I have had cans disintegrate like the soda can you showed at the start of the video. I changed to using fiber reinforced Quickrete. That’s solved the problem and I can shoot the can’s several times as long as I can find them.
@@morecannonfab I’ve got a video posted on my channel shooting one of my mortars. It used soup cans filled with concrete. The particular cans in that video were about 20 years old and have been shot many times. Good luck with it.
My 1” bore handgonne you made me years ago still draws crowds at the shooting range. Again please let me know if you can make me one of those Finnish mortars!
It is thin wall stuff for this one, same as a modern infantry mortar. I use a high strength seamless alloy steel same as a modern mortar. I also use a powder chamber that limits the charge to 200 grains.
@@morecannonfab So it's similar construction to your Coehorn mortar with the standing powder chamber...just longer? Brilliant design. I'm guessing the outside tubing doesn't need to be real thick because the internal standing powder chamber is what has to handle the highest initial pressure.

Thanks for the advice. I’ll try that next.

@@carlosdelvalle3729 The Finnish mortars are not available.
Hi Dom, how much $ for this mortar. Can you make me one. Keep up the great work
Nice
Making any more of these? I'd take one to add to the collection.
I will be later this spring.
Yes, I will be.
@@morecannonfab I will send you an email.
Did you happen to make any more? Definitely interested 🇺🇸💪
What material are you using for the cannon barrel/breech? It looks like pretty thin wall stuff.
