It worked. No more parasitic draw. Truck starts up in the cold everytime. No random chime with door open. You rock brotha! Thank you for the quality content!
Thank you for making this video ! I probably wouldn’t have done it if I didn’t see a how to and would of end up paying hundreds to get it replaced. Someone tried to take my truck and drilled the whole key slot open . Thank God I had a anti theft immobilizer . They didn’t take it .
same with me but they mangled my door lock cylinder and ripped apart my steering column plastics. little did they know my rear slide window cant lock because the latch is broken. thankfully they didnt take it because from what ive read my year is a pain to hotwire
Thanks for the video. I have the same problem. The battery was always drained and I have to charge it whenever I need to drive. You saved me lots of money.
We are having this same exact issue with our truck! Thank you for your video, I will get right on this, tired of having to charge the battery every other day!
Excellent! I have the Dorman piece in front of me now. I saw the "learning" cylinders available but bypassed them because l figured they were sone kind of diagnostic gizmo... that's what happens when you think you know everything. I figured I'd just have another key to deal with forever. I'll be getting the learning cylinder instead... way better. Thanks.
what if you have a chipped key? i cant find anything about that. my 05 has a grey key but ive seen other 05s have black which is no chip. im wandering if someone cut a chipped key for my truck but it dont need it? you never know buying used. how do you know if it needs a chipped key other than the key itself. i dont see any security light on dash etc to say it is.
This device will work the same for the transponder keys as well. One way you can know for sure would be to check the column for an immobilizer. The other method would be to have a cheap non chipped key cut and see if the truck will start. I appreciate the feedback.
My key is pretty worn. I was thinking maybe I could just go to a dealer or lock smith with my VIN number and get a new key and then use this product. Am I correct? The dealer want over $500.00 for key, then program it, and put in a new ignition switch plus labor. A lock smith was not mutch better at $490.00 estimate. Thank you
I would go this route link below . It will come with 2 new keys and new cylinder for the ignition and door . Now having said that I am assumimg yours is black and not the chipped gray. However if you have the gray this seller can provide that also , but that will need programmed by the locksmith. They should not charge much , also as long old chipped key is on key ring it may work also. This link is just a suggestion there are many options. Anyways hope this helps. ebay.us/4u6OZ5
Good day, please sir I'm an automobile locksmith, i have this type of vehicle but i lost the key, please will there be any issues if i reset the ignition cylinder with another key?
If it does not have the immbolizer key , it will be no problem at all , besides needing the door lock changed as well. If it has the immobilizer , it would need programmed with a good scan tool. Thank you for the feedback.
Just tried doing mine my original key wouldn’t shut the truck all the way off. So I bought a new ignition to replace and put it in but once it was in it wouldn’t release the key any tips?
I would try and start the twist procedure over. Then if no luck just try turning any which way until it releases. , if it does not work , simply send it back for another replacement . Hope this helps.
I’m curious how did you get the cylinder to go to the restroom way in because I’m moving mind around it won’t go thanks in advance nice video by the way
So my key wont turn cant push button to release the cylinder. Any ideas....? I have chrysler aspen not that it matters but my key will not turn at all.... Completely lost on how to fix this thing without the key turning....grrrr
I did a heater core on my 02 4.7 , reinstalled everything, replaced air bag , ignition switch , had scanner hooked to truck , said lost communication between key and abs module , everything is brand new including clock spring, any ideas why air bag light is still on ?
That is puzzling. If everything is connected and good , it could be the abs light needs erased or reset. Wish I could be more help, Thanks for watching.
Just order it. Thank you so much. My problem is that the ignition will not turn. I tried my key that isn't as worn out but same issue. I'll let ya know how I make out.,
No , that is the great thing about this part you get to use your existing key. The key cylinder is replaced , the immobilizer if equiped with yours will not be replaced . So in short your transponder key will work just as before. Great question and thank you for watching.
If the key still works the door lock fine , then I would replace the ignition cylinder. I have remove tumblers from them to get me by until I replaced them before. This usually allows it to turn easily. Thanks for the feedback.

You will have to drill it out. Watch a few videos on the process before trying it. Thanks for the feedback.

My lock cylinder stuck and i can't get it to rotate, any advice
Try bumping and tapping it while turning. If that all fails it will have to be carefully drilled out. Hope this helps
