Had this problem on the Brother HL-L8360CDW, it was in the very back of the drum unit, Broken cable. It was completely missing. Thanks for the very helpful video!! Wouldn't have known to look without seeing this

Great video, also recommend sliding that green slider back and forth a few times to see if it corrects the issue. Worked for me.

Just watched the video as I have the same issue. In the video you said that if the green slider is in the wrong place it will cause the error.
When you remove the magenta drum and toner, the green slider is over the the right instead of the left. That would cause the error in this case?

@@ianjames1275 congratulations you will make a very good printer technician as you have an eye for detail. In order to make a video about a particular common problem you need to simulate the problem when all you have at hand is perfectly working printers.

Terry I have the same error on a Brother MFC-L8610CDW. Tried swapping out the drum unit but it still gives the same error. Any additional troubleshooting steps? Thanks for your videos, they are awesome!

You are more than likely using poor quality non genuine toner vs good quality non genuine or genuine toner. One of the toners will be shorting to earth or grid. Try swapping the toners out for new or empty toners to see if error clears. If the error still doesn't clear you need a new high voltage board.

@@TerryJonesPrinterRepairs Thanks for the quick response! You are correct we did end up with batch of poor quality toner. I did try a drum and set of toners that was working in another printer of the same make and model in the one with the error and got the same message so I'll try swapping the high voltage board. In another post they said any time you swap the high voltage board you should also swap the main assembly board or you'll likely burn up the new high voltage board...Have you found this to be necessary or not so much?

@@codyoakes I would like to see this post, for entertainment purposes. The only thing that blows a HV board is 1. Bad compatible toners, 2.A broken corona charge wire shorting to the grid or ground 3. Extremely high air Humidity made worse with high air temps, 4. the area the printer lives being infested with mould. (the fans suck mouldy air and spores into the printer the mould grows over the HV board a high humidity day occurs causing the mould to have a growth spurt, 1KV across growing mould = bang blown board). Swap the board but leave the covers off, if it works clean the inside of the plastic covers with some mould treatment product.
