Good day. You've got elk, mule deer, white tail & some moose in your backyard. That is really nice to see. Nice herd of them & they sure look like they have fine quarters. I've never eaten elk but we can buy it along with bison. Very expensive though. Thanks for sharing & have a great day.
Good morning Gary beautiful scenery in the mtns with the elk in the background. I got to see 13 moose herds up here in the mtns this winter in one spot . 😊
Nice ! Back in the early 1990's before the wolves, when I used to hunt your area I regretted not having a video camera ! I would lose count of the elk after 60 or 70 in a herd !
Wasn't that great? North Basin is in unit 29 and a draw tag only. Big herds of 100-200 head back then and big bulls too. Everyone wanted to draw a tag to hunt there! Now.....you don't hear anything about it. Pretty sad really.
Good morning Gary, Those Elk are sure looking in nice shape. Been a easy winter for them so far. We get to see so many things that other people don't. Have a good day my friend.
Very nice. Love watching the elk. Last night had a deer come look in my living room window after dark. I live on the edge of a small town and see them frequently, but that was the first time I've had one actually come look in my window at me and then go up the street to the woods. There is nothing to get the old ticker going like having them close and being able to watch them for awhile.
Gary, thanks so much for sharing. I have had the pleasure of hunting them several times, but was not successful in bagging one. The trip was worth the effort. Merry Christmas my friend. PB
Good morning Gary. Nice to see those elk. The bull you were trying to locate was the fifth or sixth one that went up the hill in the first batch. Looked to be a large spike. Thanks for sharing.
Great video. Beautiful animals! You looked surprised to see them there, didn't you? Looks like this is a good sign, the wolves may be following the trail. Thanks for sharing, have a great day.
Really enjoyed that with my coffee this morning. Thank you. I trust you and Miss Cindy are doin' well. I sent an email earlier this AM with info about a Main St. visit. Soon be time to start with Merry Christmas again, lol. Lotsa time yet though, where I live, anyway. Have a great day guys.
Good morning!thats why indians called them ghost of the mountains, wapiti.they can dissappear fast.i love elk.i love seein em,i love hunting them and i love eating them!nice herd for sure.thanks again and have a great day!
I think this video is really Santa scoping out reindeer replacements. With world population up, he has a lot more weight to carry and he knows elk are bigger and stronger!🎅🦌😮 edit: at 6:00 to 6:01 spike bill center screen. At 6:00 one side visible and 6:01-02 both can be seen. Thanks for taking us along. Nice to see them!
Had about 50 of them at my place the other night but still watched the whole video. I didn't hunt them this year because I still have some of the huge lead cow and 4 point whitetail in the freezer from last season. Nothing beats an elk tender loin on the BBQ.
Wow that is beautiful country I would think them wolves would be around somewhere where all them elk are hanging out but I’m just guessing thanks for the beautiful ride
It sure is! They should be close to the elk. I haven't found any tracks at all though, I think they are gone. Our wolf packs here generally run about 3-5 in number. If these have been taken out, more will move in, but probably not until next year. I might be out of luck this season.
@ well I hope it works out for you I caught a real nice Tom bobcat Saturday but I got thirty traps out I would send you a picture if I could thanks and have a nice day
Ive always been amazed how them, and moose, can move so fast, and so quiet through the thickest black timber and scrub and not make a sound. Was up on the last bit of road to the fire lookout on Bishop Mt in Island Park, the boy on the other side of the timber workin toward me, and 40 or so head come through all hell bent fer election, and I couldn't get a shot, cuz all I had was the width of the road to see em before they was back in it, and headed down the slope and on their way to the protection of the game preserve. Not a sound! Take er easy! Thanks fer sharin'!
Late season cow elk draw just opened up here, they gave everyone 2 tags to help thin the herds out a bit…. It’s quite something to see a hundred or more in a group chewing on a stack of hay then running across the wide open fields when the sun comes up.
This late in the season elk only one consistency. We're ever the lead cow goes the rest will follow. Elk is still at top of my favorite 🍽 #1 🦬 #2 alfalfa/corn feed whitetail 🦌 # Elk
We do. I don't think Idaho has been very good about testing for it though until this last year or so? It's hard to know how big of a problem it might be.
I guess the UFO’s finally dropped them off now that hunting season’s over. It’s the only thing that explains why I see them all year round except during the dates on my tag.
The elk sure are pretty and graceful animals. They make great dinner guests.
Awesome , you did still catch something , even if it was on camera ! I call that a great day ! Thanks for sharing. !!!!! 🙏👍😊❤️
Man, old man, that is quite a herd of elk I lost count after 30. That’s quite a thing to see that. Thanks for showing that to us Mr. muskrat❤

It really is neat. There's not as many as there used to be, but still fun to see them!
Wow ! That was a nice little herd of Elk. Thanks for sharing Muskrat
It was! I'm glad to see them!
The fourth one going to the right was the bull always amazes me how wildlife can live out in the cold winter thanks for the show
Thanks! Yeah, naked too! HA! People are wimps really. We couldn't do it for very long.
Good morning young man.
Nice herd of Elk.
Sure is pretty up there.
Have a great day
Very nice herd of elk! Merry Christmas, my friend. 😊
Merry Christmas to you too! I'm glad you are back!
Good morning sir! Beautiful views today with the elk.
Good Morning! Fun to see for sure!
Good morning Gary beautiful scenery in the mtns with the elk in the background. I got to see 13 moose herds up here in the mtns this winter in one spot . 😊
Good Morning! Very neat! I like moose. Not as many here as there used to be. It's kind of a treat to see them.
Thanks for sharing your time up on the mountain with us! Those elk are certainly majestic animals!
Thank you too!
Mornin brother nice herd of Elk enjoyed watching that hope you and Cindy have a good day👍👍

Good afternoon. That's a nice sized herd of Elk. Very promising for next year's hunt. Have a great day
I would like to try some elk sometime. I heard it's very good meat. Thanks once again Gary and have a nice weekend.
The sweet beef.
Witnessing nature and being a small part of it
is very rewarding ! Kinda high of my experiences in life ! ✌
100% Right! Me too!
Good morning Gary,
Those Elk are sure looking in nice shape. Been a easy winter for them so far.

Have a good day my friend.
They look good!
Beautiful Elk. Nice to see them.
They sure are.
Morning 👋🏻 Nice elk. Have a great day ❤🙏🏻❤️
Good Morning! Pretty neat to see for sure!
Funny you can tell the moment where most of them figured out you weren’t after them. Certainly neat to watch. Enjoy the day 👍👍
It is! I think they are smarter than they get credit for.
Very nice. Love watching the elk. Last night had a deer come look in my living room window after dark. VERY NEAT! A peeping Tom deer! HA! I think our dogs kind of keep them from coming around here. I wish they would, I like seeing them.
Hey Morning !!! Beautiful shot of the elk! That's what I miss out there. I wish I had never left.
Thank you! I love seeing them and the other critters too. It's an amazing world!
Man thanks for the video Muskrat. Really enjoy watching your channel man. Love the content. 👍🦌🦌🐦⬛🐦⬛🐿️🐿️🐿️🦉🦅
Thank you very much!!!
Gary, thanks so much for sharing. I have had the pleasure of hunting them several times, but was not successful in bagging one. The trip was worth the effort. Merry Christmas my friend. PB
They are fun to hunt, but a LOT of work if you find one! Merry Christmas to you too!
Good morning Muskrat! Nice looking elk,, Have a great day! Be safe!!
Good Morning! It was great to see some up there. Decent size herd too!
Love seeing elk. I love elk even more when I have one on my freezer. Some good eating.
Thanks for taking us along. Take care, see ya :)
They are good eating!!!

I was surprised. Sure not as many around as there used to be. This was a pretty big bunch for this mountain. Have a great day too!

HA! Thanks! There must have been two? The one I saw had branched antlers. Thanks!!
Howdy Friend , beautiful animals
Hello! They sure are!
The bull was in the middle of the screen at the 6:00 min. mark of the video. Thanks for sharing! Have a good day!
Thanks! I'll have to look.
Merry Christmas to you and Cindy!
I'm in the woods slinging steel. 🤓
Merry Christmas Al ! Glad to hear it!

It is amazing! Once in awhile a branch snaps, but that's all.
Good Morning 🌄
Good morning hillbilly beat me to it ha ha man oh man that is one beautiful mountain area and I love them elk
HA!
@@MuskratOutdoors hey 👋 brother.
Late season cow elk draw just opened up here, they gave everyone 2 tags to help thin the herds out a bit…. It’s quite something to see a hundred or more in a group chewing on a stack of hay then running across the wide open fields when the sun comes up.
It sure is! We used to have hears 200-300 or more strong. Not as many anymore though. This was a good bunch for where they are at.
Crazy how fast you start seeing elk when you don’t see wolves! Just proves how destructive they are on our other wildlife.
They move around a lot. With the elk there, there will probably be some wolves too if there are any left in this pack. I guess we will find out.
Good morning brother hope you have a great day today be safe out there brother
Good Morning!
Ain't it great to live in Idaho! Too bad it's full and no one else can come here.😂😂
Yeah....bummer! HA!
looked like a nice sized herd
Actually big now days up there.
Beautiful animals. We go to the Buffalo river to see them.
They really are. Their necks are almost Camal like.
Good morning muskrat from Alabama
Good Morning!
How do you tell the difference between them at a distance?
The bulls have antlers and are usually more blond in color. It can be hard to tell though that far away.
@@MuskratOutdoors Thank you. I wouldn't know what to shoot by looking at that herd.
Gary what are the dates for trappers convention in Salmon ? June?
I'm not positive of the exact date? It will be in June though. I'll find out.
A little taste of the real world, thanks
You bet! It's great to get away to a place less civilized.
Dang nice herd - sure would be nice to have one in the freezer right about now!
It sure would!
Small bull at the tree bottom at 6:00 exactly.
LIL fork horns.
Thanks!
they move as though they were riding on shock absorbers.
Amazing ain't it?
Good to see healthy elk , with low predators around. I didn't catch the bull was he a big one
The one I saw was average sized with branched antlers, but several said in the comments that there was a spike in this bunch too. I'll have to look.
You know I've never noticed you talking about it before. Do you hunt elk? Great eating animal!.
I do. We both had tags this year, but never saw any. I'm not sure I will buy a tag next year.
They know how to use the lay of the land.
They sure do.
All that caviar and no wolves, dangit!
Yeah....I'm thinking maybe there aren't any left here??

Very true! People think it's the Bull, but it's not.
Parts of the country they lay all over crowded neighborhood lawns.Seen pictures, would like too live it.
Estes Park Colorado is that way. Lots of elk in town, to the point that it's a problem.
Hope they make it
Me too.....
Thats a lot of Elk
It is! We used to have herds in the hundreds. I guess there is a big one SE of town. I'll have to go look.
Mornin' !
As thick as the deer in Iowa! I've seen herds over 30 running just outside of a big city here.
Neat! You folks have more deer than we do.
Do u have cwd in ur state seems like its spreading everywhere
We do. I don't think Idaho has been very good about testing for it though until this last year or so? It's hard to know how big of a problem it might be.
I guess the UFO’s finally dropped them off now that hunting season’s over. It’s the only thing that explains why I see them all year round except during the dates on my tag.
I KNOW! They are too big to hide as well as they do! Cindy says they magically turn into stumps and rocks!
Elk no wolves
I think you are right. No wolf tracks anywhere....
Clean out the wolves and u have more elk and deer.
Fewer hunters would help too. So far, this winter has been mild, that will help too.
Those elk look fairly FAT.......
They do look good. I hope this Winter will be easy on them.
