Brings me back to helping our neighbor as a kid. They had a Model A truck doodlebug which sat outside all winter. Every spring prior to haying season they would spend an afternoon getting it going again. It had flat copper strips coming from the magneto to each of the 4 plugs. They used it to pull the hay wagon. They would put one of us on it in 1st gear and were told to steer straight. I love the various levers that are on yours. Trying to remember what didn't work last time vs what is just stuck this time is always the trick. Beats going out with a brand new jeep and getting it stuck in a mud hole. Laughing all the way.
I love the old stuff that you bring back to life!! That can still be very useful to the guy who is getting it! That first backfire would scare most! Classic...lol
That's a WWII British (right hand steering is the give away) what we now refer to as a 3/4 ton. A lot of them came to Canada with our returning military units, and subsequently became military surplus, and like yours converted to different purposes. There is quite a history with these trucks. Good to see one being brought back to live.
Woods trucks are so cool. Loves these can you get them running videos. Some of the stuff you try to get running most would walk away from. You fix them like they would of back in the day. Too cool. The rebuildingnof that starter was priceless. Clean out the dirt, drop of oil. Some sand paper... brand new..lol. On another note. Brent where you get your oil fill can. Been meaning to ask you that now awhile. I like that unit
WOW!! This thing is so cool!!!.. I am a new subscriber because of the cool content!!.That laser rust gun was super awesome!!!...Thank you for sharing cool stuff!!-John
When strong needs arose back in the old days as they say necessity became the mother of inventions and thus skid steers and other contraptions were invented. Love seeing this old skid steer brought back to life. It was simple machines like this that built America.
I love those old contraptions, ie: Doodlebugs-homemade tractors, etc. Local farmers would use them as skidders and tractors back during the Great Depression, and would gang a couple of transmissions together to turn it into a real stump-puller. The more levers the better.....
What a ole piece iron, glad u gave it life again, great seeing u go back in time when u used it, great video, laughing all the way.....may u an ur family have a blessed Thankgiving day with family an friends,an pups also.🤙✌️👍😎
Fun video!! I think it would be great, (if you had the time), to take a day for something on the property and get it fired back up. Grease everything and make it so it will last for many more years to come..
A guy needs a cv boot to stretch over the shift handle, so it will act as an umbrella to keep water out of transmission. I used a cv boot on the fargo, worked awesome. Thats a cool ol rig, workplace health and safety might disagree😂 Works pretty decent, a coat of paint and it will be just like new! There are a few machines like that in farmer’s back 40 everywhere. I have a home built compact tractor i plan to get running.
That wheel. About a gallon of tire goo, run it a while. Remove the bolts, connect the valve stem to a o2 tank and run real fast. That rim will separate, maybe in many pieces, but. As a great man always says “ it is what it is “. Have fun enjoy. Mint.
When they will turn a little bit, often it is a ring of corrosion, usually on a cyl where a valve was open, the old 50/50 atf acetone, or just about anything greasy will free it up. If you are a poor viewer, you can put the piston to the cant move spot, then don't have to pour as much down its gullet. Modern auto transmission are such a pain, one of the first steps is flushing with a couple fills of fresh atf. I keep this "almost clean" atf for freeing up old stuck stuff, that way it's basically free.
That machine would never pass OSHA safety standards. LOL, but when that was made there weren't as many lawyers and the world was a better place lol. I really enjoyed this video. Glad you got her going again. You just can't hardly kill those old Chevy 6 bangers. I was shocked you got that old starter working after you opened it up and there was an inch and a half of junk inside. Be sure to cover up that carb again. Lol
That's right. I sometimes drive another vehicle like my tractor onto the tire to break the bead. I suppose a tire machine might be the best answer though.
Well let me tell you that is one creepy scary machine, especially that seat weld some eyes some fangs and it's a hollow eenn terror people would 🏃♂️ from IT. GREAT VIDEO BRENT WATCHED EVERY 👀 BIT OF IT. Man how could you sit on that monster seat.
Great videos, that tire i am sure running it flat will work that bead loose or just keep spraying the bead with wd40 or bead blaster when ever you think about it, i had a idea, maybe make some plates what each lever does and either attach to each one or on floor in front of each one etc, wish i was close to you i would love to work with you on these cars
Cylinder spray, a 50/50 mix of ATF and Kerosene. High detergent ATF and Oil Kerosene, give the ATF a few minutes to clean and the kerosene to oil! Relly rustie i used to let them sit 24 hours.
just put in 3 plugs if starter is having trouble cranking. I have just put in 4 plugs on a V8 because battery was low and wouldn't crank over with all 8 in. run a short time to charge battery.
That's one of the things I like about this channel. You never know what you're going to see get fixed. Keeps me coming back

Here in Germany it's 1:30 am, but I had to watch it until the end - otherwise I wouldn't have been able to sleep!
Thank you! 👍👍👍👍👍
For comfort, the mandatory head rest. The man sure does know his thing, and is more than happy, with smiles and laughter to share with many.
Great fun,Brent... unbelievable how that old stovebolt came back from the dead😎👍
Thank you for taking us along on your adventures. Laughing along the way.
I love the old stuff that you bring back to life!! That can still be very useful to the guy who is getting it! That first backfire would scare most! Classic...lol
Why do I find this contraption so beautiful ?
It sure has charm.
In my 50 years as a forester I have never seen a happier skidder operator!
And now for something totally different…. What a BEAST!! I can see a cab for it in a future build….maybe?😊

yeah believe it's an old Chevrolet 15 CWT

Great fun! Thanks for taking us along!
Man, the way you attacked that starter! Mortske'd be proud!
Mort only likes boys him and chew are lovers
No end to this mans talent , reminded me of the tv series scrap heap challenge. Cheers Brent .
What was old is new again here at Halfass Kustoms. This one of the most fun videos you’ve done, Brent 👍
Great program, that was a lot of fun. Thanks for sharing this. Take care my friend 👍
When strong needs arose back in the old days as they say necessity became the mother of inventions and thus skid steers and other contraptions were invented. Love seeing this old skid steer brought back to life. It was simple machines like this that built America.
How COOL is that Skider!
Thanks for the video Brent, Your friend will be happy to get it.

Brilliant video 👍👍👍
I loved it when you pulled out the laser suddenly. Laughed out loud literally. And the mint comment on the starter. You’re such a laugh.
Brent definitely is getting his money's worth out of the laser. It's the tool he never knew he needed until he bought it.
when you got out the pre historic slide hammer i knew you get those gears to move again.awesome job getting this monster running.😀😀
What a ole piece iron, glad u gave it life again, great seeing u go back in time when u used it, great video, laughing all the way.....may u an ur family have a blessed Thankgiving day with family an friends,an pups also.🤙✌️👍😎
Do not forget the Pablo seat. 😉
Boom goes the dynamite! Awesome!
Remember this Brent, constant pounding will flatten anything!!
loved the ending!
Love it she is a runner Thanks for sharing Kool
I can't believe you got it running , that's so AWSOME !!
I knew you could do it Ian. Just want to say hi to you all and hope you are having a blessed day God bless and have a blessed evening and night
I can't believe you got that thing running. Small miracles.
The struggle is real 😂
Great old machine, love your reaction when it backfired great little puller😀😀👌👌👍👍👍👍👍
You had me laughing today! Interesting piece of machinery!
Fun video!! I think it would be great, (if you had the time), to take a day for something on the property and get it fired back up. Grease everything and make it so it will last for many more years to come..
Cool. Looks like fun
NOW that's one very cool toy, bet in the day it was the best tool in the box for collecting wood. CHEERS
Amazing it’s alive
that waz a BLAST...THX😃

That was awesome ,,💯,, 👍
I love this this was totally awesome proves that old machinery is the best better than what you can buy today this was totally cool

Good old (216) babbit beater. My first car, a 1950 Chevy had that engine.
a home made Skidder. it's pretty neat
That's quite the doodlebug logger. I like it, and it didn't cost anything to get running.
That thing should be called the beast, cause that's what it is
Set of tires and that beast would really do good 😮
It's only flat on the bottom, if you go fast enough you can catch up to the top, nice going, Brent
Thanks. I needed that.
Well something a little different today. I hope your friend has better luck with it than we did. Be well. Hi Ester.
When they will turn a little bit, often it is a ring of corrosion, usually on a cyl where a valve was open, the old 50/50 atf acetone, or just about anything greasy will free it up. Cool ,i liked it Bud.especially old will she Runs.Thank you.
Uno! Lol id have to check my undies after that backfire ..😅
Hey Brent, You prove that almost anything (except for me) can be made to work again!😊 P.S. Drain the Diffs!
Nice job works good 👍
I could not stop thinking running it for 5 minutes around the yard once a month!!!
That machine would never pass OSHA safety standards. LOL, but when that was made there weren't as many lawyers and the world was a better place lol. I really enjoyed this video. Here in Finland, we don't use any more skidders. Mostly harvesters and forwarders. My local school has an old one skidder just for display.
He's gonna get that thing running again? No waaaay. WAAAAY!
That was fun. 😊
Great video !
I have to say thank you for the weird machine deviation from the Stude
Hey Brent
Most say that One kinde of a mashine, but dang it looks fun to play with😂
Looks like the seat has caribou feed on it.❤😊
All I could think as you drove it around; "give me forty acres and I'll turn this rig around.
Does the skidder come with a manual? LOL All those shifters. Great job bringing her back to life!
Another good one 👍👍
Well that was an interesting diversion. I think you have to break the tire bead with the rim half's bolted together.
That's right. I sometimes drive another vehicle like my tractor onto the tire to break the bead. I suppose a tire machine might be the best answer though.
You should get some slime.😊
Well let me tell you that is one creepy scary machine, especially that seat weld some eyes some fangs and it's a hollow eenn terror people would 🏃♂️ from IT. GREAT VIDEO BRENT WATCHED EVERY 👀 BIT OF IT. Man how could you sit on that monster seat.
43:32 LOL! 45:56 It 'Growled' at you. That would benefit from a Electric Assist Steering Column (Like in a Prius). I get 'Red-Green' Vibes.
Use too build log skidders for CLARKES in the 80s in St Thomas had a little different design lol
That is cool!
I think you got most of the arthritis out of it. But it still has a sore foot. Back in action
Its been a while since there has been a revival!!
Awesome!
“Cool Mad Max"

Vice Grip Garage would be very Jealous.
Scott at Cold War Motors has a 59 Buick flat top like the one by the skidder that he is restoring.
What a face lift those gears got.
When all else fails go to the hot wrench. 😊
Looks like you could knock down trees with it instead of cutting them down!😆
Good video
If the shit ever hit the fan. You'd sure be "the guy" to have around.... You can fix anything!
Split rims are easy just pry off outer ring and remember what position it was in remove tire and put new tire on and put the ring back on
No modules or sensors were harmed in the making of this video
just put in 3 plugs if starter is having trouble cranking. I have just put in 4 plugs on a V8 because battery was low and wouldn't crank over with all 8 in. run a short time to charge battery.
Use carb cleaner to start it I find it works better than starting fluid 😊
Love it 😂
love it
Sounds like the exhaust pipe is full of water acting like a P trap.
Thats a 4 speed granny low with reverse i have the same trans in my c10 i believe its called a 420
Check your shorts bro!!!
