It feels illegal to know the oldest streetlites are 12 years old when i know scania solars only just finished production then
The worst bit for me is the sitting next to the emergency exit door, sounds like an automatic rifle when idling. But maybe that's just Arriva North East being Arriva North East and purposely making everybody's journey more miserable.
It's not limited to Arriva North East, it is a problem on Metrobus streetlites too (A metrobus streetlite is seen at 1:00 and 9:16.) I still don't understand why Metrobus opted for streetlites on a route which uses the A264 dual carriageway
It's the same with Worcestershire as well. The emergency door hardest rattles when the bus is not moving. But when going they don't. They also have got a very hard braking system as well.
Go North East manage to keep them in some what of a good shape, but yes.. Arriva NE aren’t the best at recognising passenger comfort…
Same here with diamond buses whether it's the newer 2018 ones or the (really bad) 2012-2014 ones. The rattling is so bad

@@JeSuisRene they are “alright” like I haven’t rode the London spec ones but the ones in my area aren’t the best so they in my eyes not so good buses. But I haven’t ridden on many so my views can change.
No streetshites here in Nottingham I'm happy to report :) NCT/Trent went with Optare Solos instead for their midibuses , and now the former are going for Yutongs for their next set :P
I thought old Dennis Darts/Enviro 200s were cheaply built sheds on wheels too but these are something else. Horrible ride , rattly emergency exit amongst other problems when I rode on one in Bristol earlier this year.
These buses used to be operated by First Manchester and driven on my local route, which was the 350 route (Ashton to Oldham via Saddleworth). They are still in Manchester but they are quite rare and operated by Go North West and Diamond North west.
Oh they still run in Manchester? I presumed they got stolen or something.
First in my area still has quite a few streetlites
About them not going on motorways or dual carriageways, I've had a Streetlite on the Route 371 out of Colchester, in Essex. That route goes along the A12 from Colchester to Chelmsford and on the A12 itself it never exceeded 50mph. Other buses handle that speed quite well but the streetlite sounded like it was redlining it. Everything was overtaking us including lorries and coaches.
I seen it on 300 from Southport to Liverpool via ANTRIEE and BOOTLE goes on like 1 motorways and 10000000000 dual carriage ways
These things look weirdly familiar, but for the life of me I can't remember exactly where I saw them, though it was probably Wellington. Round my way we only have Enviro 200s and 200 MMCs.

These are like the Leyland National’s of the 21st century. The Daimler powered unit offers a bumpy, noisy and rattle ridden ride. Effectively, these units feel cheap and like a stop gap. As a piece of street furniture, they get the thumbs down.

I never rode these buses before but I could remember watching a video where this bus was struggling to startup its engine.
When the person went outside to check the rear end of bus, there was smoke coming out thanks to the burning coolant.
Some streetlites can be translink metro livery and to serve routes 9 or 7

2:21 you can get a ALX 400 Volvo B7TL for a lower price at around £15,500 and it dosen't have 2 + 3 seating and is still in working order!
If I owned a bus company I would get an ALX 400 from 2005 rather than a AntLite I mean Streetlite that constatly bounces around and would break down in the next 4 days.
Just make sure you don't own any routes with low bridges ;)

bus driver here,
i actually do like them a little:) they are far from good buses but they are not that bad either. being a single deck they are easier to drive and quicker on country lanes than the double decks. the ones we have here in weston can go up to 55 mph, making them the fastest buses in our fleet. but the best thing in them is the drivers cab. they have more legroom than the streetdecks and larger side windows, this summer we had some really hot days and having that extra bit of fresh air coming in was much appreciated, and one more thing, the cctv screens are located higher than in the streetdeck and they don't blind the driver.
I should mock, but we need more people like you who can bear driving them lol!

I love the streetlites in my opinion. They replaced the old junks known as the Eclipses (Still love em). 4:28 btw the Norwich Greenline Streetlites run on the A47 trolololololo.
First West Yorkshire has some streetlites. Some that are ‘64 plate and some that are ‘72. They pretty much feel the same, until they idle and they start vibrating like a dil-
Also I was on the 371 in Huddersfield and a siren went off on the bus and they had to pull over. Only time a bus has broken down on me.
Scottish highlands and Scottish Borders are thankfully safe from these things
My Town has no streetlite buses, the closest place where they run is Exeter, East Devon, UK, on route SPR3 from RD&E Hospital to Digby & Sowton P&R.

I put a Streetlite into a wall recently because of the absolutely appalling turning circle they have. Same route I’ve had no issues doing this specific right hander on say, the E200, or the B7. Streetshites are not buses. They’re death traps.

So I was yesterday on a Streetlite recording a video, but it broke down so we had to wait for another bus which was also a Streetlite lol
it could not go into drive gear but the engine worked

Streetlites are pretty fugly, particularly those Wheels-Forward variants.
I was going to upload a video saying why I won't make future bus unicum reviews but I'll narrow it down to the following:
- Lack of knowledge on buses and bus related terms
- Lack of interest in some types of buses
- Lack of funds and time to film
- A distinctive hatred of filming buses in general (especially in London)
It's not a case of "if X amount of people ask, maybe I'll change my mind." If anything, it's a case of "No thank you, I don't want to."

You should do something on the Desiro Cities or something, all run around London which would means it would be easy to film, unless you don't live in London, which would be harder to film this stuff

I CAN RELATE THIS IS MY LOCAL BUS
I rode on my first door forward Streetlite (operated by First Cymru) yesterday. I found it relatively quiet and the ride was much better over poor surfaces than the many Dennis Dart ‘bouncy castles’ used by this operator. Also, the bodywork was much less shaky. I wouldn’t recognise the Streetlight from this review!
I am willing to believe that, though I have not ventured into Wales much, at least to ride on First buses there.
Is it one of the SN14 Cymru Clipper ones? If so, I think First Cymru removed several flaws with these buses when they repainted them into the 2019 Cymru Clipper livery. They are so much faster off the line than they used to be, and the performance in general is no worse then a well-maintained Euro 5 Enviro200. They no longer rattle, and I noticed a huge improvement in ride quality. Or at least when I rode on 63095 (SN14 DVL) last November in comparison to 63094 (SN14 DVK) several years ago, the ride quality on the improved ones is just as good as a Versa!
Most buses in the Lothian area have duel door configuration.
News to me, but I am now well versed with Scotland. Even less with it's bus network.

I can't remember for the life of me what the name is, but I swear round where I live we have small buses like this, but front engined. Absolutely horrid little things.

streetlites are reliable comthy and lovley busses the only thing that they are missing that the knockoff WF streetlite (wright streetvibe wich are so common thats its inposible to not see one in a day) is air con usb charging points and a diffrent windscreen an smaller back window and the never ending clunking of the gearbox so streetlites are good

How sad, though I thought Dublin Bus had more than streetlites.
It truly baffles me that most UK busses don't have two doors. That's the basic requirements for efficiency at stops
There are tonnes of arguments for and against dual doors here it's ridiculous but I 100% agree. Most, if not, all buses here should be dual or triple doors.
Well i live in Taunton and the wright streetlite is only used in local services (if you dont include 29) and the streetlite is decent here (the ones on 29 is the streetlite is you except. Shit) i think they should bring back the enivro 200 on the 29 thats my opinion

And they run in the dual carriages in swansea on the X6 first cymru it’s a good bus but a little slow on the motorway and I can understand why the streetlites are the most hated bus
Enviro 200s are better for me it runs on my local route so I see it alot
But I like streetlites ok they nice and smooth engines done judge it

Yeah we've got most variants of the street shite. All of them but one are absolutely dreadfull to drive. The low speed gearbox reverb and constant jerking around when applying the accelerator on a corner or when slowing down infuriates me every day. I find myself more tired than I should be at the end of each day. But that said we have an older street lite that has a different gearbox and feels lovely and smooth to drive, when you let off the accelerator it doesn't jerk you forward or try flapping around with gears etc as you corner.
Perhaps that one was built well before Wright found that out at the production line.

@@MaverickHunterDaniel Finally, my uni city, Oxford, is also free from Streetlites 99% of the time now that Diamond Bus have withdrawn the 250. The reason why I said 99% is because rarely, Thames Travel (who have a couple of Streetlites) can send one up to Oxford on the Connector routes (33, X2 or X32)

Streetlites are ok buses but just look a bit wierd and all / most operators have them bc there cheap and you probably can tell y there cheap. First Solent use them on services X4 / X5 from Portsmouth / Gosport - Fareham and Southampton and the X4 has a 10 min journey on the motorway so it sounds like the Streetlite is gonna blow up

I don't think Streetlites are THAT bad... like there's obviously better, but if you think Streetlites rattle a lot, I refer you to an ADL E200. Thank you 🤣🤣 Nah obviously the main competitors; the E200MMC, Versa and B7RLE/B8RLEs are like a shit tonne better.
I've rode on E200s soooooooooo much over my life that my brain must've tuned out the rattling on them. Not that I'm implying your lying or anything, oh no. But yeah, Versa and B8RLE master race.

Since i ride the bus to go to school, arriva gifts us these machines daily. We used to get pulsar 2s but it’s arriva, so who cares lol. For the past month, 3 that i’ve rode on have broken down. Shocking, i know. Seems that there’s not a single difference between the cummins and mercedes engines; they both rattle every second and have terrible reliability. Even an enviro 200mmc is better than these misshapen boxes on wheels. Wright seriously has to bring back production of the eclipse series and pulsars, as they had no issues at all with operators.
I at least prefer the merc engine sound myself and to be pedantic, Wright still technically make the Eclipse, it's just got a new version with a different name, the GB Hawk and GB Kite for the electric ones.
