- This is the Gavril Scout! It might be BeamNG's most anticipated mod but it costs $4 to purchase. In this video I'll review this European compact van mod and put its 32 configurations to the test! This is another mod from LucasBE who also made the Cherrier Picnic hatchback mod.

The interior is from a Citroen Berlingo/ Peugoet Partner , and the outside is of VW Caddy. I like the combination
Yeah me too. It's a nice interpretation of a generic Euro style van, and I actually think it's quite good looking!
It could be also inspired by a Dacia Dokker or a Ram Promaster City

Edit: The Peugot, Citroen, and Toyota look near identical XD probably to save on design costs or sum.
I was very fortunate to have early access to this mod, and after driving it and recording a showcase before the public release, I can say that this mod is definitely worth it.
It's fun to drive, has tons of attention to detail, it's super functional, and so much more that I could ramble on about.
It hits all the right spots for a quirky, lore friendly BeamNG vehicle. It feels like a developer designed it!
Yeah I would have loved to check this out earlier 😭. The van is such a great mod it really could be in the base game, and I love the way it looks!
The problem is that you can't have a good price for paid mods if compared to the price of the game. You had to sell map/car for about 0.57 $ which would be a "fair" price

Also why I said why pay for it is because there are always leakers, People simply don't seem to follow regulations and laws put in place and will still go against them.

I think there's a chance that beamng devs could reach out to the mod author and ask him if they could implement his car into the game officially, it's honestly so high quality and fits the game very well

It wont happen coz they would need to send him money from every new payment for this game, bcs content made by him is included, and its not about the money, but about the organisation around…
@@Johngloger It wouldn't have to be like that, they could just ask him and pay him to let them use their idea or just give him a contract to implement this into beamng offically, this could be done in a lot of ways
@@voytec448 or they can go the collosal order(developers of city skylines) way and just hire him. Collosal order hired the dude who made a really good mod for cities skylines called Intersection Marking tool, Node controller and another insanely good mod.

@@SimulatorAdventures Is it like a VR headset you wear while you play, or is it almost like a eye/face tracker thing?
When you pit someone you have to first make contact and then slightly turn into them on the side of the rear bumper or the rear quarter panel to spin them out. Hitting them in the rear doors won’t do anything but cause you to loose control.
I've been watching the development of this mod for a while now and I can definitely say this is one of the best mods in beamNG
Yeah it's been a long time coming but it's been worth it!
3:30 i have driven VW Caddy's(this mod is heavily influenced by it) and due to it being on the MQB Evo platform its comparable to the VW Golf. I have driven both a manual(1.0L TSI 101hp, 175 N-m/129lbf-ft of torque) and automatic(2.0L TDI 150hp Diesel, 340N-m/250lbf-ft of torque) VW Caddy from the previous generation(the 2015 Facelift) and they drive very nice, not as nice in a small town as lets say a Opel Corsa but comparable to the average mid size European SUV(i.e. Renault Kadjar, Volkswagen Touareg, Opel Grandland....)
you really want a diesel if you haul cargo tho and i do prefer an automatic(but thats because i prefer Diesel with an Automatic due to the rpm)
It kinda makes sense for this to be called a Gavril, because the VW Caddy and the Ford Tourneo share a platform. (Ford Tourneo was built on VWs MQB platform)

This van in my opinion gets a 5 star crash safety rating cuz it held up strongly even when it crashed into a barrier at 95 mph. Amazing!!

I hate paid mods because this game has a ton of cool mods that have the same quality as the paid ones
They are good. Period. The idea we can get amazing mods and devs can get paid from this makes devs want to make better and higher quality mods. At the end of the day nearly every paid car has a free demo version including this one so if you don’t wanna spend money you don’t have to

I feel like the Gabriel would be based on more American-European vans, like the ford transit.
I have the mod and i love it however I feel like it can use some other engine option along with a EV version as well as some other body type like a longline or a extended roof but never the less amazing mod definitely needed in beam
I think LucasBE said they're adding an EV version soon
The Caddy is basically a transit connect or whatever, theyre the same van nowadays, look almost identical
Since Gavril is something like Ford or Dodge, I can totally see the Gavril Scout being a RAM Promaster City.
I hope the developers can make this vehicle in game original

No, it’s a cheerier with a different body and a few other bits and bobs. I’m not saying I can do this sought of thing but also people do mods this good for free.
I think the weird glass is supposed to be the sun getting reflected by the cracks, it can happen in a real car but it's still kind of a random thing to add to a mod

Very thorough review and video, well done really. This is a cool mod and certainly fills a missing niche in the game, however in my somewhat biased opinion it is not worth the money. It is an inherently good mod, but I wouldn't download it myself even if it was free. Reason being, I only like mods that are built from the ground up, engine, suspension design/underside and all. While this mod is very detailed, it is clearly just a Cherrier FCV platform if you look underneath. Still, you could make the case that it's lore friendly, as many European brands do similar cross platforming, IE Renault and Dacia, the Opel Corse/Peugeot 208, etc. Not to mention Daimler/Chrysler in the early 2000's. I'm a stickler with mods, but I still have to commend the creator of course. Lots of cool details and functionality, and really a dev quality vehicle.
That's fair enough. I love custom engines in modded vehicles and yeah as far as I know this car has the Cherrier engines. It would be nice to see more original content from this mod although LucasBE does plan to update this mod with further things like EV variants at no further cost to the people that bought the original mod.
@@SimulatorAdventures indeed, which I can at least understand cause new engines and suspensions take a while to develop. It is good the updates are free at least, and I’m sure he’ll make more cool/original stuff in the future

It looks more like a Transit Connect rather than a Vw Caddy
I see that this vehicle mod was inspired by the citroen minivan, definetly highly detailed and good looking clone of it. 10/10 in my opinion.
If it had a little bit more features and options and 1 dollar reduced price it would be okay but like this it's a bit expensive for it
I'm from the US, and I didn't even know this was called a European-style van, it just looks like a Ford Transit Connect, which I thought it was supposed to be based on, not a Volkswagen.
Edit: the new Volkswagen Caddy and Ford Transit Connect are actually the same car, so even if it's based on the VW, it's still a Ford. The name works.

This is way worth the money compared to the DFA pack, I won't get into details, but the dev got banned from the forums, was a free mod, became paid, and he banned me from his discord for not buying the mod (I think, cannot rejoin, won't give me any reason why, and I was never active, was waiting for the gmt400 update to buy it) this dev is way more respectful, will be buying it asap.

Actually, It's also based on the European version of the well-known Ford Transit Connect, a small van, just one step below the Ford Tourneo, and one step above the Ford Transit Courier.
Opel combo starts for me
Sporty variants of vans/minivans I know:
Renault Espace MKIV 3.5 V6 - essentially the result to the question: "What happens when we shove a Nissan 350Z engine into a FWD minivan and give it a 6-speed auto"
Mercedes R63 AMG - It counts as a Minivan, although Mercedes tried to give it its own class. It has 505 brake HP and does 0-60 in around 5 seconds, which is insane considering it weights 2.3 tons. This and the ML63 are the only AMGs you can get with AWD. Even the basic R-Class does 0-60 in less than 7 seconds.
Renault Avantime V6 - A french Two-Door - yes, two doors - Minivan with quite a bit of power from a 207 HP 3.0 V6.
Chevrolet HHR SS - It uses the engine from the Cobalt SS, so a 2.4 liter 4 cylinder with around 260 HP.
Ford S-Max 2.5 - This is a Ford Minivan with a secret, a 2.5 liter Volvo Inline 5. It sounds great, and it does 0-60 in 7.2 seconds.
Would you recommend this mod over the cherrier picnic he made, i was thinking of getting one, just skeptical due to having to pay through whatever gumroad is.
It really depends on what you want. They're equal quality but one is a small french hatchback and the other is a van. Gumroad is pretty trustworthy, but I believe you can also buy the mods on Ko-Fi too.
Odd my friends and I play this and none of us were the slightest bit bothered about this and I would never pay for any vehicle.
Honestly, if the mod isn't stolen, and is high quality, i'll pay for it, i don't see a problem. For example: Lots of trucks for ETS2 are paid. However, they are very high quality, so imo, it's worth it.
I have one question, since I live in the us, can you still buy the mod? This mod looks so good and I really want it. My dad says he can't buy it because his bank wont allow the transfer over seas, idk.

In my mind putting the Gavril name brand on the car makes quite a bit of sense considering the fact that Gavril is supposed to be a Ford / GM mix in the Beamng universe and as Ford's equivalent to the Caddy, the Transit Connect share pretty much the same platform and look quite identical appart from the styling. thus putting the Gavril brand on a car that is essentially the same as both the Caddy and the Connect is only logical.

Seems cool but I wouldnt buy it. The van it self at a 100+ MPH crash dosnt deform as it should? Like no bends or kinks in the pillers just aint relistic.

On one hand im all down for financially supporting content creators. But with a history of rigs of rods ans other games whose most highest fidelity mods were free i find it off putting.
Paid mods are not unique to BeamNG, they're very common in flight sims and trains sims. I imagine this mod has taken hundreds of hours of work for one guy working on their own, surely that's justification for a paid mod?
@@SimulatorAdventures still at the end of the day its a mod and not an "official" release. Im pretty sure that, let's say a patch breaks the mod there are 0 repercussions for the developer if he choses to abandon the mod.

In Italy the (local) police uses vans to get on car crashes. The state police uses mainly for riots.

Seems like you haven't driven a caddy in real life since you're surprised by the handling. Small "vans" like this (nobody would call this a van in Germany) do handle like cars (especially when empty), because they are cars.
Hell these things are smaller than the average American "car" which would be more of a boat in my book.
My only frame of reference is my Saab 9-5 wagon, and this handles almost identically to that so I was surprised
@@SimulatorAdventures The saab I have not driven. Weirdly enough I like them a lot as a brand even though I never had the pleasure to drive a saab.
To me they seem like purpose built, quality, no bs cars. But I have no experience to speak of.
On the topic of van/transporter, even a mercedes benz sprinter mostly handles like a car, tiny bit top heavy in comparison, barely noticeable, but they do feel a lot like cars as well. You do notice that you're pushing a lot of air around though.

Yeah I think car based vans are pretty interesting but in the UK they're mostly Ford transit connects or something like that so not very interesting!
