Lovely song from George Harrison's extraordinary album Living in the Material World which I bought and adored at 12 years old.

this one REALLY stands up. no small task. esp when compared to the spector produced original. it has that epic quality that's stunning. this one's difficult to play, too. harrison wrote it on organ whereas he usually wrote on guitar. the chord structure is really odd.

George Harrison produced his original himself. It was his previous record, All Things Must Pass, that was produced by Phil Spector.

@@michavandam No, the original version of Try Some Buy Some was recorded and released in 1971 by Ronnie Spector, with Phil Spector and George Harrison producing. Then two years later George took the same musical backing track of Ronnie's version and overdubbed his vocals onto that. So, basically, also George's version is ghost-co-produced by Spector

This is a Phil/Ronnie Spector song. Bowie featured it on one of his radio DJ sets in '79.

    [Verse 1]
    Way back in time
    Someone said try some
    I tried some
Now buy some, I bought some[?]
    Oh oh oh
    After a while
When I had tried them, denied them
I opened my eyes and I saw you[?]
Not a thing did I have
Not a thing did I see
Untill I called on your love
And your love came to me
    Oh oh oh oh oh
    Oh oh oh oh oh
    Oh oh oh ohhh
    [Verse 2]
    Through my life
I've seen grey sky, met big fry
Seen them die to get high[?]
    Ohhh
And when it seemed that I would only be lonely
I opened my eyes and I saw you
Not a thing did I feel
Not a thing did I know
Untill I called on your love
And your love sure did grow
    Oh oh oh oh oh
    Oh oh oh oh oh
    Oh oh oh ohhh
    [Outro]
    Won't you try some
    Baby won't you buy some
    Won't you try some
    Baby won't you buy some
    Oh oh oh oh oh
    Oh oh oh oh oh
    Oh oh oh ohhh

Bowie makes a good effort but the original is 100 times better and Harrison’s vocal is indescribably brilliant
