      You need to add in the corner of the screen the number of NPCs walking so that you don't miss a couple of them because they just decided to stop
      You can do toggle button to (Stop/Follow) so you actually can stop team in safe area.
      Its kinda cursed to see that Gordon actually save people. Back in the day i thinked about that too but, because game didn't built to rescue people. I feeled sad.
      - *Fun Fact*: In Black Mesa you can rescue the scientists from the dining room to the broken elevator, where the scientist sits on a chair and Barney says he'll keep an eye on him because he can't jump to the stairs.

      To move the whole team to the elevator they will jump (with goofy ass animation). On the stairs after they will carefully sneak to another staircase. And also climb up to the elevator. We can help the hanging scientist if we interact with him, he will then climb the stairs. The whole team can be left at the beginning of the chapter, I do not think that Barney who was grabbed by a zombie can be saved. Unless you prematurely kill the zombie from the vent. Barney won't be able to open the gate. CPR Guy will be able to revive all the lying people on the level.

    Ok TeamClown, I've been thinking about how to save the scientist hanging from the elevator. Here's the best solution. If you recall, he says "I can't hold on much longer". So this would naturally be a timed puzzle. If you can quickly reach the closest area to the scientist, he would then be savable. He could hop off the ladder or continue to climb up the ladder; and play the c1a3_sci_rescued audio ("Rescued at last! Thank God you're here!"). The implication would be that you boost him up or something.

      ​@@teamclown755also why not have a room in the vending machine area at the end of Office Complex where the zombie would fall off, with rooms similar to the early versions of Office Complex. Basically a way of saving the security guard at the start of We've Got Hostiles.
      I had this idea after watching Freeman's Mind episode 10.

    I love the guy that gave CPR at the beginning being able to save the guy at the level transition. That's just great game design right there. You don't get told about it, but if you're good enough to bring the right guy, you can save more people. It gives a whole other twist to Half Life gameplay.

      Sven Coop has a medkit for revives, but it has to recharge and there's no option to prevent ally bodies from despawning if they don't revived fast enough

    just having the scientists and barneys levitate and teleport through obstacles was one thing, but giving them whole animations for each individual section is crazy! incredibly hyped!

    You should add in a way to heal the NPCs, in case anyone gets badly injured in all the combat sections. Opposing Force had the HECU Medic, perhaps the scientists could fill that role while the barneys fight?

    1:38 Wow! This is amazing. This mod has shot up to the top of the ones I'm most interested in and impressed by.
    I think if I were to try to save the elevator guy, I would try to obstruct the elevator shaft somewhat and give him a less lethal fall, doctor Van Buren's office (11:20) has a metal table, if we could move it and get it past the office's door, maybe we could partially shove it into the door to the elevator shaft (with some half-life jank), even using it as a partial bridge ourselves, and then when the scientist falls, he falls on top of it and the other folks can take care of him.

      What about an ending where if you defeat the final boss with surviving scientists, gman says that all surviving witnesses have been taken to custody, and gman congratulates you for your ability to keep people alive as much as you did.

    A Squad Count HUD element similar to the HL2 one could be useful here, except it could count scientists and Barneys separately. Love the idea of this mod!
    Squad Command mechanics from HL2 would also be really useful, commanding the Barneys and Scientists separately would be a godsend.
    Also.. How do you plan on addressing the bridge between Apprehension and the rest of the game?

    Make it so you can press the use key to pull that hanging scientist up the ladder, then make that elevator able to go down once you get onto it, and carry the rest of the crew to We Got Hostiles.
    In We Got Hostiles, you can cheat a bit and just leave them there...since that level is a giant loop anyway, you will be back to move them on (alternatively, make the "We're doomed" scientist able to open the security door and just skip the entire level).

    You could streamline the process of making this mod by making the ladder climbing animations looping animations with starts and ends so you wouldn't have to make a new animation for each ladder, I know source can do this because TF2 has looping taunts with start and stop animations
    Also, something people were able to wrangle goldsrc into doing was giving the scientists guns, so I imagine doing the same on source would be possible too, as well as a nice bonus
    Though, i'd suggest turning friendly fire between friendly npcs off if you do that
    Oh, and make it so you don't collide with friendly npcs either, that seems to be an issue already
    Give CPR guy an arm band with a red cross on it so we can tell him apart from the dozens of other scientists with his face
    And as for the guy at the end, speed, have his dangling be on a timer that starts once you reach the elevator shaft

    Some suggestion:
    - Having a button to set/call all scientists, and a button to set/call all barneys, so you don't have to E them one by one (edit: someone seems to have commented this).
    - Make scientist and barney able to pick up and use weapon, same as the rebels in HL2. It will take time animate them using weapon though (edit: someone seems to have commented this as well).
    - Make the barney in the silo door security room saveable if other barneys are present. For example, the other barneys point out the zombie behind him, he turn back and can kill this zombie.
    Also I'm having a feeling that the CPR scientist will get the unofficial official name "The CPR Scientist" from this mod :)

      There is only one problem about last suggestion, it will make logical problem of barney not wanting to press silo door button, otherwise entire chapter is featurely skippable. Maybe zombie will drag barney into ventilation and after that you can find his dead body in said ventilation, and you gonna need scientist to do CPR again.

    Perhaps Gordon could have a medkit similar to Sven Co-Op, that allows him to provide first aid to NPCs as well as revive them if they’re killed?
    Maybe it even gives him a single HP per heal to encourage players to protect BM personnel.

    3:29 - I really hope they all breaststroked through the water like the artistic swimmers they are. Black Mesa has a swimming pool, after all.
    But seriously, if you animate every sequence yourself, besides the pain, that offers potential for so many amusing animations. The nature of HL1 is such that even the sight of levitating scientists is friggin' hilarious.
    Also (and it's easy for me to give advice), since you restored that Eli phrase, have you considered fixing the banter mechanic between the friendly NPCs in HL:Source? They used to ask each other questions and give answers, but the feature appears to be broken, amongst other things, in HL:S. Since it has been restored for GMod, for all I know, it is possible for Source, too.
    Looking forward to playing the mod with great anticipation!

    Saving people in the Office Complex chapter was my favorite thing to do (especially in HL:Source version which allows you having more than 2 people following you around at the same time). Will you release this mod?

    I love how creative you were with saving the injured security guard having the cpr scientist save him is super clever and to save the scientist that gets killed by the trip mine at the silo doors you should have a previous security guard tackle him so he stops running

    Probably the easiest solution for the ladder hanging scientist is to put an entity in the shaft that's a big sheet of metal left there by a maintenance team, or something to that effect. Once the player interacts with it, it tips over and blocks the shaft, allowing the scientist to drop down onto it safely (ignoring the exploding kneecaps maybe).

    I take it that you won't be able to just bring every single NPC to the end, given certain barriers in the game, and the huge number of people you will come across through out will wreak havoc for sure. Are there meant to be checkpoints you can drop them off at? Like maybe the first time the player reaches the surface in "We've Got Hostiles", a helicopter lifts them off to safety or something. Since the HECU are hostile, I imagine you're gonna have to hijack one.

      Might be full of oversights and there won't be a proper conclusion to that squad of survivors at all but I like to imagine that they eventually end up banding together and figuring out what to do then, they're a large group of survivors and maybe they'll pick up a few guns on the way for the scientists

    Allow gordon to jump and grab the scientist when they fall and they climb onto your shoulders until after you get to a safe place

    Maybe make it so they can sometimes have accidents climbing ladders and doing parkour since they are old people after all (like maybe one misses the jump to the next crate and has to be pulled up somehow)

      i think that would be a not very good idea because you'd then need to rely on RNG to save all Black Mesa Personnel, but still a pretty nice idea nonetheless

    save the elevator scientist, with a human ladder! you need enough dudes, but say, a dozen or so keeping hold of several others, can 'throw' a guy out there with enough support to grab him and pull him back!... Makin me think of silly cartoonish ways the sceintists can do things with enough bodies XD

    About them jumping across and climbing the elevator shaft's ledge: It's funny because I've been replaying the game and thinking about this problem recently and at the same time you've been developing this mod.
    - The first and most obvious solution would be to have them imitate the same movements that Gordon does. Jumping over the elevator chasm and grabbing onto the ledge, to then crawl and enter the elevator's vent opening.
    - Another solution would be having them to pull a Lara Croft: shimmying over the walls and edges whilst trying to grab onto the nearest ladder, one floor at a time, until they could then jump they way onto the elevator at the top.
    → But my favorite solution, would be, to have the player be more involved in their rescuing, and have it so that Gordon would need to climb all the way to the top to then release a ladder for them, or better yet, a rope! Another possibility would involve Gordon fixing the elevator and going back to rescue everybody. Or even have it so that rescuing the scientist that's about to fall makes it so that that scientist fixes the elevator for us somehow.
    Bonus: How about making it so that all scientists know CPR? Or making it so that at least a couple more of them know CPR, giving space for the player to fail a bit more. Perhaps also invent some visual way of distinguishing the ones that know CPR from the ones that don't.

      Well, in old times this could be done by cutting pieces of dialog and stiching them together but these days we have artificial intelligence. That could be used to train AI with the voices and generate completely new lines of dialog. D_D

    Just realized something - how about leading a scientist or a security guard to open the door to the headcrab room? That way if you're fast enough, right after the scientist kills the first headcrab, you could kill the second headcrab, thus saving another scientist.
    Anyone else suggested this one yet?

    I do wanna see this finalized, neat concept, something I always tried doing as a kid playing half-life 1. Barney's need to be able to shoot through friendlies, a key to mass-command-follow or mass-command-stop everyone in your party or who was recently in your party, a means to indicate who is injured and a way to heal them or command scientist followers to keep the party healthy.
    Dang, imagine showing up to Nihilanth's chamber with a small army of middle-aged lab-coat-wearing professionals from various fields of science and medicine each accompanied by at least 1 or more personal security guards.
    You'd almost certainly need special npc ai orders for the npcs to take cover at whatever worldbrush the player's reticle was pointing at.
    I hope they chat with each other. Big group conversations sound funny once you get like 20+ people lol
    Edit: Also, rescue the hanging scientist in the elevato barrel-of-monkeys style, have all 20 of your people chain hands together and make a goofy people-bridge that he lands on. It'd be crazy animation effort but the gag would be so worth it and it'd surprise the player so much lol. I could see vinny playing this, just to try and save everybody, and then the horde of scientists do a goofy coordinated stunt like a colony of ants just to add one to the group, lololol.

    Let me guess: the headcrab survived being used as a wall. No way to tell after the explosion went off, but I'd say it's a safe bet. Gotta love Source logic.

    I'm watching it over again and I'm thinking -- the lack of many scientist models in the og Half-Life is really brought to attention in this mod. It also makes it difficult to recognize CPR Guy. Would it be possible to make it so scientists could spawn and get randomized with something like another color of pants, or without their labcoat? Even just adding those two with the existing faces should add a good bit of variety.

    As someone who made jumping, falling, climbing, etc work for their own Source Engine mod, I must say, bravo for the great idea and implementation. Making the animations work smoothly is a pain in the ass.
