When the two options that are left to compare are both really good, what should we do? I am the type of person that gets passionated, especially when I think that the best out of the two is the one in front of me... And if the other person doesn't give me a good argument about why the one that they have is better, I don't back up easily. As I said before, this happens only when both options are really good. If I see that the option that my partner has is better, I go with it... Should I always pick the worst one from my options so that when stsge 3 starts I will easily agree with the best one, the one that the other person has selected?
Personally, I would always pick the best one or the one you have more to talk about or even better the one that is easier to compare in stage 3. You also know what your partner thinks as well, since they give a brief recommendation so this helps. Generally, in stage 3 though, that's what the examiner's want to see, you and your partner discussing, agreeing, disagreeing and reaching an agreement at the end. Since as you are doing this, you'll be using an amazing amount of different English language, the key is working together and taking turns, if you do this you'll both do well in this stage!!
I have seen your video and it is extremely helpful. However, the HAU's video on stage 3 is different. There is no full interaction and no collaboration. Yes, indeed Stefanos got 5s and David got 4s. How can this happen based on your experience? Please get back to me. Pen
Hello Georgios. Trust me, Stage 3 is all about cooperation and interaction. Not sure which video you have watched- though I might have one in mind- but please do check this from CaMLA: th-cam.com/video/FIY4ZoODfeg/w-d-xo.html It's a very good video in my opinion and it definitely shows the candidates interacting. Please let me know if this answers your question.
Thanks for getting back to me but this video has the least possible collaboration and interaction on stage 3. what is going on, do you know? Quite contradictory. please let me know
Hello Georgios, I don't know why this video you have seen has no cooperation between the candidates but -and I quote- "Examinees work together to compare and contrast the two options...". this is straight from a test book issued by HAU. If it's any comfort, both my colleague and I have a combined experience of over 20 years and neither of us have ever had a student fail the ECPE speaking.... and if you are still in doubt we can always have a quick Skype chat about it. :)
Thanks for getting back to me. Your videos are excellent and I follow your videos and instructions, thank God to all of you. Again the HAU video is out of proportion. The candidates don't even deserve a 4 - fast-fast pace talking and poor collaboration, poor intelligibility, ..... anyway, I will continue to show my students your videos. Panagiota (george's email)
