Well i was going to run out and get it, now not at all. Thanks for saving me a trip.
One of these trays came with a cheap blender i got off of Amazon and I'm glad im not crazy.
I bought something similar to this from the store, and I think the point IS to just keep a little container in the freezer to stockpile the mini cubes. These are probably more touble than they're worth for most people, honestly, lol. They are fun though, and I'm one of those people who can't drink room temp water so it's nice to spice things up a little every once in a while with mini cubes, despite the impracticality.
yeah, I think they are more of a novelty. These mini cubes are basically the same thing as crushed ice but just a little more aesthetically pleasing.
I purchased mini ice cube trays in a set of 4 and it came with a dish that you were supposed to store them in after you removed the cubes.... First I tried using one tray and what a mess!!! After filling it with water it isn't stable enough to get to the freezer without spilling water everywhere.... So the next time I sat the tray, one at a time in the storage container, filled them one at a time, setting the trays on top of each other. This worked out better but had to use a turkey baster to suck the excess water out of the container. Getting them out of the tray, as you showed was a royal pain but it is really the only way to do it.... I wish I had saved my money and purchased an on the counter ice cube maker
As you know, i live in an pocket size sailing boat. having an 25 liter fridge freezer, that size ice try may be ok for me or someone in an tiny home to make an single cocktail with. Oh by the way iam going over to an new chapter in my life and an new channel. will keep you posted.
Gerard.
It would probably be easier if the lid had a little hole in the middle with a cover so that you can keep the lid on and pour water through the hole and fill faster and less messier. Then once the holes are full then close the cover to the hole and stick in freezer
I don’t have this size, but I do have some trays that hold just 1 tablespoon of liquid. I grow Meyer lemons and Key limes, then squeeze the juice to freeze in the small cell trays for various recipes or to add to iced tea. The Meyer lemon juice is especially good in frosting for a lemon pound cake. I should also do that with oranges!
that’s a great idea! I have a Meyer lemon tree and I might try that the next time I get lemons off of it.
Those mini cubes are fun for juice or milk to flavor iced tea or iced coffee. Or use for freezing things like garlic or ginger to add a bit while cooking.
I have mini ice cube trays where the "cubes" are shaped like bullets. I don't use them for ice. I fill them with pumpkin puree, freeze the pumpkin bullets, and then store the pumpkin bullets in a zip lock freezer bag in the freezer. When I see my cat is constipated, I add one or two pumpkin bullets to his next meal. I thaw them in the hot water that I also always add to his meals.
This ice cube tray is without a doubt the WORST purchase I have ever made for my kitchen. Words cannot adequately describe how frustrating it is dealing with this thing but your video shows much of the aggravation that comes with the mini ice cube trays. Hard to fill. Impossible to empty. Cubes melt almost immediately. Arrrrgh! I still leave mine filled in the fridge during the summer in case I need a little (pun intended) extra ice but I catch myself swearing every time I have to deal with this tray. This video reminds me just how viciously I hate that thing. I'm not a wasteful person but ranting about this tray makes me realize it's time for it to hit the trash!
The one I bought makes mini but not micro and even being round and silicone, it’s still impossible to remove them and I’ll find another use for it or donate mine🙄👍😊. Glad to know it wasn’t just me…😊
I use plastic mini ice cube trays. They work much better.. I hold the tray at a 45°angle and pour water over, while holding it over the next tray to fill. Quick fill, easy twist of the tray to release frozen ice cubes.
If you wet the back, they pop out easily.
There is a distinct lack of cats in this video.
Silly
Too much work.
