Today I am working on my 🕷️ MILLE ARACHNE pattern 🕷️ with a rainbow theme. I love using this color palette because it ends up looking like a stained glass window!

I recently learned that up until the 60’s, girls in Devon, UK, only went to school half a day because handmade Devon Lace was still THAT important and it took so long to craft a piece.

Of course I love white lace but I love colors. This is intriguing.
It is actually much easier to follow the process with the various colors. You get a better feel for what is happening, how she decides what to cross, etc.

How do you go about starching your dragons? Do you take the pins out first? I am just thinking that if it was pinned it would ruin the pattern?
I leave the pins in when I spray the stiffener! And take them out once it’s dry.
I really want to learn this, but I got cats that definitely would 1. ruin the work and 2. hurt themselves if I did😅

When u r done how do u remove this from the board?
You just take out the pins. 😄
Can you put these smaller pieces together?
You could! But if you wanted a bigger piece of lace, you could use a bigger pattern with a similar design. 😊
What are the pins for? Why do you need to pin as you work?
It forms the shape. It appears once you progress enough the pin is no longer needed and can be shifted downwards
