I think @AutocarIndia needs to start focussing on passenger safety far more while reviewing cars. Crash test results etc. as well.

how much is after sale servicing charges?
I wish Datsun would have given a much better noise insulation, increase the length, give the normal seat belts at the rear, give a bit bigger tires and great dashboard with a touch screen.

I suppose the Datsun haters here expect a Mercedes G Wagon at the price point offered by Datsun. I have owned almost all the entry level hatchbacks and find the Redigo a very good value for money proposition. Those who are talking about the so called "safety" offered by other hatchbacks - please refer the NCAP ratings & find out for yourself ! IMHO am very much happy about the reliability & cost of ownership plus nothing to complain about Nissan's service either.
And what about after sales??

Another entry level hatchback from Datsun. It looks more down market than Hyundai Eon and Maruti Alto 800. As I am observing Indian hatchback cars market, people are looking for more premium specs in their first car. People are opting for VFM cars like Tata Tiago and Hyundai Grand i10. Hence, I expect manufacturers to come up with cars which have more features and Value For Money also. I rate Datsun Redigo 1.0 car 2 out of 5.

Riyaz Madappally I am not comparing Tiago with Redigo 1.0. Even I am not promoting Tiago. My point was in the times when people are opting for more VFM and full featured cars like Tiago, why manufacturers are coming with zero safety cars like Redigo 1.0. I just told my views and not promoting any cars here. Thank you.
PAVAN RAO I agree with you bro. For example I'm using Tata Nano LX 2012 model. Although it is high-end model, it has lot of exposed metal sheet, no audio player and also no power steering. I don't have any other alternative option at that time except Alto, which is uncomfortable due to my knees touching steering wheel. I think Tiago is the best option rather than going for Redi Go as per specs..

Dont compare a mid range car like Tiago with am entry level car like redigo.
You could buy a second hand Nissan Teana for that price and have the luxury of a full fledged sedan.
Datsun should focus on those exposed metal sheet and weird rear seat belts. Yes I agree that Datsun's engine is good, but who will buy this car?. I think a middle class people will buy for sure and they don't have money to exchange this car for better ones. I know that this car's price is cheap and it looks a way better than even Hyundai Eon, but a car without even 1-litre bottle storage with awkward power window buttons position. Make this car price 20k more and make it a better interior-looking car.

Tiago on road price is around 2-2.5 lakhs more than Datsun Redigo. Redigo is an entry level hatchback.

if only they just designed dashboard better... its just ugly.. dont put expensive material but atleast make it 21st century look like... right now it looks like some 80's maruti 800.
atleast provide lcd display screen on music player it costs around 200Rs at max.
even cheap dvds have it...
and that grill of ac ducts designer just copy pasted some 80's dashboard CAD design and just streched it a bit...
rest of car is really nice good looking, actually its better than most, but that dash is deal breaker
