- Assassin's Creed: Valhalla releases November 10th 2020. The game stars Eivor as the main character, voiced by Magnus Bruun and Cecilie Stenspil. Each actor had over 11.000 voice lines and a lot of motion capture work was needed to bring the character to life.

@@TheGingiGamer For me, Cassandra was definitely canon in Odyssey. I think her voice actress was so much better than Alexios's, and I think it made more sense with what the character goes through. In this one though? Magnus did a phenomenal job - I'd even say his acting and facial capture was among the best that I've seen in a game in a good while. Little subtleties in his facial reactions and voice just made it for me, and I felt like the female Eivor was too forced and alittle fake.
I love how the male Eivor's actor actually looks like a true viking :D
I don't know if you have ever watched the last kingdom on netflix. But it's a show about vikings set in the same time period as the game. He plays a great viking character in the show as well !

@@xray7371 , actually, He's a Dane. In the game they try to make clear that to the eyes of the English (and Irish) they labelled every scandinavian as if they came from Denmark even if untrue. There were the following scenes:
-Ceolbert notices that Eivor had a different accent than the Ragnarsons
-(Dialogue choice) During the siege of Tamworth, Eivor can reply to King Burgred that Norse may not be better fighters but are better at poets than Danes.
- King Alfred corrects Eivor stating that he knows she/he is Norse, not a Dane.
That's as silly as USAmericans labeling every Hispanic as a "Mexican".
Never thought such a pretty and elegant lady as Cecilie can scream and roar like she did for Eivor's role. They're both great, Magnus and Cecilie, and I'm absolutely in love with how Cecilie changed her voice for acting.
The line that stuck with me was a line at the end of the game, so spoilers but I really felt the need to share how hard this hit me:
Odin: "I gave you wisdom. Power. Glory. What more do you need!?"
Eivor: "... Everything else..."
How Eivor denied Odin and let go of his obsessions with glory and power to live a happy life with the people he loves is so beautiful.
And it should have ended there.. the actual ending is kinda disappointing..
@@kongdoo1226 Right, I would have been fine without a post-game if it meant that the game had ended with Eivor and Sigurd getting unplugged and going back home. Dethroning king Alfred as the final mission goes against everything this line stands for because Eivor is apparently still trying to conquer for fucks sake.

I chose female Eivor and liked her voice. I have not seen too much footage of male Eivor but I would be reminded of Cnut from The Last Kingdom and it would feel weird.
It’s the best voice actress of any game I’ve played. I’ve been gaming for 45 years now.
I like both their voices in game. It's an unpopular opinion it seems.
Same! They both bring different things to the role. With male eivor it feels like he's come to terms with what happened as a child and there is a sense of humour and warmth. With female eivor you feel as she is cold and reserved because of what she went through.
I'd say male eivor is a bit like spiderman and female eivor like batman.

Same I enjoyed both of the voice actors performance personally. I love how people claim its about his voice acting but they said the same about alexios in the odyssey even tho kassandras voice was better. Feels more like a gender thing to people in that regard when you look at it from that perspective. But I feel like both actors in this one put in good effort for their parts.
I like both their voices from hearing his here. Because I chose the "auto switch" option, cause I didn't care, but it started with female Eivor and it never switched in 100 hours.
I don't know when it would or should, but it seems broken.
Magnus is the perfect guy for Male Eivor. It suits him a lot. For Cecilie, I love her real voice a lot more than in-game.

From what I noticed in this video it seems like they actually asked her to make a "less feminine" voice since she's the voice actor of a warrior
@@stevenlohja6807 That's what i just don't get... Why can't a warrior be feminine? Or the other way around. Everyone is going on and on about inclusion, but they kind of forget what it was really about in the process.

Magnus' voice acting is top notch.
Cecile captures Eivor's complex personality SO well. There were so many times that, just with the voice acting alone, I could find details in Eivor's character; whom she likes or doesn't, when she's excited or sad, or lost in thought. I really got attached to Eivor, and that's in a big part thanks to Cecile :) amazing work!
Magnus blew me away with his performance. Somehow his voice is so smooth and so fierce at the same time

Her voice has so much emotion in it. It’s still interesting to me 35 hours in.
Male Eivor is a top 3 character in the series for me. A fierce Viking in battle, he’s determined & fearless. Kind & compassionate, yet a little ruthless at times. He’s also highly intelligent.
And Magnus voice is what brings it all together. So well done. One of my favorite video game characters of all time.
Magnus Bruun sounded more natural in game but I'm blow away at how unique Cecilie Stenspil's natural voice is

Magnus did a superb job at acting Eivor, odin and the father of Eivor. He really is a phenomenal actor. The writing by Darby was top notch and made Eivor one of the best protagonist of the saga of Ac for me
I just don't understand how so may people dislike female Eivor voice? I have already like 80 hours in the game and sounds really great to me? :D
I think it's not so much of her voice as how she was directed. The devs probably wanted female Eivor to sound more gruff given that she is a shield maiden, leads a band and would be shouting commands. So when Eivor's loud, she sounds more harsh. When she speaks in her normal tone, she sounds softer.
As to why some players do not like her voice, it's a matter of preference / interpretation. I don't have a problem with her voice and I've already finished the game with female Eivor. I was thinking I would do a PT with male Eivor because I like his voice too but given how the story goes, it's unlikely. For Odyssey, I did a few PTs with Kassandra but couldn't do any with Alexios as unfortunately, I did not take to the performance.
For me it's the forced Christian Bale "I am Batman" voice that I dislike. And sometimes she goes back to a normal voice, it's extremly inconsistent. I think if she stayed in the normal voice, I would like it much more.
But I'm going to steal her face for Cyberpunk.
I've never hated a voice actors performance more then with female Eivor.

Amazing job to everyone who all played a roll on making this game possible. I'm currently I'm playing the game now and I'm a fan. Been a fan for many years now. I think Cecilia Stenspil is amazingly beautiful and has done well in her part. Thank you for making this video for us Assassin Creed fans to see behind the scenes.
Before the game came out I was pro male eivor but after playing with female eivor for 25hrs she’s really grown on me and I love her performance so much so I can’t really go back to make eivor

Magnus brunn was perfect as Eivor hes amazing in the last kingdom. The only way they could have made it better would have voiced Alexander Dreymon who plays Uhtred in the show

The voices from booth of them are sooo damn nice and are really good for Eivor!!!

Magnus Bruun might have my favourite performance of the year. When compared to the female, he truly sounds like he brought his own thing to the character. Female is very hit or miss, some delivery is similar to Magnus' soft spoken, eerie voice but other times she sounds like a brute I think due to her changing her voice

Male eivor is better feels more like a Viking game that way because of the cool beards you can have which is what Vikings are usually known for

Female Eivor's voice is my favourite
I love Eivor and Cecilie Stenspil! She did a great job acting Eivor.. I already love Eivor and her voice, her charisma and her brutality and kindness. I know it's really difficult to express and entwine all those different emotions and thought all together, but Cecilie surely made it! I thought my favorite character will ever be Kassandra but Eivor change my mind. My favorite line from Eivor is this: everything else.. from the very last scene in the white room. I love you Cecilie! I'm already looking forward to DLCs.
I’m surprised at how much I like Cecilie as Eivor and Magnus as Havi. It plays better than I thought it would when Ubisoft said that you could let the Animus choose from the more stable DNA stream.
I fell in love with male Eivor's voice asap. It suits the character so much. Female Eivor is also badass and amazing, but her percormance just doesn't move me the same way.

Dialogue in this game is soothing as hell
It’s crazy how a few months before Valhalla came out I had just got done watching “The Last Kingdom” and I would think a Viking game would be so cool and then Valhalla gets revealed and I find out the guy who plays cnut was voice acting him and tbh I don’t know how I felt about it at the time untill the game released and I played it and I just fell in love with the voice acting he did for eivor. Now every time I go back to re watch the show and I hear cnut speak I just think of eivor talking LMAO still haven’t finished the game smh
Somehow I am enjoying this much more than previous AC games, and I have played quite a lot of them.I think the various systems come together in this one better than the two previous games, plus it is quicker to level.

Seeing and hearing Magnus as the protagonist we play as, after seeing his performance from the Last Kingdom is definitely memorable. Feels like you really are a dane throughout the game

I prefer Male Eivor’s accent and cadence. Fits the character much better. Also, while these actors are good, they lack the onset chemistry that Alexios and Kassandra’s VA’s had. Those two were a riot, and I think that’s why I enjoyed Odyssey as much as I did.

The voice of the actors are quite interesting given hearing them say sentences in the game in public and caught everyone in surprise
Man, mocap is weird lol. Props to these actors and actresses for being able to act with little to no props in those weird suits.

I love this game quite allot! I’ve almost conquered all of England. But I’ve yet to see any “story” elements. Is my game bugged? I remember nothing but the intro story, the rest is just raids and side quests.
Ever since Nolan I've missed an authentic voice over... just the way Magnus the son of Ragnar lothbrok(lol) talks alone in the interview is nostalgia & satisfying

Cecilie stenspil was amazing capture montage this new Assassin's Creed Valhalla looks really good and she did a really good job being herself as evoly and Kassandra it's back and awesome video game is was so cool
I'm not a fan of the Female Eivor voice, but Cecilie's real voice is 100% better than the performance.
Guess I'm sticking with Magnus, who gets to use his natural voice.

Remember, both gender are CANON. Male Eivor is Odin reincarmate.
Eivor is the reincarnation, whichever sex they are, which is why the animus can read the Odin self image (male) or the (female) self image of the person running around England at the time. Or was that what you meant?

@@ivanlim3180 Yep, like I said, female Eivor is also Odin reincarnated. The interactive memory of the original Odin is with them regardless, giving them advice and commentating.
Ah common problem here. You see female eivor much like kassandra doesn't actually make full sense. Example for kassandra not making sense would be when she is dressed as a male cultist and no one suspects that the man with a woman's voice is the traitor, and again, she mentions going to strict spartan boy school and is treated as a man. Female eivor on the other hand has the same problem where she is treated as a boy and lives a male life, but worse yet she literally is odin reborn. And the thing is, as we see with basim/loki or roberts/aita, the reborn character is the same in every way. They are missing some memories only. This is also true of male eivor/odin. Bit if you play as female eivor, the main sotry plot thread kinda doesn't work. She's Canon in name only. And really the same can be said about kassandra.
At the beggining I started with male Eivor, cause I heard the female voice and I found it exagerated, I didn’t like it.
Then, when I realized that you can change the gender in the animus whenever you like and I played since that moment til the end with her and somehow I ended loving her voice (except when she was drunk) after that I though that it really suits the character.
But after watching this interview, it would have been awesome if she could have manage to reach a middle point between her natural voice and Eivor’s.
