In the last 10 years, uploading to TH-cam this is officially my shortest video! 😁

That´s because you are Old School Master and get straight to the point. Thank you 😎

Hi Andrew, I believe the kink is indeed needed. The sharp kink gets the signal to escape, which is the purpose of the antenna.

no it would need to be a right angle to do that

Maybe modify that antenna and test it. Straighten out the kink and retest. Desolder and retest. Take out the coil and retest?

    Hello
We would love to have a video on building long range 5ghz omni antenna in most easy way; something like 9-10dbi of gain. Your earlier videos on such antennas are bit more laborious. Thanks ❤

Isn't this a dual band antenna with PCB portion being the 5GHz band part? I do have antenna just like this inside, will measure it tomorrow on a wider spectrum.

    01:51 A PCB-board? What's the B in PCB then? :D

Can you like desolder the antenna from the pcb board and maybe put like one of your omni biquad antenna of any other clover antenna etc to it????? Reason why I ask is I got 1 just like that and would like to try your omni biquad antenna on it

If i were to add a bigger antenna to a wifi extender could it improve the range? Or would it be pointless? Current antennas are about 3" long.

Extenders usually employ shared antennas thus need to be omnidirectional as they need to reach both the base router and the client devices' respective antennas. So you prob have low gain, perhaps 2dB dipoles.
If they are detachable it's certainly worth experimenting with 3dB, 5dB, and perhaps 7dB replacements. If repeater is dual band (2.4 / 5 G) be sure to use legitimate dual band capable antennas. Be aware sometimes cheap units are falsely marketed as dual band.
Start with antenna(s) pointing straight up and play around. Usually it helps to position extender not near the floor but rather higher up, or use short antenna extender cables to get antennas higher up and thus more free of typical obstructions.
