- On December 5th, 2014,
M&M CONCERTS gathered together at Incheon Airport to celebrate our proud cultural treasure Arirang being one of Unesco's intangible treasures since 2012.
Arirang normally represents an emotion that Koreans describe as "Han", which is an emotion of resent,sorrow, and regret infused all together. Through a collaboration of two songs, Arirang and Amazing Grace, we hoped to show joining of "Han" of Korean comfort women who suffered greatly during the Japanese occupation in Korea and "Han" of Africans who were forced to be deported as slaves.
This is a harmony of "Han" of the East and West resonating through music.

어느덧 거의 10년이 다 되어가네요.
이 프로젝트를 기획하고, 준비하고 편곡할 때 저희의 의도는 진심으로 순수했으며 뜨거웠습니다.
그렇기에, 계산적이지 않았기에 지금도 무엇인가 느껴지는 것이 있다고 생각합니다.
오랜기간 순수하게 준비하고 생각하며 치열하게 만들어 냈습니다. 그리고 그래야만 하는 주제라고 생각합니다.
해석은 보는 사람에 따라 달라질 수 있습니다. 허나 진심이 담긴 저희의 음악이 소모품으로 쓰이지 않길 바랍니다.

No one is talking about how beautiful the combination is.. The Amazing grace, a song sang by most blacks, talks about the pain of blacks being transported from their country to be slaves in a foreign land and being colonized, later finding peace in Jesus and freedom in Christianity and the Arirang talks about the pain of Koreans after experiencing so much war, division, hunger and hardship, rising to be one of the worlds best through sheer hard work and determination... These are songs of glory to humanity.... So much love from Nigeria..

Jelly Fish it does not talk about the pain of blacks but the pain a slave trader felt being a slave to African royalty. A brief google search would have told you that. Also the song is song by blacks and slaves to talk about freedom and being saved.

It is a traditional Korean music that expresses longing and remorse for the person who left. It makes me cry whenever I listen to this song that makes me miss Korea for a long time since I left Korea.
When Korea is in trouble or war, I will run as a person in Korea right away.

Incheon is one of my favorite airport and i have lots of fond memories being there .. I wish i can return to Korea one day
Very nice. Incheon is one of the best airports in the world offering plenty of services like buses, taxis, trains, restaurants, cool duty free shops, convenience stores fairly priced exactly same as those downtown, and even a place to rest. You can actually rent a bed in a tiny room and bathe in a hot pool inside the Spa on Air known as, "jimjilbang," in Korea. Interesting how they sang Amazing Grace at same time, but I enjoyed the old lady at the beginning the most. It brings to mind that Amazing Grace was a comparable nationalist folk song in America that Arirang is to the Korean people. It's really a song symbolizing the painful plight of Korea through the ages, past, present, and future in how they pulled together every time, during crisis or peace, as one to survive and even prosper incredibly well.

I don't understand Korean, but was in tears halfway through Arirag, then I lost it when they switched. This was really amazing.
When I heard this beautiful Korean song I pictured it with Amazing Grace and here this video is a prove, that I am not only one who thinks so. I understand above mentioned history and all the pain of human beings experienced on the world, but I have seen these two songs the same way as I always see my and all European folk songs next to Amazing Grace. For me it is way better than a mere history. It is how God received us and how he loves us as we are. This is all about how we go to Him with nothing but what we have. For me This is the best thing on the world. I bow down before such beauty.

I learned this song during our Music subject when I was in Grade 3 that’s in the early 70s. I’m now nearing retirement, I have not forgotten about the beautiful Arirang, haunts me to this day. Sarang 💗. Or course Amazing Grace equally beautiful

Almost 10 years since I left these wonderful, gentle people and returned back to the US. Sadly, the USAF would no longer send me back due to health issues. Arirang's lyrics is a metaphor. I get the feeling of "Han" the silent remorse, the expression of letting things go, embracing the peace, and consoling souls. Thank you for this amazing song.

AMAZING!!!!! Incheon was a LOVELY airport for me. I flew out of there when I left Korea two years ago. I would LOVE to return there in the future. My home country is a VERY lovely place! ^_^ LOVE this rendition of east meets west!
2024 ann we need the type of performance more than ever. This was truely Wonderful. What a beautiful blend of two powerful melodies. I'm inpried to learn them both.
This must be heartwarming to hear for families torn apart by the border, especially for North Korean defectors who are going to travel with their reunited families

Amazing grace is the same as Arirang. The reason is the same people. Amazing grace has been originated from an Indian who was actually Korean. Interestingly Korean can understand more than 20% of the lyric of Indian amazing grace.

어울릴수밖에 없는게.. 저 미국 찬송가도 아메리카대륙 원주민의 전통곡입니다.. 한이깃든 노래죠 여담으로 이건 확실친 않지만 그 원주민들 생김새가 우리 한국인과 비슷해요 같은 민족이라는 설도 있더라구요
노예상선 선장이었던 영국사람이 회개하고나서 만든 찬송가입니다. 이후에 미국 원주민 부족이 자기 부족의 노래로 삼긴 했지만 이미 서구에선 노예해방의 상징곡이었습니다.

I would love to find the music to this. I wish we could sing it in one choir I'm in. But, my choir hates learning foreign languages. 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣 I told the conductor I would teach them the pronunciation. That hasn't worked yet. Lol.
