Thank you for sharing your process! This video is helping me. I am working on a BU with this same motor. I am wondering if I might have the same issue with the rivets piercing the stator. Are there any other screws which hold the stator assembly in the housing? My wires need to be replaced and I can't see any other way to do it without separating the stator from the housing. Thanks!
I’m working on restoring a similar BU unit, I have bought wire to replace the wires coming out of the motor. It was crumbling all the way into the insulated motor core, so I don’t have enough lead left to hook my new wire to. Any ideas? I wasn’t sure if it would mess something up if I started unwrapping the insulated core part to get at more wire.
I had the same problem. I just left a tiny bit of wire poking out of the core, and soldered on a piece and shrink tubed the rest of the wire as close to the core as possible. What did you end up doing?
I wish the music was not there, it was distracting I couldn't focus on what you were saying or doing. Music was so unnecessary, I couldn't appreciate what I thought was a really good informative video.
Not sure if you remember 8 years later.....😅🤣😂 but do you know which order all those washers went ? I had my 2 halves separate and there were washers all over the place....
If you ever find the answer to this, PLEASE share because I ALSO separated mine after struggling with the rivets and... the washers did not stay put. I put it back together but I'm not convinced I did it correctly. It's my first necchi and it didn't work when I started so I'm at a loss for whether or not it sounds as it should. Who would've thought the washers would be such an issue! I've been searching far and wide for this washer question!!!!!
@carlydwyer493 ..IF you're brushes freely move back and forth along the canal where the springs push them against the shaft.... open each side to make sure that both brushes flow nicely back and forth. My issue is fixed.! AFTER initially putting a generic aftermarket motor and having to mod a bracket to make it work... I talked to a gentleman who was able to help me understand the error of my ways. He takes the entire month of December off. SO... I'll let you know how I fixed mine. As long as you have continuity between the connection at the brush and the top where the wires connect... this is a good thing! And as long as you don't have a broken wire on the spinning portion.... getting back to the view of looking at where the brushes would contact .... when removed..you should see a spot where the brushes made a wear mark. My problem is that I had placed all the washers on the side opposite of the pulley...effectively pushing the spinning apparatus to far away from where the brushes would meet....thus not allowing the voltage to connect and make the thing spin.. as long as you can approximate the distance away you are from where the original mark is on that spinning portion....just swap the washers to adjust where the brushes can connect. I had a happy dance and verbal thanks to Jesus after that happened...so all the ingenuity to make the non factory part work was rendered unneeded. So again...as long as all the electronics is fine with the motor and the brushes are long enough to make contact...all you need is the washers to be placed to kinda "center" the spot where the brushes USE to contact prior to disassembly. Hope this is helpful and easily understood. 😇🙏💪
So I came by a Necchi BU and it was in working, but rough shape. I decided to refurbish it starting with replacing the wires as they were cracking and in really bad shape. I took apart the motor, and the wire was cracking all the way up to the linen type material in the motor, so I removed all the cracking plastic and, soldered on a new wire and put a shrink tube over the exposed bit as close to the linen type material as possible. I tested the motor by plugging it directly into the wall and I'm getting an "electrical" type smell that I don't really remember from before and small cracking sounds coming from the motor. Are these things I should be concerned about, or are they relatively normal?
Just bought one . I don’t know how to clean it. It didn’t come with a pedal nor a cabinet. The music is loud I couldn’t hear most of what you were saying.
I got my BF Nova for $60AUD. Its beautiful and I'm starting the cleaning and maintenance soon. Sadly it didn't come with a table, it's in a portable tabletop box :)
I am almost positive my rivets are going into mine as well. How do you get that off so it will come out. I want to be able to replace those cables too.
Sorry, on vacation last week. I sorta ripped the motor out...wrong way. you really need to drill them out, with the right size drill (slightly larger that the rivet). Then the rivets will just fall out and you can easily remove the motor, If this is the original wiring, the covering is brittle and really does need replacing. 18 gauge lamp wire from Home Depot is perf!
The rivets on my BU nova goes into the stator. Your video probably saved me from percussive maintenance and uncivilized speech. Thanks.
Same here!! Thanks ,so much!!!👍🏼
I appreciate this video, but the music was a little loud and hard to hear you over.
This was right on time ...
but you lost me around 4:42- ish..music drowned you out.
Thx 4 this, sir
I purchased my Necchi at a second hand store. I cleaned it up and it works wonderfully. It's going to have to have the foot pedal rewired.
How do you get the ruvites out of the core of the motor?

Thank you for the video. Do you know the thickest threat the Necchi BU Nova can take?

Compré una maquina de esa marca y ese modelo. Me gustaria una explicación el español. Gracias
Good video. What does the “BF’ or “BU’ mean in the Neechi machines? Thanks.

How did you figure out to fix the light fixture? The machine’s in really great condition! Thanks for showing it.

divyajnana i ended up doing it similar to you but delicately enough to put the plate back on with light tapping
I wish you would not run music. It is difficult to hear what you are saying
That was not good stitch quality, It was bad stitch quality. Although that machine has the capability. It is a beautiful machine.
i just dugout that exact model out of my basement after 30 years. much worst shape. :-( oh well I'll have to try to get it going. its pretty frozen.
Berryman B-12 Chemtool is great for un-stucking due to oil drying.
The music is annoying and makes it hard to listen to the person.
Great visual, horrible music
