Thanks for teaching me this method. It was really easy to understand by your way of explaining it so simple. Thanks a lot,I love knitting,I learned it from my Grandma 60+ years ago. Greetings from Norway❤
Hi! Thank you for wonderful tutoring. It is one of the best on TH-cam. I am actually Latvian. Learned that stitch when I was very young from my father’s mother.
Almost couldn’t finish the second row, because my yarn was so twisted! I persevered, got it done and began row three and untwisted it. I looks great! Thanks, Marly, for another great tutorial! I trusted what you said, kept twisting the yarn, then untwisted it to a gorgeous purple/pink Latvian braid!
Whenever you are knitting with two colors, the yarn gets twisted. I find the way to work this is to keep the twist far from your work -- just slide your fingers down the "loop" and keep 6 - 8 inches open -- and then untwist at the end of every row. This is simple -- just pick up the two balls of yarn and pull gently. The yarn will untwist will your work twirls around.
How perfectly beautiful. And so easy when explained step by step. That twisted yarn is bound to make me a little crazy, so thanks for showing that it all untwists at the end!
If I knit this braid straight after knitting a few rows of corrugated ribbing in the same colours, do I still need to knit the set-up row or can I just go straight to rows 2 and 3?
I am making a puzzle blanket and am trying to figure out a nice way to add the colors so that it looks pretty seamless. The Blanket is entirely garder stitch. I thought the Latvian braid might be a nice way to accomplish this, highlighting the transition, but am concerned the underside of the blanket will look odd. What are your thoughts. And thank you for the great tutorials.,
I think it will look great. It is really just reverse stockinette...with the floats and purl bumps making the fun look of the latvian. So on the other side it will curl like stockinette.

That braid looks good. Gives it a different look to the hat.
wow it looks so intricate but it is so easy and dresses up a baby hat so sweetly.

It's come from our Latvian traditional belt

Hi Marly. Love your videos. Is there a way to reverse the direction of the arrows?
Yes :) if you switch up rows 2 and 3 the arrow goes the other direction.
Jogless fix 9:00

So you purl row 2 and 3? (Twisted and untwisted)
what if I want them slanting the other way? You only showed them slanting one way. or am I missing something here????
Beautiful Marly!!! Where did you get your stitch marker? It's so pretty!
I untwist my yarn bec the twist gets too tight to finish the entire round so untwist one quarter the way round
