Well, there was no mention about some sources of gray market goods. Real goods with real quality can move also from one market area to another. Or wholesellers, distributors etc. having excess inventory or reducing stock, bankruptcies of shops or middle-men (auctions) etc. Exhibition/sales samples. Goods coming from all these sources are legitimate high quality goods, just cheaper than usual.
pffyespff yep, I was disappointed that he didn’t mention that point because it’s the most common source of grey market products. He might be showing his retailer bias - they hate it when consumers buy products outside the local distribution channel so he’s hoping to scare consumers away from using anything except the official local seller.
Grey market items are usually the exact same product sold for way less markup in countries that are not as well off as most of us. My company bought some oddly cheap Cisco network gear once that we found out was unable to be used in the US. We had to pay a "re-certifying" fee before they would let us pay for support.
@@pffyespff I need to find these XD Wanting all this great protection you see on adventure rider videos, but then the price tag is damn near the price of the bike they ride.
When i discuss this helmet for my Indonesian viewers, I was attacked by the users and the sellers and i have no choice to delete the video because they think it cause drama.. Fake helmets are dangerous And most people who bought them only use their egos..
I love how they don't shameless plug their own store. They could have easily said "we only sell genuine products" and no one would complain, but they didn't.
I'm in love with motorcycles since I was 15 (27 now), but I would still love this channel even if it talked about tables. The quality of the content is great, and the way they present it is even better!
A thing to add with that final Grey market story. Sometimes factories mess up or some textiles and materials are a bad batch, so instead of tossing them and wasting those materials they'll "Throw them out" for another factory (Typically with all the same workers just on the night shift) to go dumpster diving and finish off the products with the bad materials and cheaper nuts and bolts and made with less time and care put into them. Or sometimes they're just straight up reject jackets that instead of destroying it finds it's way online.

The production quality in this video is honestly mad 😂 fair play, great video and really gotta commend the effects and attention put in to make it so dramatic 👌
First off, thanks for another excellent video. Loving the material produced by Fortnine. Secondly, huge thumbs up for including scenes from the short horror movie "Bobby", originally a part of the "Dead of Night" video that scared my 12-year old self thoroughly. Truly as terrifying as knock offs, fakes and grey market m/c gear!
Thanks for shedding light on this topic! Youre absolutely right about what happens at the factories overseas..I work in the garment industry and this stuff happens all the time.

Dude. This is the most well-produced, entertaining, creative, and informative video I've watched in months. Well done, sir. I am continually impressed with the quality of your content. Also, that knockoff helmet was scary. Basically nothing more than a studio prop. Yeesh.
Thanks for covering these categories Ryan. Keeping in mind, this analysis and product categories exist for all other products and not just motorcycle equipment. There are similar cases but not as dangerous. Clothing stores that sell overrun or irregulars in the attempts to recover some cost of manufacturing where there was a mishap in final production phase. I.e., TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Ross, etc.
I'd say buying brand name overstock for plain clothing is fine, because a production defect there would only lead to a $20 genuine Ralph Lauren polo looking slightly off. But when safety is concerned... there's no compromise. Just like you won't skimp on brake pads or seat belts, your moto gear is there to save your life if you hit something solid at high speed.
