- Satyam Shivam Sundaram is a 1978 Indian Hindi romance film starring Shashi Kapoor and Zeenat Aman, directed by Raj Kapoor. The story is about As Pandit Shyam Sunder prayed in Bhagwan Shivji's temple on the occasion of Janamashtami, his wife gives birth to a daughter, Rupa, and passes away, leaving her child to bear the brunt of being an ill-omen.
The film's original soundtrack was composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal. It is a social drama about the differences between physical and spiritual love. Satyam Shivam Sundaram was released on 24 March 1978 on the day of Holi. The film was dedicated to the iconic playback singer Mukesh, who was the voice of Raj Kapoor in many films. He died two years before the film's release and his last recorded song was part of this movie.

The reason why the film was not a hit because the 2nd half was bizarre. We are to believe that he married Roopa without seeing her whole face. Then went to go see her somewhere after marriage though he was married. Hard to digest that. But still a great film. Zeenat Aman should’ve won some awards for this film too 😅
