This is such an emotional song. Mental illness is horrible and just becomes too much sometimes no matter how much love you have. We fight the demons daily.
Hey brother when I first saw this one... I cried like a little baby... Hey bro... Ain't nothing wrong with crying over someone else's pain... It's happening everywhere and Chris shines a light on it and in a powerful way! It was his idea for this video as well... Don't even seem fair for one Man to have All that talent... Our Lord blessed him so we can be Blessed... Stay strong and I luv what ya doing, Keep up up the good work Ur brother from Texas... Tim
Just want to say Nic that we're all thankful that you made it through the things you were going through around the time this came out! And we're glad that you're still with us as well, because you bring a light to allot of us! Don't ever feel bad for feeling hurt for yourself or others, because you help so many through tough times in their own lives!
Heartwrenching! Your reaction was so deep and authentic that you almost made me cry, Young man. Thank you for giving this song a shot even when you're not a huge country fan. Love your channel!
He admires such a wide range of music that’s why I subscribed. I grew up on 80s/90s country and ventured out to rap/ alternative as I got older. I also have a soft spot in my heart for pop music lol Getting into country again now that we’re moving past the post 9/11 era of country music I love seeing people react to everything because good music is good music no matter the genre!
I have a hard time watching this video. My son is bipolar and has to tried unalive himself multiple times. I am so thankful that he didn't succeed. So this song hits home every single time. It's a great song, though. Chris Stapleton is one of my favorite singers.
I love your reaction. This song is amazing and your reaction was right on! Mental Health is a crisis that we cannot stigmatize anymore and I am so glad to see so many addressing it.
Mental health issues are such a tragedy for everyone who is around those that suffer with it. Unfortunately, it is something this Country tends to ignore, sweep under the rug. In most cases, alcoholism & drug abuse are ways individuals try to self medicate b/c there's still a stigma attached to mental health disorders which in most cases are a chemical imbalance in the person, NOT a character weakness. Unfortunately, I have lost several family members to alcohol related issues. People don't seek treatment for mental health b/c of the misconceptions surrounding it.😢
My father and brother both did the same thing and it seems to run in the family. I checked myself into, what I call the grippy sock place, for having those thoughts. I feel much better now and hope to continue to keep fighting the demons that have been chasing my family for decades. This video and song is gut wrenching. Thank you for reacting!!
I cant even tell you how many times Iv seen/heard this video/song.... It hits every time... A little fun fact.. So Chris Stapleton rarely makes music videos. His record label wanted him to make a video to this song.. He said on one condition.. I pick the actors. He got to pick the actors and the label got a video. You can see Chris Stapleton in the bar as a bartender.. And the actors did a Phenomenal job. This is i believe dedicated to his sister who struggles with mental health.
It hits me so hard I struggled for years with suicidal ideation and depression (I still struggle, just much better after medication and getting 6 months of intense residential/ outpatient treatment). Everytime I see this video I think of the words my dad shared during my “graduation” from residential treatment. I’ve rarely seen him cry like that
@@ER-sj4vk I am really glad to hear you are doing better. Not being mentally there is just not fun.. I been through some dark times and some rough paths myself and its hard. Even had a drug problem for many years... It always gets better tho. But its hard seeing that light when its pitch black. But iv gone through so much now and im not quitting. Losing my best friend in 2011 to an OD got me in a dark place.. But now im 7 years clean and doing alot better. Im still paying the price for the years i poisoned my body tho. Everyday there is a reminder of that time.. But everything we gone through now just makes us that much stronger and more fit for the next challenge. 💪 Quitting is just not an option. *"Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem"*
@@Danny_R_ I appreciate this comment so much!! Thank you seriously ❤️❤️ I’m almost a year sober myself! It doesn’t feel like much but I never imagined it. So glad you’re still here making your best friend proud. Much love
Oh lord! Not sure I can watch this again. The saddest damn song ever, OMG. It is so heartbreaking, mostly because the subject is just too familiar for me. Luckily my son did not kill himself, but the idea that it would come to pass one day still hurts my heart. He is doing well now yet there is still that fear in the back of my mind and I fear the day I get that knock on the door or phone call.
Chris Stapleton is immensely talented and the only good thing in "Country" music. His music has a lot of blue in it. I recommend Sometimes I Cry live at the Bing Lounge and I Was Wrong recorded or live at Austin City Limits. He is a genius songwriter and singer
Hi Nick, the first time I heard this song, I was sad. But, just comes to show that someone, like Chrs Stapleton can take this and make it sound sooo beautiful...Peace🤙☝️😌
He is, by far, one of the best singers in the world. No one can compare.

Well said
Thank you for saying this. ❤
My girlfriend had this years back. Trying to do it multiple times, if I wasn't around I could have lost her manytime.
@bbm4473 lucky for her you were around. I wish you both the best in the battle that is mental health ❤️
.
I get them same chills every time I hear this song! I think the man could sing anything with heart! Great review!

You are all of us the first time we saw this video. Just heartbreaking. His voice is just otherworldly.

Its an amazing song and story... from someone who fights his demons everyday
This one's tough. I cry NO MATTER how many times I see it.
@ThatSingerReactions Chris said in interview he wrote this song to bring awareness to Mental Health issues. I think he succeeded….

Chris is great
So many people struggle with mental illnesses. Its hard on them and those that loved them

I'm glad the video was blurred because I can't watch it either without choking up
Idk if you read these comments but if you do there’s a bunch of Chris Stapleton songs you would love
I think this song and video would fit right in with 90's Country. The best decade for country music.

Whiskey Lullaby by Brad Paisley and Allison Krause ❤😊
This one is a tough one 😢
Another great KY singer is Tyler Childers’s. I like his live from the red rock and his album Purgatory.
Another one from Kentucky is Harland Sanders. Colonel Harland Sanders. He is mainly responsible for Kentucky Fried Children.
Lost my 25 year old nephew in 2018😢 he took his on life and never showed any signs of being depressed.
I like your hat! Where'd you get it?
Chris Stapleton played the bartender
There is fantastic song writing out there within country music. Let suggestions take you on a journey.
