Great review as always! FANG is one of my favorite Cobra early vehicles and it was depicted in the animated episodes quite often, being flown by multiple characters. It is fast, small and quckly deployable copper, whether you want to grab some Fort Knox gold bars, or tactically retreat to regroup and fight another day.
FANG, HISS, Water Moccasin... The absolute best, and as it turns out, some of the least expensive vehicles available when they where released. Was great being a kid then!
The exhaust port is actually the gyrocopters' thrust as a jet engine. It's not a helicopter, the blades aren't driven, they autorotate by air pressure.
The Negator Bomb negates, and the other ones don't. What's so hard to understand? 😋 Great review. This was my very first G.I. Joe toy before I even knew what g.i. joe was. Had a lot of fun integrating it to the rest of the line once I caught the Joe bug 😁

I got one of these online, and I think the roll bar may be a poorly resin cast copy, but I'm not sure. It does not want to fit onto the helicopter. It does have a little flex to it, but I don't want to force it. The problem is I don't have an unbroken roll cage to compare it to. I don't think I have ever seen an unbroken roll cage. How can I tell if the piece is original or cast in resin?
i dont hate the fang per se...but i so wish it was slightly bigger and had a canopy. i could see it as a personal transport for higher ranking officers, e.g. cobra commander...but as a standard issue war copter for an army out and out it sucks. i think the fang overall was a missed opportunity. with its color scheme could have been a GREAT frontline asset for cobra. as is...i put it in the same category as i would slaughter's tank, serpentor's hovercraft, zartan's swamp skier..etc etc etc.....
I had a friend who had like 10 Star Wars Stormtroopers. He was frequently asked to participate. Army building is something that I enjoy more as an adult now. Im sure my parents could have afforded it, but they likely didn't want to spoil me or step on a shit load of action figures at night.
I always ponder how this could be depicted in a movie and in a more realistic way without it being different. Maybe just having a canopy would be enough, with the rotors a little higher.
Good review! Both of my childhood Fangs are in terrible shape. Broken skids on both, one has broken blades. I think i had 2 because a relative got me one that didn't know I already had one.
Again your bringing up "cracked heels". Of my multitude of figures they had lost many a thumb and crotch, but never had they cracked the foot (heel). What the devil did you do to your toys man? I know the instructions show helmet cobra commander, but for your namesake, should of broke out the hooded one. Unless that is you are off camera wearing a cobra commander hood. That would be BAD ASS. Loved the review. Dude you know how to break down a toy from top to bottom. Including the box and artwork. Impressive!
Cool! I have this one, but is is missing some parts! Its propeller is broken off! I have it though! I was not going to buy it, but the guy just gave it to me! I took because it has the propeller! I would have tooken it any! I wanted one for my Cobra Commander!
I am just starting to get into GI Joe. I had a few. My Main focus Is transformers. But I think I made a decision.I just might go for all of Corba everything cobra. I had some tigerforce when Younger. TMNT is My 2nd & power rangers 3rd. Planning to get a few things at retrocon Saving 8 grand for that show. Saved all summer long.. That way I don't have to pay shipping for each & every Item. I think My main focus is everything Cobra & all tiger force. I think There is too much on the joe side.

A negator bomb is a shell that, after dropped, it breaks open and an alligator flies out to attack the enemy ;-)

I had one! I used to mow lawns and buy all the cheapest GI Joe toys I could afford.

HCC, here's an idea; use WHITE GLUE to attach rockets; it holds well, but the water-base adhesive doesn't harm the toy! I use it myself!

I had the tank but not the helicopter. I got the tank at a garage sale. I might of gottn a few of them that way. I wish I had found a few helicopters.
The FANG was always connected for me with Ms. Baroness ... First time I saw this chopper in comic ... On 89 I saw FANG II but he was air plane ...
