Bummer he didn’t film anything. That actually the reason I started posting in YT, so I could watch them years later and not have to worry about losing the videos on a hard drive.
Did you have a word with your boss about that big tree that was hollow that you said could of been a bear den .I know a clear cut means all of it here in the UK but we do leave hardwoods standing
Ya we left it standing. I made a bit of a mistake too, I should’ve left a buffer of trees around it. Anything that has a potential for a bear den we’ll leave standing, same with large bird nests

I'm curious how often you have to sharpen your chain, or does someone sharpen it for you? Round or square? Full house or skip? How long before a new chain or dressing the bar? That saw works really hard, but efficient.
I file my own chain. It’s round file, chain is 3/8 skip tooth 0.63. I’ll file 2-3 times a day on average, depends of I hit dirt/rocks. 3weeks on a chain if I don’t rock out. Bars I’m not sure, probably 3weeks before it needs a grind. I don’t really keep track of that stuff

Bjorne you are a true woodsman of the highest caliber! Thanks for these incredible videos.
Love the videos. My great uncle Darrach was a lumberjack till he was an old man in BC. No videos of him so I get to see his life through these.

Great man Bjarne
Beautiful gods country im envious young man
Bjarne do you use a square cut chain ?
Wow man great stuff.
The way it looks from watching the video, you were fine with the aim. It just brushed by that cedar. Gravity pulled it that way.
Ya I should’ve accounted for that more

Just curious, when you buck a tree, why do you measure the diameter in inches and the length in meters? Love your work, as always.
Ya it’s a bit goofy that way but that just how its setup on the weight card 🤷♂️
I'd love it if you had a drone. I imagine you could keep it geostationary and let it give you a unique angle as it fell
Helicopters and drones don't mix. I don't know if you understand just how dangerous it is with what there doing with these helicopters
@@toucanvanbeak I fully understand thanks buddy. Never seen a helicopter at 20' when guys are cutting

It's great that you work in the logging industry too and have a ton of experience. I haven't learned anything logging in 15 years in idaho
@ Not to worry - in another 15 years you'll get there
hi great show , do you carry any protection when you are out in the woods ??
Nope just my wits

He has a whole video on sharpening if you go back thru.

Did you give up on your belt hook for the axe?
For my big axes I have, I’ll just throw them to the next tree. My small axes have the loops welded on still

That was a big old fir. Would have loved to be there to hear it hit. Had to be 150' tall or so, wasn't it?
Not sure it was that tall but it was pretty big
@BjarneButler Well, it looked a long way over to that cedar.
Leave the double top for animals😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Wonder if many mistakes are made with a chart mixing inches and meters...?
I don’t think so, the tapes they use have metric one side and imperial other side
@@mke6445davis My point exactly. Would be easy to use the wrong side?
@ I think they got it figured out
