For me as a kid it was the Pirates outfield, Barry Bonds, Andy Van Slyke and Bobby Bonilla in the early 90's. I actually went to a game in 91 at Three River Stadium and Doc Gooden was actually pitching that day for the Mets.
@@relicman did you enjoy Bobby Bonilla Day yesterday?? Haha. Yeah those guys were awesome too. I randomly remember their pitcher… Sid Walk. 😂😂 what a name
Eric Davis is my favorite player (McArthur Park) and got to see him play in 1996. But watching Doc and Strawberry in 1985 was amazing and such great memories.
Dwight Gooden 1984/1985 is still the best pitcher I ever saw. grew up in Jersey, we would record his west coast games on our VCRs and watch them the next day after school. and we were Yankees fans.
Doc Gooden and Darryl Strawberry were baseball GODS back in the 80s. I am so happy both of them survived. They both are examples of good people who were exposed and succumb to the trappings of fame in a big city New York market. I was there and I went to those METS games at the time and NY was full of buzz about the Miracle METS. Thank you VLAD for provide a safe platform for these legends to tell their story. It’s a lesson for all of us think about when you’re at the top of the world and can have anything you want, what will you do and how would you behave. Stay healthy Doc and be a mentor to the next generation
Still remember the Giant mural on the hi rise building coming out of the Lincoln tunnel NYC in 1984, Doc winding up and throwing the Heater, Iconic image i can still see !!!
I'm a cricketer (fast bowler) so I don't know too much about baseball but I've been fascinated by pitchers most of my life because of the similarities in the sport, this interview has taken me down a baseball rabbit hole that's quickly becoming a new passion I think
@@tommyfu9271 You’re right. But you never hear him mentioned among the all time greats. And for those 3 years or so he was as good as any pitcher who ever pitched ever
Doc was the greatest pitcher In New York history “ This guy was 20 years old with 20 wins also a 21 year old cy young winner and I remember this 21 year old kid bought a whole street for his family to live on in Tampa and bought a whole 200 acres down in Cobb Georgia for his grandfather and his families his aunt and cousins’ This guy was a great kid and also a great person that will give you the shirt off his back ‘God Bless Doc Gooden
Several years back I read Doc’s autobiography, it was really good . Being from Seattle , we always hate the Yankees ( even though doc was mainly a Met he still had his time with the yanks) but I still always respected and admired how well of a pitcher doc was . I had no idea about docs struggle with the drugs and his story about too being hungover and sick from the drugs watching the rest of his team walking the parade from when they won the World Series from a TV in the projects !! That must’ve been the worst feeling in the world 😮
Dudes a legend 🙌 🎉 glad hes still alive and in a better space in his life crazy how sometimes watching these vald interviews we find somebody we never ever heard about until he gets on this platform salute vlad for giving these folks a voice 👏 💪🙏💯
I definitely noticed It seemed like Darryl was more likely to hit a home run or something when Doc was on the mound.

Vlad, I have no words for that question you asked Dwight. EVERYone starts in the minors dude! C'mon man, you have to do your research and be better bruh! It's been that way since the beginning of time dude!
Dwight Gooden, Darryl Strawberry and Eric Davis..... my GOATS in baseball as a kid

Eric Davis⚾️💪

Eric Davis did everything before his injuries. 5 tool player with tremendous bat speed!!

Him and Strawberry’s 30 for 30 is one of my favorites!!
Did you watch the one on the 86 Mets? It was great too.

that 86 team was loaded. Besides doc and darryl, they had dykstra, hernandez, carter, knight. Im surprised they didnt win more than one championship
Still remember the Giant mural on the hi rise building coming out of the Lincoln tunnel NYC in 1984, Doc winding up and throwing the Heater, Iconic image i can still see !!!
I remember having that wind up on a shirt!
Davey fought for Doc. They did NOT want him up in the big leagues that young and Davey insisted on him.
It’s extremely I mean extremely rare for a MLB draft pick to go straight to the majors vlad knows nothing
That 86 Mets team was the ish 💯
I'm a cricketer (fast bowler) so I don't know too much about baseball but I've been fascinated by pitchers most of my life because of the similarities in the sport, this interview has taken me down a baseball rabbit hole that's quickly becoming a new passion I think
Everyone goes to the minors vlad. Do you know anything about the sport?
Nope
Seriously that was an all time dumb question
He doesn’t know anything about any sport
Literally everyone
Vlad doesn't know shit...he wears the same goochi track suit
Doc was my childhood sports hero! Wore #16 because of him love these interviews.
I remember getting his rookie baseball card when i was a kid i was so happy to get it and Darryl strawberry mlb has some great players in the 80s 💯
The tops rookie was one of my favorite Cards ever...
Dwight Gooden & Darryl Strawberry are an inspiration to many ⚾️💯🇺🇸
They both were very talented and Had a lot skills set then others 👍👏💯
He killed it at St. Lucy! Doc was so dope
I love Doc. Good man. When is Vlad gonna learn about baseball? I mean anything. 😅😅😅
Vlad has zero baseball knowledge. Asking him why he did not go straight to the majors.
I think a lot of people forget just how dominant Doc was from 84-86
Nobody who knows who he is forgets that. It's the reason he's still famous.
@@tommyfu9271 You’re right. But you never hear him mentioned among the all time greats. And for those 3 years or so he was as good as any pitcher who ever pitched ever
@@bradlott3284 because he's not among the all time greats. He shouldn't be mentioned with them.
He had a couple of incredible years though.

Doc & Straw were favorite players
That would be whitey ford

Wow dude said he was passed out in the bar 😂 imagine that now mlb player on tmz from multiple fans video taping him passed out from their phones
Now's the worst time to be famous
The story is the guys at the bar told Darryl, "Yeah that's your new starting pitcher" and Doc's passed out at the bar.
That’s just part of what made that era special.
It's amazing how little Vlad knows about sports
Doc is a good natured guy. Always has been.
I still have some Doc Gooden baseball cards from the 90’s while on the Mets . I’m upset they’re not worth much.
Doc still being the youngest player in the MLB Allstars game is crazy...thank you Doc for being the truth on that mond.🎉🎉
McCartner was the best as a kid listening to him in baseball uncle Charlie is a slang for curveball
Doc was an amazing pitcher, and I wish he could have had a longer career.
Vlad don't know shit about baseball. Ain't no 17 year old going str8 to the majors smh
Dudes a legend 🙌 🎉 glad hes still alive and in a better space in his life crazy how sometimes watching these vald interviews we find somebody we never ever heard about until he gets on this platform salute vlad for giving these folks a voice 👏 💪🙏💯
I see Andre Dawson every now and then at the gym in miami. He's a real humble dude!
It’s crazy there really hasn’t been a black American pitcher that could blow the doors off fastball since the 80’s.
Dontrelle Willis
Dwight was a huge baseball talent!
Did vlad ask him why he didn't go straight to the majors being he was was a top pick ??
I remember strawberry from the simpsons
Roadhouse
A 19 year old playing in the all star team is crazy.
I would’ve been jealous of Darryl going with Whitney Houston!
Long live Doc Gooden
vlad don't know ish about sports😂 "why did you go to the minors first instead of starting in the majors?"
Doc & Daryl 🐐🐐
All these years and Gooden didnt know Lord Charles came from lol
I just can't did he really just ask why he went to the minors? C'mon Vlad seriously
Prime Doc🗽⚾💪🏿
That coke has ruined a lot of careers. This dude was really special.
Bud Light ain't Malt Liquor.
Schlitz malt liquor the 🐂!!!
The O.G before O.E 😂
Dave’s Johnson was the real deal
I still cant believe that ignoramus team filled with out of control players won in 86.
Candlestick Park 1984
Doc 🔥🍿
Vlad has no clue!!! Everyone starts out in the minors!!!
If not for bad choices Doc could've won 250-300 game no doubt. Mets get a least 3-4 🍹. 🍓 easy 500 💣. 🗽 is rough
His arm got blown out he was pitching alot of innings
@@jamesbowman8138 Nah his 👃 got coked out! 😂
The amount of times Vlad is unprepared for interviews let's you know he's lazy
Jeez vlad doesn’t know players go to the minors lmao
Vlad don't know baseball

I thought he had a body suit on 😅
Nyc is the wrong place to have an addiction problem. The city will string u out and take all ya teeth back in the 80s 90s
What's going on with his stomach yo?
This interview was wasted on this platform
He must have got one of those surgeries
wu tang.
Jealous crackheads is wild 😂😂
Glad do you even watch sports!!?
Vlad you never drank a 40 in the 80s, you never did anything that was cool at the time, you do everything after the fact
I was they pusha
This interview is an embarressment. Vlad knows less than nothing about baseball and should be ashamed of himself for asking such dumb questions
Vlad, your interviews suck!!!
