I'm European but same hahaha My sister and I are the only ones in the family that do that. I'm kinda "cheap" and I don't like the idea of wasting paper just to make a present look cute because it's bad for the environment. So, I tend to buy gift bags so that the receiver can repurpose the bags for other people or for other stuff, and I save whatever wrapping paper is good enough to reuse in the drawer under the tv
