The chest is the engine pulling the arms around and into the impact zone. When I need to practice the feel I take a few baseball swings while standing tall and watch as the arms chase my chest and extend.
That has to be one of the best visuals of showing the difference between swinging with your chest and swinging with your arms! And like you said, clearly shows power loss when you take the chest out of your swing
Thank you for this very important swing tip. I was working on this very thing this morning. This video is reinforcing what I was working on and fills in some of the gags of my thinking. I really like the thought of “fast chest to finish”..
Such great advice. I actually got an injury around my left shoulder due to not allowing my chest to rotate enough through the swing (instead my arms collapsed around the left shoulder). Slowly now doing rehab and drilling the swing with the help of a ball squeezed between my forearms. I have found that this forces me to really rotate through rather than just using my arms. I started doing this after advice from a golf pro, and the feeling of rotating through rather than hitting with the arms was so different from what I have experience before. I have not yet very high speed, but the smash factor has increased. I guess I will first settle for good contact. Another thing that has benefited me is filming my swing. At some practice sessions I literally film all swings. As a mediocre golfer my insight is not that high, but getting some sort of feedback on what really happens has really been beneficial.
Thanks for the video! I watched an older video of yours where you talk about keep the chest closed and actually feeling as if your chest is halting through impact. This video feels opposite of that ? Thanks
Hi Christina, I am really enjoying your tips. I recently retired, so I will be doing a camp soon. On the tip you just presented with getting the chest left...a semi "hard" left, I have a question. With 1/4, half, and 3/4 swings, is there anything to be mindful of or to adjust when getting that chest left? You don't have the momentum of a full backswing. I sometimes find myself attempting to pull through to the left side on short swings to abruptly. A lot of bad stuff happens
How do you square this with fast hands leaving the shoulders back though? Or are the two videos for 2 different types of swingers (hands vs body swing)?
Watch video again :) I say get trail shoulder through (not hang it back). That's the KEY move to help square face and generate lots of power. If you do not the hands will flip (most likely).
Can you explain what happens if you don't rotate the chest correctly (throwing arms at ball)? What it does specifically if you DO rotate your upper body properly (in sync with arms, etc)? I'm one of those guys who need to know why or whats the point in case a particular thing is happening or going wrong and its one of the swing components I can check. 😁
Knowing the WHYS is key. Glad you asked. Generally speaking: You’ll most likely pull hook it, weak-right it or top/chunk if your chest stops rotating as your hands are now out of sync with the body. You’ll also have less distance. When you rotate the chest through, you gain significant distance, effortless power and accuracy.
On the backswing , right elbow. I have the feeling that my left arm is straight and it fells like my right arm is straight too. I know that’s not possible but that’s what it feels like…. Is that right? Or where am I going off. Thanks
I like the trail arm (right arm for righty) at ,or just less than 90-degrees for good width. Only way to know is to film yourself. Don't guess. I do not practice without a tripod and my phone camera to be sure that what I feel and what's real are in sync

simple yet very crucial advice..thanks
Always great content presented in a clear and concise manner.

Best explanation I’ve seen on TH-cam thanks from an old self taught golfer!
Glad you enjoyed it Thank you for watching.
self taught bragging so you are a pro yes?

Wonderful lesson as usual...thank you Ma'am 😊
Great drill Christina, going to work on getting my chest, though, and high finish. Your the bes.t
Meilleures explications simples et concrete. Mille merci 🤗
Great tips because people always say keep right elbow tucked in which stops flow
Yes, a quick tip, always worth listening to.

Awesome thank you for sharing. Practice with a camera is key to fast change. I do not go to the range without it.
Good lesson. Thanks
you look the business with your swing christina, so
its clearly an important component as any other !👌

Watch this week's tip (latest tip). It will help. I'll do a tip on this too, Good question.
I like this ❤

Thanks so much for the quick response. LOVE your videos and how you make them fun to watch. Thanks again!

@@MorePars gotcha, thanks for responding. So it doesn't affect low point? Like, contribute to fat shots if you don't keep rotating?
yes it does contribute to low point most definitely. I said top/chunk (same thing as thin/fat
@@MorePars oh yes you did and I missed it. Sorry...little lapse in reading comprehension. Thanks again.

I understand it, but I can do it. LO>L
That phrase "keep your head down" ruins a lot of golfers.
