    I just bought a new 2018 Yamaha SMAX, the PCX's primary competitor in the USA. See my detailed review where I compare the SMAX to my old 2015 PCX 150 here: th-cam.com/video/UqeUL8SbCe0/w-d-xo.html

    I will be buying this scooter soon, it just seems far better than anything the competitors are offering.

    Mine was delivered to me on July 20th and I love it. So far I am averaging 102 mpg but of course I am still in my break in period.

      Congrats! Please do a top speed run once you have it broken in and post up what your speedo indicates. If you have a gps speedo that would be nice to know as well, thanks.

    Greg, what are the pros and cons for the ABS and how important is that to you? I'll be buying one of these in the next few weeks. Thanks

    • @iberian21
      @iberian21 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      ABS lets you have max breaking without worrying about locking the wheels. Locking the wheel causes a lot of riders to loose control and wipe out. So with ABS if you need to stop quick just grab the brake lever as hard as you need and no worries. When the ABS kicks in you'll feel the brake lever push back at your hand, that's normal, just keep braking. Non-ABS you run the risk of locking up your wheel and losing control of your motorcycle, but some riders MAY get a bit better braking action and MAY get shorter stopping distance if you handle it right...but overall, ABS is safer overall specially if you really need to stop suddenly without much time to think. Hope this helps.

    I have the Philippines 2019 150cc version in Matte Silver of this scooter .Looks identical to this one and comes with ABS. The price I paid was about $2400 USD. It has the Honda smart key and hazard lights....It is a great little scooter. I also own a 2016 Honda Click 125i...which is a great scooter too.

    • @gatorgreg1565
      @gatorgreg1565  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wow that's a great price! Here in the USA, the MSRP is $3,699 for the base model and $3,999 for the ABS model, plus a "destination charge" of $380, and we don't get the smart key either :(

    Howdy Greg! I subscribed to your channel because I will eventually be a PCX owner myself! I honestly can't wait. I've been researching and salivating over a PCX for many years. My wife thinks I am absolutely nuts when I watch scooter videos on TH-cam. If I have that much fun watching someone ride a scooter, just imagine the thrill I'll gain when I finally ride one in real-time! :) I live in Ohio, so the climate in my neck of the woods isn't as forgiving as in Florida, but I'll just have to dress for it when the colder days become a reality. I plan to purchase the 2019 version. I like that color the best and I'll save a few dollars being an older model. Anyhoo, thanks for sharing your videos and keep them coming! I plan to do the same once I get mine. Cheers :~} HS

    I can easily get around 45 KM per liter for daily commuter ride in Jakarta's crowded traffic, well that's around 112 miles per gallon in USA term. Of course, i am riding it quite economically (non aggressive, safe riding), and also activating the ISS (Idling Stop System) which helps tremendously in long red light waiting at the cross road. I use RON 90 gasoline for it, and it's fine.

    • @gatorgreg1565
      @gatorgreg1565  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ABS is a $300 option in the USA for the new 2019 model. The 2019 looks similar to the outgoing 2018 but it is pretty much an all new generation with a whole host of changes including new frame, 149cc engine (down from 153cc for 2018), new digital dash, beefier tires (100mm vs 90 in front and 120 vs 100 in rear), etc, etc.

    Does the usa model have rear disc brake and the europe one a drum? Or disc brake too?

    • @gatorgreg1565
      @gatorgreg1565  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      USA model has drum in back and a single disc in front with optional ABS on the front brake only. I'm not sure what rear brake is used in Europe or Asian markets.

Believe me I found out the hard way, bought a 125cc thinking I didnt need anything well i got pulled over and they gave me a warning after that i got my M2 it's easy. I now own a 2014 ninja 300.

      An indicated 118 - 120 kph (73.3 -74.6 mph) according to a couple of YT vids I’ve seen, which would be a nice improvement over my old 2015 model. The ability to do a solid 70 mph on occasion would be perfect for a scooter of this size IMO - I wouldn’t really want to go any faster on a scooter. I’ve also seen a couple of vids showing the new model supposedly doing an indicated 135 and 141 kph (83.9 and 87.6 mph), but I’m skeptical it can really do that and I doubt I would ever want to go that fast on a scooter.

      Gator Greg And it all depends on your body mass. I'm roughly 130 lbs, so it may give me a little speed advantage.

      I had a 2011 Honda PCX 125 and loved everything about, except that it topped out at 55 in most cases, 50 on an incline or headwind. It had done 60 on rare occasioms, but stars had to lign up just right I guess. Real world top speed was between 50-55. It was a BLAST to ride, but most of the open roads in the Central Florida area that I rode in were just too fast for it for me to feel confident. I only put 7,000 miles on it in 7 years and just recently sold it to a co-worker. It just sat most of the time while I rode my faster scooters, which werent nearly as much fun to ride, but didn't feel so overwhelmed on major roads. I REALLY hope these new 150s make the PCX much more friendly and confident on the faster roads. 70 would be great. 73-74 would be out of the park.

      I currently also ride a Honda CTX700 with the DCT automatic, which is my first "motorcycle" following 8 years of riding several different scooters, primarily a 2011 Burgman 650 (until the CVT went out). I love the CTX, very strong acceleration and effortless highway cruising, but I really, really miss having a scooter.

      J G Weight will not affect top speed, the only things affecting top speed is the amount of power you have and resistance(aerodynamic drag, rolling resistance, etc.). Weight only adds interia will slow down acceleration and braking, but will not affect top speed.(unless you are planning on going lightspeed)

    Not sure how I like the new front fascia, but I hear this new model will have a hybrid twin, with ~120 mpg.

      I didn't buy it so I don't know. This non-ABS model was priced at $3,699 plus $380 "destination charge". Most dealers in my area will try to charge a set up or build fee as well, add on tax, tag, and title and you're looking at roughly $5K out the door.

      Carlos Gomez I wouldn’t buy it yet I’d wait until next year to see what people say about it because the 2018 PCX had a lot of engine troubles,,, I wanted a cheap little scooter to put around on I decided to go with the 2017 Honda ruckus 50cc(actually I think it’s 49 cc or there abouts) liquid cooling,,, slow 35/40 miles per hour great gas mileage lots of fun I got the black one looks like something Darth Vader would ride
