Arsenal signed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in January 2018, so when he "signed da ting" in the summer of 2020, he had only been there for 2 and a half years, not 4.
Ornstein does a lovely long monologue giving away his hard work for free instead of pushing his article. Good guy and fascinating insights. Thought the other guys might say something afterwards at least 😅

@@mriya2vool Obligation to buy means that you are committed to buying the player post loan - the borrowing club has no choice! Whereas an option to buy is where the borrowing club does not have to buy the player at the end of the loan
@@KRONIKBASS808 also, clubs don't always cover loan signee's wages 100%, and wages tend to go June to June, so you can essentially get another year on the contract by kicking it back to the summer.

It will be a sunny day in Manchester when Rashford & Casemiro leave the club this month. Absolute financial drains on the club and tactical anchors. 675k a week combined for 2 players who would need to fight for a spot at Burnley.

Maybe if you give the janitors another paycut your finances will improve, right? Take away the cafeteria staff bonuses while paying $100M for Antony. Despicable club.
Yep some players definitely have conversations with their agents and also club officials. Club officials have conversations with other club officials from their own club and other clubs. Agents have conversations with club officials and other agents. Depends what the wife wants though at the end of the day
I think the issue with Arteta is that he chooses when to be ruthless. He’s very particular about being ruthless to certain players and not to others. For example, the Auba incident of him having poor punctuality. An incident like that shouldn’t change the relationship you have with a player yet it did with him. And then there are other players in the current Arsenal squad who have been cruising for the last year and consistently giving 3/10 performances yet Arteta chooses not to be ruthless (so it seems).
Can you defer contracted wages in the PL? In the US, teams sign superstar players but often defer a chunk of the guaranteed money (see Shohei Ohtani). So for example, if Liverpool agreed a £400k per week 2 year contract with Salah, could they defer, say, £200k of that to be spread over several years in the future rather than the full £400k each week? This lightens the immediate financial burden on the club, Salah still gets his money but they'd be paying him into his 40's when he is retired. Would be really good to get thoughts and opinions on this 👍
It’s a good question. I’m not sure on the legality of it where it regards PSR and so on but I suspect that teams would be reticent to do this anyway as it would embolden already greedy agents to ask for even larger sums with the understanding that it could be deferred.
22:00 Lenny Yoro "going to be one of the best defenders in Europe if he isn't already" What? The guy who just arrived to a relegation-battling team that's known for destroying young talents who go there?
If you take VVD or Salah out of Liverpool then they are unlikely to win anything. If you take out TAA, Liverpool will continue to win. TAA is not a good enough player to be in the top paid players at Liverpool. You can't build a winning team around a RB. TAA isn't even in the same league as Cafu, Javier Zanetti, Lilian Thuram, or Guiseppe Bergomi. Yes, he can pass/cross a ball but not good enough to play in midfield like Beckham who certainly could pass/cross a ball like no other! Is TAA's ability to pass/cross a ball enough to build a team round him or make him one of the highest paid players at Liverpool. Not convinced. 4-5 seasons ago Robertson was just as effective on the left but no one was demanding him to become of the top paid players at Liverpool.
Watching Liverpool fans suddenly admitting that TAA isn't that good is just hilarious after they defended him to their death for the last 2 years when everyone was saying that he isn't that good.
