Hassan said his experience was anecdotal, but it's fun to hear that someone had the same experience as me. Members of my family who weren't into superhero shows suddenly were all in, and suddenly weren't when What If came around. Also, I like that "positivity" =/= "no criticism". Because I've always believed you can be positive about something and still be critical about it.
The MCU has gotten to the point where they don't need to make something for everyone. They finally realized anyone can be into anything, but not everyone needs to be into everything.
I'm going to play along, but in regular release order. *WandaVision:* I absolutely loved how each episode was a new decade, that is such a creative way to play with the narrative and it's a great use of the show format. *The Falcon and the Winter Soldier:* I liked the dynamic between Sam and Bucky really growing more than we ever saw in the movies and the conflict they had with John Walker. *Loki:* I appreciate the willingness to just go all out with the multiverse concept with all the different Lokis at the end of time, but also having a Loki we know grow and change into a better person than even necessarily what we saw in the mainline MCU. Owen Wilson's Mobius was also pretty cool. *Black Widow:* Same, Yelena Belova is a great character, I also like Red Guardian's obsession with Captain America that will never be fulfilled. *What If...?:* I really liked that each episode did lead up to a story that used parts of each previous episode. The What If...? concept is already a fun one to me, but having them all "matter" was a nice touch. *Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings:* All the fights before Ta Lo were amazing, great choreography in that. Also, we basically got The Last Airbender done right in live action with the fight between Shang-Chi's parents, and then also when Shang-Chi is training with his aunt, neat stuff. They did freaking Airbending! Heck, we even got some Waterbending with the dragon! *Eternals:* Dude, Gilgamesh and Makkari, they're my favorite characters in the movie. I like how he punches things, and I like the way they visualized her superspeed. And I also just really liked the movie when so many others didn't so like, I don't know, everyone should give Eternals a second chance. *Hawkeye:* Man, I should rewatch this on the way to Christmas, it was such a fun show. I think it did get a bit overstuffed with new characters being added each week, but the dynamics between Clint and Cate is great, and this poor man just can't help but get into more and more trouble when he's just trying to get home in time for Christmas. *Spider-Man: No Way Home:* I mean, come on, it's No Way Home, but to praise something specific... We got to see the wigglies of his Spider Sense when Pete's in astral form, and that's just fun. *Moon Knight:* Episode 4 is my favorite episode of the Season, very Brendan Fraser Mummy with a bit more horror. Also the tag to the entire Season, I really hope we get more of that in Season 2. *Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness:* Pizza Poppa always gets paid! *Ms. Marvel:* This was a great teen drama for the first three episodes, and I hope we get more grounded stories that are just about Kamala being a girl in Jersey City being the local superhero. *Thor: Love and Thunder:* I don't think it's an accurate depiction of Eternity, but we got freaking Eternity man! That's rad! The movie was so off the walls crazy that they figured they could just casually throw in a Cosmic Entity like it was nothing. Also, I appreciate that it's mostly a comedy first and foremost, pass or fail, it's not like it was a standard MCU movie where the comedy keeps pulling you out of the moment, Love and Thunder just is a comedy, take it or leave it. You didn't mention it, but *I Am Groot:* I love how quick to violence Groot is to solve his "problems." *She-Hulk: Attorney at Law:* I'm with Benny, I really like how nonchalantly they just have super powered individuals and vigilantes just having problems. And yeah, it's a sitcom, it's job was to make me laugh, and it succeeded in doing so at least once each episode, so mission accomplished. *Werewolf By Night:* Much like WandaVision, Eternals, or Thor: Love and Thunder, it very much has an identity and a style, but even more experimental and I want more swings like this, hit or miss. *Black Panther: Wakanda Forever:* Namor was a boss, and I'm excited for his return one day, so glad they did not kill him! *The Gaurdians of the Galaxy Holiday Special:* Obviously it's not out yet, but from the trailer, I love that they expanded on the Kevin Bacon joke from Infinity War and that he was willing to play along with Marvel in whatever this special ends up being.
For me at least I think the shows were the biggest problem in the sense they didn't lean into strength of gerne TV( expanding chrachters in a way you couldn't do in movie, having one off experimental episodes either focused on gimmick like a bottle or groundhog Day episode or switching perspective to a supporting chrachter or villain for an episode)instead they mostly pulled the it's a long movie split into parts model there are over thirty episodes of these thing but noone of them feel like individual episodes.
She-hulk had so pretty standalone episodes, but people call it filler when the format of the show is a episodic format. Overall I get what you mean about the shows.
21:00 i love that he was the most logical and smart person in the team, if any character who was going to make a logical decision and refuse to use violence against his own people, it has be someone residing in Indian subcontinent And someone needed to make that kind of choice, it elevates the movie instead of degrading it
Phase 4 was always going to be in a tough spot. It is following two of the biggest movies ever and it was introducing new heroes. Remember phase 1 did not have the hype until the Avengers came out.the general audience is still tied to the original avengers, it's going to take time to get them to buy into the new.
I personally love MoonKnight. Thing that got me was the different personalities getting along. I have alters as well, so it was nice seeing a show a character trying to have them get along.
I love Hassan's viewpoints on things, I mean don't get me wrong I respect everyone's opinions on the team but Hassan seems to speak for a lot of the casual fans and how they perceive things. He definitely has his finger on the pulse of what's popular to who, etc
@@HassanKhadair of course man! I mean it, you guys are all great but it's definitely refreshing having you on the show! You all bring something different to the table and it's awesome
I think the problem with Multiverse saga is that where Infinity saga was like a Trilogy, Multiverse saga is designed as a long running TV show All 3 phases in Infinity Saga had their own beginning, middle and end which was satisfying, it gave us a one big chunk of 5-6 movies that culminate into something and makes the whole phase rewatchable On the hand Phase 4 serves as Act 1/beginning of Multiverse Saga, it feels incomplete when it comes to a larger narrative, everything is a setup and it will not be as rewatchable as Infinity Saga till we reach the culmination in Avengers 5 & 6
25:45 Shoot tell that to Sal when it comes to his belief that the Star Wars prequels are “objectively bad movies” lol. Love Sal and like Hassan I generally agree with his opinions but dude has a next level hate for those films that I feel would benefit from doing exactly what you said since he just seems to have no idea why my generation has such a love for those films (beyond just nostalgia). But maybe I got a bad read on his perspective, I know he can often he hyperbolic with his remarks so I’d like to believe he actually has more respect for the prequels then he tends to let on in his videos. Great and insightful video as always you guys. 🙂👍🏾
The one positive thing about Thor 4 is that if you look at it as a Rom-Com, its quite impressive....the action is great, some of the filmography is unique and even though Thor giving his powers to others creates some problems to the larger MCU, watching those kids fight made my heart smile
Hey guys, to me the Disney channel lineup for marvel properties reminds me of the spinner rack at 7-11, different kinds of choices from a list to c list and others. Each with different stories and direction. pretty cool and as time goes on i think that "spinner rack" on Disney will grow. With more titles the audience will grow and of course so will opinions.
Not to be super meta but I think people are more cynical and negative because of how hard the last couple years have been on everyone. Covid and inflation have been really rough. If the shows that I'm paying a monthly subscription aren't up to snuff and the movie I paid 20$ to see has taken a clear dip in quality compared to past projects people are going to be upset and voice those opinions which they should
ik this is random and I won’t get an answer but are you guys not covering titans anymore ? it’s looks pretty solid and I’d love to hear you’re guys take !
As much as I love everyone bagging on Hassan about his "rainy day Logan viewing" bro I GET IT. I've saved starting video games for the first time until it was my rainy day. Took me six years to start Persona 5, but now I'm 65 hours into it, and it's one of my top ten favorite video games ever. Continue not listening to them, you watch Logan when you know it's time, and it'll be like the best movie you've ever seen, and I'll be the first one to click on the "Hassan FINALLY watched Logan!" video
@@emmarod8746 I'd say so, even with Benny ranting I never get a vibe that he hates the subjects, Dan too lol. But when Sal or Dylan dislikes something it's with their whole soul 😅
My biggest complaint with Dylan, Sal and Hassan is that all three equate their personal preferences with how the movie SHOULD have been. And if it isn't what they wanted or expected, it wasn't good. I like Benny and Dan, because neither ever feels meanspirited in their criticisms. They understand that just because it wasn't what they wanted or expected doesn't automatically make it bad.
Not everything in phase four gelled with me, and that's fine as not all the movies before it did, either. The things I liked, I really liked. The things I didn't, I got some enjoyment out of at least. And the things I have no seen because I do not go to public places to watch things, I'll give a chance when they are home released.
Most people, lover of comics or normies even mostly just love the og avengers and not even all of them (calling out Hawkeye and black widow) without those characters people just tend to freak out. Regular people and mcu freaks finally realized that the marvel world isn’t just these characters and that’s why they didn’t like phase 4 because they want THEIR CHARACTERS it’s just being bratty and needy. Look at how everyone is crying about Thunderbolts but I def know y’all going to see it cause you just can’t miss one mcu event. I’ll say this everytime I interact with mcu convos, Not every show or movie needs a tie in or tie in to everything else.
It sure would’ve been nice if Moon Knight got more than like 5-10% correct about the ancient Egyptian “religion” or understanding. There’s thousands of years of mythos, stories, records, and they gave us barely anything. Imagine going to china and coming back to your family with only a fortune cookie: they aren’t even original to china! That’s how much “ancient egypt” they give to MCU fans. Might as well be Gods of Egypt 2. And out of the tons of goddesses with actual wings, bird iconography, and powers in the mythos that relate to the story, they decide to create a new “Egyptian heroine” from a goddess that is halfway known as a demon as well that doesn’t have wings??? And all the gods and goddesses that would be relevant, oh no their avatars just suck. They get defeated easily by a /demon whom is under Osiris’s control/??? Even though he’s one of the ones who is defeated??? The plot was dumb to say the least off rip making Ammit the villain. They could’ve used Seth, they could’ve used Mephisto or whomever, but instead they want a demon normally under deific control to defeat the avatar of the gods, and leave Seth and Mephisto unharmed. It makes zero sense for Ammit to lose her mind. That’s like your trash can starting a riot in your house, not gonna happen. Suspicious, odd, and seemingly unlearned in the ancient understanding is what comes off to me as a person who follows the “religion”.
People seem to forget that in phase 1 nothing really linked up until Avengers then it all came together and we saw the overall design. I want to give it a little longer before saying that there isn’t any strong connection.
Yea, like the person above me said, those movies were all building towards the Avengers and never hid it. Iron Man 1 has Fury approach Stark about a team, Incredible Hulk has Stark approach Ross about a team that's building, Iron Man 2 is literally an ad for Captain America (also had Black Widow in it) and I wanna say ended with Thor's hammer being found, Thor had Hawkeye in it; they were all dropping bread crumbs for the actual Avengers team up film
