When you think of the Birdsville Big Red Bash and the Broken Hill Mundi Mundi Bash the natural first association is live music and the sheer magnitude of the entire spectacle. Two of Australia's best festivals - with Mundi Mundi Bash now officially recognised as the largest Outback Festival in this country - their main focus is on community and inclusiveness.
Music just happens to play a large role.
But, as they say, behind anything good in the world there is always someone pulling the strings that often goes unnoticed. The uniting force with a vision that is ultimately shared with the world. Seldom are these people acknowledged, preferring to stay in the shadows and remain anonymous. It's more often easier that way.
After experiencing the majesty that is Mundi Mundi Bash for the first time yesterday, HEAVY felt compelled to speak with the man responsible for this and the Big Red Bash, so we tracked down the unassuming Greg Donovan to find out more.
