One rig I did service was about 25 miles offshore.
    A 30 minute helicopter ride.
4 hours in a cargo boat when it was too foggy for a helicopter and too rough for a crew boat.

Serious question from a american-german: Why does someone get into a job in the oil-industry nowadays with outdated fossil fuels declining rapidly? Really, food? It´s really interresting! Don´t you believe that in at least 10 years you will bitching around about loosing your job? Why don´t get a job at a more modern industry which will be there until u retire?

Our pads were carved out of mountains with the rig deck split at 45 degrees, drilling -35 angles. We only drilled 1000 ft (~300 m) on these holes. Weatherford looks like driller's heaven to me.

its just hot and dusty here not much snow around and you can bet they gave a rig a good clean up before filming for the boss or it was the 1st day there and they hadn't made a mess yet

I used to do roustabout rig up and rig down. And we'd rig wash ND them mud holes and them shakers were nothing to fuck with lol spend about 22 hrs in mud holes all day And you'll see why you get payed so much h for oil field.

I worked for Ensign for 4 months. You had one small room with two bunk beds in it. One bathroom for everyone to share. No food was provided. Driller and tool pusher didn’t care about safety as they smelt of whiskey every day. That being said I enjoyed the work. But the morale of that specific rig was horrible.
