Looking back on it again, the animal I encountered in Destin looks like it might even be a Cownose Ray or Eagle Ray. It's so hard to tell, but I'd love to hear what you all think it could be!
I agree, that did look like a stingray. I love all the rays here. In Jamaica I saw my largest one. I was swimming over a huge patch of very dark sea grass and a massive ray was startled. I was right on top of it and lucky I didn't get barbed like Steve Irwin. I live closest to Perdido key so I spend a lot of time there. I love it.
