I used to work for a stationary shop and learned how to use wax seals, it's addictive! We'd add small dried flowers or leaves, string, etc now so cool to use diecuts!

I still have a bunch of seals and wax from when I used them for sealing envelopes. I have both beads/spoon and wax candles where you light the wick and it melts the wax. You sometimes get a bit of char from the candle version of the wax, just an FYI.

@@navoff1 I have had that happen with mine too! I love wax seals though

Oh, and one other thing that I've done is to stamp the seal in ink before stamping in the wax. It colors the background of the image. It works really well with metallic inks. You could also use something like Simon Hurley's Lunar Paste to highlight the wax.

Nice to see Spellbinders jumping on the wax seal wagon. I have been doing this on my cards for years. I use an old Teflon coated pie tin to pour the wax on, then I keep my metal seal on a cold wet paper towel until I'm ready to press it in the wax. Only takes 5-10 seconds then I pull the metal seal off easily. The wax seals pop right off the tin with a small spatula.

Love this kit!!! I can’t wait to get mine!
I have an old set that I’ve been using for a bit.
It’s so fun to use wax seals, if you mess up just cut the cold wax seal on 4 pieces and re-melt 😉 if you don’t cut it, it can melt outside of the spoon.
Can’t wait to see how you use this in a card, I always copy you as I need inspiration to create!
Thank you for being so professional on your videos, they are very enjoyable. ♥️🤗🙏🏼

I just watched another video on using the kit and they used a shorter tea light (I didn't realize that they came in different heights) and it didn't leave the soot on the bottom of the spoon but seemed to melt the wax just as quickly.

wow - I bought my first set of wax seals in 1969 when I went to college. I did use them for several years (maybe 5 or better) until the post office complained the cards and letters I sent had to be hand processed as the seals didn't go thru the machines. I still have my seals, and even some wax.. I might dig it back out and see what happens. Thanks for the video !

I got the Spellbinders Platinum 6 machine on Saturday to replace my Cuttlebug. The Cuttlebug works just fine but I can't really get it to work with 3D embossing folders, and I also want to get the Glimmer machine at some point so I have to upgrade. Now I guess I'll have to add wax seals to my wish list!

This is so exciting! I got a wax seal kit for my birthday earlier this year, and I love it! I’ve been having so much fun, and you’re right, Yana, it can be addictive! But I’m so excited about the dies created especially to go under the seals! These are perfect! The ginkgo and twisty stems are so cool! I also love how you did the marbled look, I haven’t tried that yet. When I mixed colors I stirred them to create a new color, but I really like your idea of a marbled look-it was so pretty and would coordinate perfectly with your matte gold and light blue Christmas cards! The seal stamp options are wonderful too! This is so exciting! Thanks, Yana! 💛💛💛

@@Yana.Smakula A regular candle may not work very well. The"candles" I mentioned were more like crayons with a wick in them. They melted & dripped very quickly so I expect they’re a softer wax than regular candles. Some company, can’t remember which one but it’s recent, does provide a similar product. Have fun!

Hey Yana, I just have to say that SB has been 'killing it' with all their clever & beautiful designs! I only have one question, that will be answered once I mail an envelope with a wax seal and then followup with the recipient, which is if the seals stand up to mailing journey but I suppose that would depend on a number of factors, for example, air mail, how far the destination is, etc. Anyways, no matter, it still looks like so much fun to play with and most definitely adds a 'very special touch' (we could even add them to tags). I'm rambling on (I tend to do that when I get excited) so in closing, thank you for sharing and please know, you & your hubby, and the Ukrainian people, are always in my thoughts & prayers. Take care of yourself, dear....gentle hugs from N
