Great chops as always, Grace! I love how you paint outside the lines and don't box yourself into just the blues on those quick runs. Also dig the duel... the warmth of a Gibson and the quack of a strat pushing back and forth then ending in harmony.
Yes! It's all of those things plus Seatbelts, John Mayer, Cory Wong... it's just pure joy in here. This is the first I'm hearing of Grace but I can't wait for more!
So refreshing to witness Grace, a rising virtuoso, completely embracing and featuring all her wonderfully talented bandmates with humility. It's not just all about Grace, its about the band and the music. So Damn Good!!
Thank you Grace! This sound was popular when I was a kid in the late 70s and early 80s. My brothers hated that I liked it, but I stuck to it. Making the crowd jump is always a good thing. Don’t forget to reach for the bottom and grab a blues set. Kudos, young lady.
I remember when this song first got released as a single and I heard it for the first time I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Listened to it on repeat almost all day and each time I heard some new quirk. Keep up the work, you and your band are an inspiration to the next gen, and hope for the greats
Ohhh HELL YES!!!! This IS MUSIC!!! I listened to about 30 seconds-backed the video up, got out my guitar and went for a damn good ride!! Plugged into my small PA-Yeaaa...the neighbors were probably saying "Tell me Why You Do That"🤣
@@michaellewchuk8272 Thanks-Just so deeply impressed with her--tone, phrasing, everything. It makes this old blues rocker see hope for the genre. Oh, by the way, there is only one true way to listen this song>> Turn It Up!!!!!
Also, there is something poetic in seeing a wonderful, young player like Grace, playing on a beautiful vintage '61 SG and just making it sing to the world like it was intended to do. Simply lovely!
Grace, this reminds me of Sly and the good time rocking soul I listened to when I was in High School. You adding in killer blues licks and trading off with the man on the Strat. Great music that you can listen to all day. Puts a "Smile" on my face!!!!!
I said this before. This song takes me back to the 70s R n B I loved that music. I used to dance my ass off. Wait My foot is tappin Oh no there goes my legs My hips are feelin funny What are my arms doin Now my head in nodding along I'm GROOVIN OH YAYA❤❤❤❤❤
I hadn't heard that kind of sound since the early eighties. It sounds so smooooth, so gooood. There's a place in the song when you're jamming with a dude who plays left, and he does it so deep so smooth, as you two played it took me back to Bob James and Earl Klug, One on One, sweet album. I love the mellow vibe that you all brought and grew in that session. Thank you Gracie, You stir up beautiful tunes
I hope you never lose the love for making this kind of music you have right now. I've missed Sly and the family for a while and it's good to hear it coming back.
Dear Grace, I have been following your music from France since a year or so. I am in awe : your talent, your touch of your instrument so deeply rooted in blues, the way you jump from a scale to another, your - well how do they say "phrasé" in English. You make the guitar talk and I can't wait to see and hear your music in Europe! Keep it live! Rémi
This piece is a bomb, funk, soul, and power blues mixed, as they did in the early 70s. And your talent, ability and taste in playing the genre are crazy, almost alien considering your very young age, you play like a veteran of late 60's blues rock. Your "duel" with the strato here is very tasty, your phrases have an almost trumpet-sax melodic flavour.
Nice to hear some 70's funk played right, Nice jam, nice vocals and cool guitar work, that duo guitar thing at the end really cool ! Fun, Fun ,Fun need more music like this.
Came here from a marty schwartz video and im immediately hooked by this song, its funky, unique and fun unlike most modern rock songs definitely someone thatll change modern rock music in the future! 💯🔥
Love the guitars call & response, the Staple Singers break, the Detroit sounding bkg singers not to mention that Cleveland bass line and groove. I'm happy that Funk is in her wheelhouse!!!
That opening line, "you might not be clean, but you sho clean up" is the best line I've heard in years. Grace is phenomenal on that guitar also. Fresh is all I can say.
keep it up, all! what y'all got is fully diggable, it's gonna catch and hold on. Grace, i love your touch and the way you draw out the ends of your lead lines. damn fine stuff all 'round. CHEERS
Just discovered Grace. Great playing, amazing tone, fantastic feel, variation, and great selection of licks that really make the guitar sing. Authentic playing that's reminiscent of Page, Hendrix, Beck, Clapton, and many others, bringing back real music. And not even 19. You're at 16.5k subscribers but you'll have a few million in no time. Keep playing and smiling!
Wow, this sooo good, the song, the video, the style of it all, very wholesome and wonderful to look at/listen to. Tell me how u do that, @3:15 divebombing on a Les Paul with no whammy bar, awesome stuff! Tasteful playing from everyone and beautiful singing all around too. Love it, keep making this wonderful music.
I have just watched your interview on the Music Is Win TH-cam channel and I just had to listen to your new song, and I must say that it's absolutely fantastic, it's got a Funk soul vibe to it with a touch of B.B. King.. brilliant
Killer track.. it's fabulous, I love it. The guitar tones are in your face fantastic..... I did not expect you to be trading guitar licks w/ anyone on this and it's spectacular! Fun video, thoroughly enjoyed that as well. This will be on heavy rotation over here. Congratulations!! Outstanding!
What a beautiful piece of music, Grace! The way you have integrated the Slide into your game is very singular. A beautiful mixolydian phrase in a minor penta, and a short (but strong!) passage "Out": I love it! Signed: a fan of France
amazing first single, i can see the dueling guitars being a major sound invasion of the mind live!!!! congrats to you and the entire band, sounds so tight!!!!
Wow, so cool. The entire band and production is great. This really gives hope in these strange modern times. Thank you! Grace is a gift to all the women, girls and everyone.
A first-rate funk/soul tune. As others have mentioned, it's nice to hear a band playing together with real instruments. Love the interplay during the solo. Well done Grace and The Hodge Podge! (Mustn't forget producer John Osborne).
Awesome sound, Grace, looking forward to the album🤘🏼

Grace’s tasty licks say it all. Very fine work!
Thank you guys for bringing back the 70s Sly sound!!!! What a time to be alive! Ya'll just became a national treasure. Fair winds!
I mean. It's Parliament. It's Sly. It's the Peppers. It's still also new. This is RIGHT IN MY FACE I LOVE IT.

@@biltrex Thumbs up for Wong!
A more recent band they remind me of, and they could do some good work in the general direction of, is Alabama Shakes.
Old school funk and soul
😁 Spot on
Damn!!!! That dual solo has such a groove and the HIGHEST level of “nasty” of anything I’ve heard in quite some time
The Hodge Podge is REAL MUSIC! So FRESH, FUN, & FUNKY -- what BEAUTIFUL people!!! Thank you all!!!
Funk is back...thanks Grace!!!

the “ Gibson ~ Bowers “ signature series ⭐️

We say "phrasing" -- you're pretty close! Our language is a tough one to contend with, because of its many eccentricities.

One of the grooviest grooves since the Isley Brothers Who's that Lady and the guitar licks are stellar.
