David is just one of the most classy, graceful guys ever! You'd never expect such humility from someone with as much incredible talent as he has yet there it is. Same with Kelsey and John.
David Hyde Pierce won the Emmy this year solely for that scene in the episode Three Valentines where he set Frasier’s couch on fire. Hence the “I’m glad I put on pants,” comment.
No he didn't! He made the comment because he was being handed the emmy by all those women. It was a double entendre about covering up an 'erection'... I am glad I put on pants i.e. I am glad no one can see my boner.
Always happy when Kelsey and David won! I just wish the academy had the sense to give John, Peri and Jane their Emmys too because they certainly earned them! I mean, the fact that Jane never got one in season 7 after such an amazing job with Daphne's arc that season is a crime!
Having just recently watched that series the lack of reaction for some of the significant events ie Frasier's letting slip it was Niles, them admitting feelings for each other, their kiss and the first time Daphne called him Niles really took me by surprise.
DHP is a CLASS ACT. When he won the award the year before he immediately paid homage to Phil Hartman, and the next year he gave a shout out to Sean Hayes, who was just a goofy guy on an as yet un-nominated show thus far. (It had gotten one directing nom in the Emmys that year, but that was it.)
When Kelsey won the year that John Ritter was posthumously nominated for 8 Simple Rules, he gave a lovely tribute to him at the beginning of his speech.
I'VE GOT A FRIEND FIRST TIME I MET HIM IT TOOK ABOUT AN HOUR BUT I TOLD HIM "RYAN IT JUST HIT ME YOU KNOW WHO YOU LOOK LIKE"? DAVID HYDE PEARCE!! AND HE SAYS I'LL TAKE THAT BECAUSE HES A VERY POPULAR AND ACCOMPLISHED ACTOR 😂
Comedy in 2020 can't hold a candle to the sitcoms of the 80s/90s/early 2000s. Veep, Schitt's, Office, Mrs Maisel are all terrific comedy products. But they can't hold a candle to the originality and quality of Frasier, Cheers, Raymond, Seinfeld, Mary Tyler Moore. Not even close.
Your damn right! :) I will also add Golden Girls, WKRP in Cincinnati, Barney Miller Married with Children, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Malcolm In The Middle and The Bernie Mac Show.
I noticed that David Spade seemed to be a sore loser and did not appaud when they announced DHP as the Winner. Then again, maybe he thought because he is not Politcally Correct all the time even before people started using that term- they weren't going to vote for him to Win the Emmy.
I agree......There's a reason Fraiser won more Emmy then any other show....37 in 11 yrs........the actors were the best.......I watch repeats every day and still laugh at their antics......
I really do not think so. DHP was the reason everyone watched Fraiser. No really really liked Fraiser all that much, if you stop and think about it. We watched for Niles and Daphne. Martin was gravy on top, and Fraiser the obligatory green bean casserole or sweet potato fluff. When a supporting actor carries a show, he is more than deserving of this Emmy award.
@@RT-vw6yw You are out of your mind. Grammer was brilliant as Frasier. All of the cast members were brilliant in fact. David Hyde Pierce is great, but he did not carry the show in the slightest.
I can't doubt the mans acting talent. But the Niles character was implausible . The fact that an obviously gay persona like niles ended up married to the likes of Daphne Moon almost made me upchuck. And how come the 'eminent' Doc was never at work? But was always round Frasiers ? Allegedly sniffing round Daffers. And the obnoxious old man and his vile chair would have long been drop kicked off the balcony, left to me. But oh hey ! It was in the script........
RIP John. You are a legend.
Captain Awesome very sweet moment when David Hyde Pierce acknowledged him
“The greatest honor the academy has ever' given me is to put me into the same category with John Mahoney”
Loved that selfless comment
I loved John Mahoney💓💓
David is just one of the most classy, graceful guys ever! You'd never expect such humility from someone with as much incredible talent as he has yet there it is. Same with Kelsey and John.
Seems that whole cast was selfless and a team. Kelsey and David shared their wins with the entire cast.
David Hyde Pierce LOVED Sean Hayes. When he won that following year you could see how happy he was. Such a lovely speech.
they both might have dated secretly back then. lol
Sean Hayes was at home watching that speech and was shocked by that name drop. According to him.
"and sean hayes - oh he wasn't? WELL HE SHOULDA BEEN" ---- *and from then he won the following year.
He really should've been! He's hilarious

It's ok most people don't give a crap about the awards anyways
@@grant1739 Yeah now but back then they actually meant something. Tv was incredible at that time across the board.

I wish we could've seen more of him on TV after Frasier ended
@@sensimania David actually refused to do tv after Frasier because he said that he knew he'd never get anything close to Frasier again on television.

@@kendallrivers1119 he was literally in Julia last year
He never failed to make me laugh outloud whenever he was on the screen.
Just watched "Perfect Host" again. Still LOVE DHP he is awesome.
I LOVE DAVID HYDE PIERCE

David Hyde Pierce has great acting on Frasier in season 6. David Hyde Pierce has better acting than other actors in this category.
It’s the robot again
That was a great season!
Just heard David Spade tell the story on fly on the wall when they called out David he was half way out his seat
That's why I'm here, too, but definitely exaggerated. His feathered hair barely moved 😂
The BEST Actor. The BEST Role. The BEST Character. The BEST Show. THE BEST EVERYTHING!!! #WellDeserved!!!
Que gran calidad humana tiene David Hyde Pierce. Lo adoro.
I miss this era, a golden age for sitcoms
SO DESERVING !!. ❤ 2023' STILL WATCHING THE RE-RUNS !!. 🎉😊❤
Yeah Sean should have been nominated , thank god he won next year!
Short, sweet but very generous. 👌
Came here from Fly On The Wall.
Gentlemanly shade !!
He was So cute.

I really love Peter MacNicol!
Spade was crushed.
“I’m running out of room”
When I firsr saw this my thought was: David Spade a "supporting actor"? Just Shoot Me was HIS show!
I guarantee that David Spade thought he won for 0.1 seconds
☠️
I'm here because he just brought this up on his "Fly on the Wall" podcast.
@@douglascollins7172 The Andy Samberg episode
He absolutely did, and has said so. He even said he started to get up, but that seems like an exaggeration after seeing this footage.
Why did the 3 co-stars even go out on stage with Sarah?
Was Mahoney sitting next to his partner, younger guy?
U can tell SJP is not a team player... I mean at least let the other ladies announce the nominees... jeez
Who?
Totally
1:33 lol
Jay Leno ruins everything he's in
lol, why did the other three ladies even bother to present? They didn’t say anything.
Were they given a chance?
why was he backstage?
because he was hosting the show
He probably presented.
He was presenting

The did say David......Hyde Pierce!
He was waiting backstage duh he knew he was gonna win
He was hosting that year, that's why he was backstage

David Spade should have won this Emmy award.

Agree with the gay being obvious.
Charming.
Where do you even get the idea that Niles is gay? The guy spent most of the series pining over Daphne.
The Niles actor is gay in real life........and it shone through..
