- Henry Kissinger, who served as secretary of state under Presidents Nixon and Ford, passed away at age 100. Kissinger was seen as one of the leading international relations intellectuals of the 20th century, but was also criticized for the central role he played in expanding U.S. military involvement in Vietnam and the widescale bombing of Cambodia.

Just about everything *Henry Kissinger* has touched has turned out to be a mess. I don't blame Kissinger for the problems of the world, but he certainly shouldn't get credit for creating any lasting peace. His foreign policy approach has never been about doing what is right and ethically correct. Instead Kissinger has always been fundamentally about game playing strategy and trying to anticipate the response of our enemies and of the enemies of our enemies. Kissinger is a short-term strategist not a true leader.
America is at its best when we do what's right and stand up for freedom and democracy regardless of our immediate self interests.
Most recently, Kissinger was wrong to suggest that Ukraine should surrender its sovereign territory to Russia in exchange for peace. If Putin's act of blatant aggression isn't decisively defeated, the world will pay a heavy price for generations.

So Kissinger died quietly at his home. I always thought he would have wanted to go out in a high-altitude bombing run by a combined Cambodian, Bengali, Angolan and Argentinian bomber squadron taking him out and the 100,000 or so people around him.

He is considered one of the best secretaries of state cause he opened up relations with China and Japan and ended the Vietnam War, but also one of the worst cause he ordered the bombing of Cambodia which led to the rise of Pol Pot, supported regime change in Chile, Argentina, and…..some other country in Central America?
Pol Pot also rose because of China.. US under Kissinger's cooperation with China = China could freely doing whatever it wanted including making Cambodia as its puppet state through Khmer Rouge/Pol Pot.

Kissinger was not a humanitarian. He was someone who was trying to obtain and maintain a balance of power between nations and governments. That was his approach to diplomacy. And it gave a whole new meaning to “realpolitik”.

The "controversial" bit might be this: The man got a Nobel *Peace* Prize after being an accomplice to Nixon's war crimes in Vietnam and Cambodia. Trump was also under consideration for the Nobel Peace Prize at one point, while Obama admitted he didn't do anything to deserve a peace award when he received his Nobel Peace Prize. He claimed that his administration was not behind the installation of the Pinochet dictatorship, which turned out to be hot air. He would *do these things again,* according to the man himself!
