We all always knew that Will Smith was a man of many talents, a rapper, actor, and now an aircraft mechanic with 10 years of experience dismantling 747s
Safety is the first thing. Never go under a suspended load as was done on this video. No seat belt while driving the forklift. Small things that can get you hurt. The engine is second to safety.
Once, I was sitting in a Royal Air Maroc 747 in Casablanca looking out the window watching a small man in ragged shorts and flip flops replace one of our engines.
So Hayley was getting certified on engine removal? Its nerve wrecking lowering that heavy engine. Your nerves are at ease when its on the ground safely.
There is no “certification”. I have been yanking engines off of every Boeing airframe for a long time for a major airline. These are people that wish they worked at the airlines…or can’t.
I wonder how much that refurbishment cost?! I'm a 35 year veteran Commercial Truck Owner Operator and I would like to buy and refurbish a 747 from a boneyard and become a global air-cargo aircraft owner operator.
They need an inspector because of the American Airlines Flight 191 DC-10 crash in Chicago when the airline had devised a labor saving engine extraction method of using a forklift to hold the engine. That led to the biggest air disaster in US history 273 deaths, including 2 on the ground
I work at Delta…there are zero inspectors involved in the REMOVAL of an engine, not “extraction”. Inspectors buy off the mount bolt torque and some other stuff. They couldn’t care less about the removal. You clearly aren’t a mechanic.
Interesting behind-the-scenes maintenance routine. My only issue: When the nature of the action taking place is clearly visible and intuitive to the viewer, there is no reason to oversell the scene with tropes such as "One mistake and...". "Nine thousand pounds of engine are now suspended in midair...". Not any more than when attached by bolts. The engine is suspended in "midair" by a different means but, to a non-engineer, it was hanging just as precariously on four bolts before disassembly. "...any mistake (dramatic pause) could be disastrous". "Any" mistake? Then, any mistake while driving at high speeds on a highway can be disastrous also. True, but not deserving of a drum roll. The imprecise language and dramatic delivery of the narration used on many videos, while designed to create tension and hold interest, have become so trite and predictable, that the technique often causes more irritation and distraction for me.
Very dumb how they don't have a hydraulic lift than can square level with the engine and lift up to it and bring it back down with out the whole chain hoist drama they show.
Exactly what I thought. The cradle they used to sit the engine on..would be perfect if it had some hydraulic legs that would raise it up to hold the engine in place....undo the bolts...and then just lower it back down ready to be picked up by the fork lift.
Those are called Cobra stands. I have removed and replaced HUNDREDS of engines this way….never seen it done any other way with the exception of using come alongs that are pneumatic powered.

*Will smith laugh*
Also, a violent cuck and bully, though, those aren't talents, but, rather, pathologies.
That's not Will Smith. Will Smith is Taller.
and darker
@Royal Air facts
And an assbole
"From Boeing Multi-National, that's how I get paid.
On the runways is where I spend most of my days."

Will Smith is so talented. I thought he'd have more of a tan though.
Respect for this woman and the crew ! ☝👆
MARVEL of Engineering ! 👏👏
Can that motor be sold on ebay? If possible the only problem is how to mail it to the recipient.

A lie.
Ha Royal Maroc mainly had i 747-400 deliverd in 1994 and retired in 2019 this must be fake
My guy somebody lied to you there are not 30000 connections
I onced removed a light bulb and it almost slipped out of ny hand.
Dulla Han lol
Not to mention black to white
The power puff girls have even infiltrated the airline mechanics industry.
I worked with a woman in aircraft maintenance 35 years ago.

And I thought that they would demonstrate with the archaic JT9D, not the not-so-old PW4000
Will smith really diversifying his CV
The narrator sounds like a cowabunga surfer dude.
We miss you 118, 117, 121, 171, and 182ua

Thank God...
Everybody survived...
Those engine are like 30 years old? Not much 747 flying nowadays. How much does each really worth.
Wow Will Smith !
Build the same one with 2 engine ( more trust an more trust )??? It is possible
He's about to be a lot busier as 747s retire
I got 15 yrs and my first engine was a md 11 when i was 18
So how much is a refurbished engine worth ?
It’s called overhauled.
they forgot to disconnect one of the ducts lol.
The first guy they interviewed looks like fps russia
RIP United 747
You don’t need an inspector to drop an engine at a REAL company. This is 145 repair station where inspectors think they are gods…lame.
Use the metriic system
Who else came to the comment section just to see Will Smith jokes?
Of course You dont show Sheeple The compressor rings.

If you are working in disassembly, you aren’t that good.
Hate the scarey talk.. any mistake any mistake.. junk suspense
Seams complicated
Did Will Smith go Michael jacksson? Why is he white?
That's Will smith? I thought he was black.

Read about the crash of American Airlines Flight 191, and you'll know why.

Men created this from their brilliant minds , glory to the male gender
