and press and don't let go the left side button of the mouse and drag it out until you cover the areas you need. Hope this helps. Thanks! If I could not answer please let me know.
Hi Rael! Thanks for your comment. Here topology was not a primary aim. It is about how to make armor in ZBrush, rather than how to prepare it for game. For game you should bake low poly to higher. Depending on the game you can probably can use lower version of this armor right after extraction, or you can go even lower when you extract and then keep than one in separate subtool to use for baking after you done with detailing in higher version of it. When it comes to my thought of approach, since usually games require as low as possible and armor does not change its shape in animation as it is hard surface part, so it doesn't require perfect topology or dense polygons, I would probably decimate it using decimation master or just do manual retopo right inside ZBrush using ZSphere retopology. I hope it helps. Peace
Thank you so much! Appreciate it! I would make duplicate of the extracted mesh and then use it as a source of projection. After you finish ZRemeshing the form you can use duplicated one as the one to be projected on. Second way is probably playing around with ZRemesher settings to keep that form. Third way is manually retopoligizing it using ZBrush ZSphere retopolgy or using other software to retopoligize. I hope it helps, and please do not hesitate to ask any further questions. Peace
Hey man, love the video! Can u just help me navigating edge brush, I installed it and load it into brush but just nothing happens, I cant choose or see what types of edges I have, I did everything u told in vide but still nothing happens. I have my auto show/hide turned oN in IMM Preferences/UI/IMM Viewer. Pls help :(
Hi Luka! Thanks for the comment! Sure, I think you should check the ZBrush version first, and here I used ZBrush 2022.0, so make sure you have at least 2022.0 or newer versions. Another reason could be that you have too many brushes on your ZBrush brush presets, you can fix that by saving these brushes inside Lightbox on ZBrushes folder.. You should copy these brushes into Windows C(or other disk where Pixologic is installed)>Pixologic>ZBrush 2022(or other version number)> ZBrushes>Choose any folder inside that folder(I would put inside "Insert-IMM"). Reload ZBrush, then you should find it inside Lightbox>ZBrushes. I think if you try this it should work, I hope it works, if not please email me via jaypeace_art@yahoo.com so we can solve this issue. I hope it helps, Sincerely Jay

when i taper the ends of my imm brush does not snap to the surface... it offsets a little bit above the surface of my mesh, any ideia on how to fix that?
It happened also with my sessions. But for some reason it was ok in earlier ZBrush but when I tried to make in newer which is 2022 version it had little elevation. I tried to change it in Brush setting, which was depth and attraction level, which helped little. But usually I manually brought it back. I hope it helps you too. Thanks for question.
Sure! They work almost same, just QMesh has function of sticking into geometry around the area where you extract. So, I would say Extract works even better than QMesh sometimes. So you can use it with no problem. Thanks for your comment! Good luck!
