One rig I did service was about 25 miles offshore. A 30 minute helicopter ride. 4 hours in a cargo boat when it was too foggy for a helicopter and too rough for a crew boat.

Apply to a Halliburton or something, that will give you experience rig related. Or depending where you live there are plenty of entry level jobs on the rigs available.
Enjoyed the video. I worked on a smaller RC rig operation before. We provided all our own meals, and it was tough work. Our pads were carved out of mountains with the rig deck split at 45 degrees, drilling -35 angles. We only drilled 1000 ft (~300 m) on these holes. Weatherford looks like driller's heaven to me.
i got my 1st jump by showing up on site asking if there were any no shows. there was a guy hung over and didnt make it in what they didnt know was that was my dad and he told me to just go take his job. i missed the 80,s and the no red tape
I Flew through midland texas and talked with a guy who once worked on a rig. His leg and arm where mangled in a rig incident. He said it happens more often then not, lots of messed up guys for life. Dangerous job

When I was working rigs we didn't had a camp, had a small caravan, parked it nearby at a farmers place, cooking my own food, or take out chinese. You guys are spoiled now every 3 hours food. Shit wish I was young again.

I've been on many many drill rigs and not one has ever been that spotless, mud,snow,ice ,may be in Australia, I'm talking about north Dakota, good movie though , clearly safety is your number one priority, I'm impressed
its just hot and dusty here not much snow around and you can bet they gave a rig a good clean up before filming for the boss or it was the 1st day there and they hadn't made a mess yet

I used to do roustabout rig up and rig down. And we'd rig wash ND them mud holes and them shakers were nothing to fuck with lol spend about 22 hrs in mud holes all day And you'll see why you get payed so much h for oil field.
I worked for Ensign for 4 months. You had one small room with two bunk beds in it. One bathroom for everyone to share. No food was provided. Driller and tool pusher didn’t care about safety as they smelt of whiskey every day. That being said I enjoyed the work. But the morale of that specific rig was horrible.
I worked with you guys, in Mexico, I was a floorhand, my respects, is one of the most dangerous jobs ever.

Yeah in Australia they are all way smaller and easier to work on. Plus they supply you with awesome food 24/7
and they are super strict on hours. You rarely work over 12

This type of land work is unheard of. They are using hydraulics which make it a lot safer. Roughnecks in Russia and America don’t have it so easy
