That ruler method was new to me. Like just about every other sewer i use Kallax shelves. I mostly use the comic book board method and make my own baby bolts of fabric. I love the look of it but it’s not quite the best use of the space. I’m going to give that ruler method a go and do a ‘fabrics per cube’ count. It looks like you can fit far more in each cube by ruler folding. That means i can hoard even more fabric! WooHoo! 😂

The only thing that makes me sad is my long quilting ruler is 8”x24” sigh.

I also find the comic boards don’t work best in the cubes. I prefer them on a shelf.

Brilliant, thank you Katie! I am not a quilter, but I had a 6x24” ruler that I can finally use, lol! I have the IKEA Kallax shelving units in my sewing room. I just tried this on a few pieces of my fabric. It is so tidy and you can see everything you have so much better! Now I know what I am doing this afternoon! ❤️👏🏻👏🏻🇨🇦👏🏻👏🏻❤️

I make comic boards by buying foam core board at the Dollar store and cutting it to about 7" x 10". It's sturdy, and I get about 6 or 8 pieces per sheet. But it does take more space since it's thicker. Poster board would work too. I'm going to try the ruler method. Thanks!

Loved the ruler method for folding. I do have some comicbook boards to try. Do you ever tag the fabric as to how much yardage there is on each piece? I find this very helpful.
