    I understand about the cooling part, this fan will turn on once it hits the temp without the need for the entire hvac to run.
    But how is it going to help to warm the room during winter?? Withouth the heater turn on, this little fan wont do warm right ?

    Got 4 of these for our upstairs rooms for summer. They definitely push more air through! I set my threshold temp for the vent at 70. So at 70 or lower reading in the duct they will kick on speed 10. They seem to run pretty constant though. At 6 watts per unit I don’t think it’s too bad compared to switching my ac to on instead of auto and having the blower run all day.

    It does NOT tell you the temperature of the room. It tells you the temperature of the air from the ac/heater. When you set its temperature, you are telling it what temperature you ac/heater puts out when active. That way it turns off when it detects the heat pump or compressor is off. It does not work like a common thermostat.

    • @Kitearmy
      @Kitearmy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah but it is already screwed up because you have rooms that are not cooled or heated - worth a shot

    • @lablover3112
      @lablover3112 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your static pressure sensor will kick your fan speed back down if you have some vents shut creating too much back pressure. The reason for this is, say you are in high heat mode but several vents are closed and not enough air is flowing through the heat exchanger causing over heating this is a back up safety. The same for cooling not enough air flow and your cooling coils could ice up and stop air flow. If you have enough vents in your home you might be able to shut some vents where not needed and still not trip the static pressure sensor. Zoning might have helped and maybe still could check back with the people that just got paid to fix your problem

    My house has one of those forced air style heating systems too, but the problem my house has is it only has a single giant vent right in the middle of the fist floor of my house at the bottom of the stairs. And you would need to keep all the doors inside the house open for the heat to get into the rooms. Then you have my bedroom, which yeah, its right next to the giant vent downstairs. But I have computers and other expensive electronics in there and we have one cat that likes chewing on wires and another that likes jumping on top of everything and trashing tables and desks. So I have to keep my door shut all the time, which makes my room ridiculously cold during the winter. We did add another heating vent that comes off the furnace and into my room, but by the time the heat reaches the room, its just not strong enough to come out of the little vent we have in there. The heat just stays inside the vent and never comes out. Would this register booster be good enough to help pull the heat out and into the room?

    The filters being used are for very heavy filtration like for air purifiers. Most HVAC systems aren't designed to use these because they aren't able to force air through them. The average home most likely doesn't need the filtration he's showing unless it has a HVAC system that's designed for them. The filters he's showing are what's called the MERV category and their use tends to be for hospitals and the like. While having MERV filters in the home would be nice, they require an HVAC system that's designed for their use. This type of filter is very restrictive and could be causing his problem with the rooms that are either too hot or too cold. I tried a similar version of these filters from Scotch that weren't nearly as dense as the Nordic Pure filters that he showed. And they ruined the way my a/c operated resulting in a damp house because the humid air was being blocked by the filters and wasn't able to sufficiently make it to my central a/c unit. As well, it strained the a/c fan, so that it didn't deliver as much air coming out of the ducts.
    For a/c, the best filters are the angel hair type, as they have a high flow rate and allow your a/c unit to filter out contaminates that pass through them.
    For heat, I've found the best filters are the next version up from the angel hair type. And adding a humidifier into the system will reduce contaminates from the air and make for a much more comfortable home.
    Another problem that can cause rooms to be too hot and too cold, is duct work that's misadjusted. All properly designed ductwork has adjustable dampers on each branch allowing for settings between the dampers being fully open to fully closed. Always check the damper adjustments first when a room's temperature is too hot or too cold.
    The drop-in floor register with the fans that he shows, should always be a last resort. Correct ductwork and correctly adjusted dampers are key before looking into alternatives. You may need a professional to do this, and if so, request a service call to "balance the ducts" or "balance your HVAC system."
    If you need professional help, I recommend that in advance check any businesses record with the Better Business Bureau. Yes, they still exist and they're free, you don't need to pay for Angie. I started doing that several years back and as a result I've been able to locate the best and most honest businesses near me. www.bbb.org/
