I live and i am born in Sweden in the september of 1983, i love this fermented fish that i even started to ferment my own fish at home. It's healthy to eat if you have stomach for it. I can understand people who get sensitive to the smell but eating it is something else and if you have trouble with your digestion this makes it better. Once a person who likes this food eats it i don't think that person will stop eating it. I recommend to eat it outside, when i ferment fish i clean out the fish so it doesn't leave a strong smell. I have fermented several times and it isn't hard because you put like 30% of salt and it kills every bad bacteria.
Är du fran Sverige? Jag bor i Schweiz och är ofta i Östersund. Det är interressant med dina berättelser. Det Musik passar också. Sill är jättebra. Ha det gott.
I ate surstromming two years ago. It smelled like Satan took a dump and clogged the toilet, but once I got over this, I really enjoyed it, especially with red onion, sour cream, and cherry tomatoes on bread. I actually felt sorry when the rest of the group decided to end it and throw away the rest of the can. I can only wonder what it would have been if I had some beer on the side. I bet it would have been great! Too bad it's pretty expensive in Romania, and almost impossible to find.
As I saw this brand of Surströmming in several videos, ist this some kind of "Surströmming lite" 😉or a modern variant? My understanding was that you have to open the pressurized can under water and then water the fish for some time before eating. And yes, we love to spend our vacation in Sweden and Norway, but never tried Surströmming. And will not. 🤪
@@rome0610 it’s a classic brand of surströmming from the 1940:s. And holding it under water is to get rid of the juice and smell that comes when opening. We had a plastic bag instead, to keep all the smell and flavour 🤣
I wonder how smelly it is. I'm from Indonesia and we have smelly terasi (fetmented shrimp paste), smelly ikan asin (salted fisb) and off course the smelly durian fruit. Does surstromming really smell stronger? Anybody knows? Either way, I'd love to try it. I think I'd like it.

That StuG life-shirt is really something else :D
Plastic bag was the real hero! haha love the videos!
@@revvrie4725 yes, I didn’t want that juice over my stuff 😆
The Germans never invaded Sweden during ww2. They just drove right through because of the smell.
The taste is not bad and you quickly get used to the smell, a couple of minutes in a room with the can and you don't smell it anymore.

Swedens Army. Horribly in Spring and Summer. Undefeated in Autumn and Winter. Here's why.
I would never ever have the courage to try it.
For me the smell was enough 🤣
I have never tried it, but i have tried lutefisk. People still make it in Minnesota and Wisconsin
Tjenare! Trevlig vlogg 😊. För att helt slippa doften så brukar jag öppna i diskhon under vatten, vill man så kan man ju passa på att skölja filéerna 😀
Hi, would you like to visit my country I'll show you beautiful places and museums, culture and other and you can enjoy different types of cuisine 😊❤
So how long you need to avoid peoples before the smell was all gone??
I did not eat it so after cleaning everything off the smell was gone. Just don't trow anything inside 🤣
You should try it with a big slice of durian fruit.🤢 Love your dress Sophie.
