Amazing to finally see an ice cube tray on this channel that actually produces a substantial amount of ice when sat side by side with the dollar store tray! And the fact that the gimmick of the product is actually functional and doesn't hinder performance is another nice touch

I'm going to buy one of these right now for my 84-year-old neighbor who struggles with getting the ice out of traditional ice cube trays. She's got pretty bad arthritis in her wrists and hands and can't easily "twist" the ice cube tray to knock the ice cubes out. She's often embarrassed to ask me to knock out her ice cube trays when I go visit her. This one I think would work terrific for her - just simply press on the lid! I still allow it to sit in my counter, for some reason, because it does have a little blending power but unless I'm going to use it to help with thickening soups (pour a little of the soup in a blender, then add it back to the pot), I think I need to say goodbye to it. I have a variant of this that I got from Amazon. It was just a bit more luxe, as it came with TWO ice scoops and a small pair of ice tongs, if you're gonna be scrupulously sanitary. It works as advertised, but if you're gonna stack everything together, it will take longer for the ice to freeze, and notably the bottom tray will take longer than the top. I pour the cube water before bed and then after I get up in the morning, I rotate the trays. Everything should be frozen in 18 hours or so, sooner if you lay out the trays in the freezer like you normally would. I don't, 'cause the compactness of the whole affair is a definite plus.
I've found that it's best to let the trays thaw for five minutes before dumping them out in the basket (bucket?). It just loosens things up a bit so you're not getting so much of a workout trying to pop the cubes. Even so, for some reason one tray will give it up easier than the other. Go fig. All in all, though, I've never had a better experience using ice cube trays! 👍
Oh, and to get perfectly clear ice, I think you have to boil the water you're gonna use first, of course letting it cool to room temperature before pouring it in the trays. From someplace I remember hearing that it's the oxygen/air in the water that makes the cubes cloudy, and bringing it to a boil gets it out. Don't quote me on it, though.

I bought a set of three silicon ice cube trays, with individual covers, on Amazon for around the same price. They work great and have regular size cubes. All silicon trays release much easier if you let them sit at room temp for a few minutes first. This is why the second tray empties much easier. One thing I find interesting is that the ice cubes I make with regular tap water here in Montreal are clearer than even the ones you made with distilled water. But we have excellent quality tap water here in Montreal, in fact I would put it up against any bottled water on the market. This ice tray seems to be well worth the money, however, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy it if I needed one.

My take-away from this review is that it seems to be crucial to say "HI YAA" when releasing the ice 🤷🏼‍♀️😂
Seriously though, I kinda like this one but not crazy about the price. I think the reason that the second tray releases better is simply because it's out of the freezer for a minute longer than the first one. I could be way off, it just seems like it could be the reason.

Ordered it, YOU BETTER BE RIGHT ABOUT HOW AWESOME IT IS, OR... I'll probably poop myself. Really doesn't seem like a punishment for you as much as it is for me. SO... HUH... welll... We'll see how my bowels feel after using it.

have this very one for a few months now. works just like you have shown. great for drinks, but not for coolers, they melt too fast due to size.

Here's a problem scenario I could envision happening: You are running low on ice, so you refill the trays with water and place the whole thing back in the freezer. A few minutes later, your son/daughter/spouse/roommate goes to the freezer to get some ice. They have to move the trays full of water off of the storage to get to the cubes and spill the water all over the freezer and into the storage bin. Maybe not a huge issue, but putting a drawer in the lower compartment might solve this problem… maybe?

I have this ice cube tray and bin and I love it! So much easier to get to the fridge without spilling and while I didn’t find that pushing down on the tray worked well, they twist just like regular ice cube trays. I’m getting one for the downstairs fridge too. Great product!

I'm thinking I'd use 12 or 16 of those small cubes per drink.
