I feel like feedback is the main thing that causes this. When driving in real life you can feel the car moving and know how much you're steering, braking, etc. A game can be so disconnected from that, that people will lack a sense of control.

i always thought it was funny how people can drive in real life (for the most part) but then as soon as you give them a controller or put them in a video game where most of the same car logic and physics apply,

i remember when i was a kid i tried to get my mom to play mario kart 64 with me and she tried to turn the controller to turn the kart and drove straight into magma but the best part is, she drove very very slowly and couldnt wrap her head around just turning the thumbstick xDDD
