Colonialism is a subset of Imperialism. In Colonialism, there is a mass shift of people from dominating country to the subjugated country while it is not necessarily so in case of Imperialism. In Colonialism, the socio-cultural pattern is altered by the mother country while In Imperialism, the native people are usually allowed to retain their way of life
Sir colonialism entails imperialism but imperialism doesn't necessarily entail colonialism. Today we have imperialism at the behest of WTO, IMF and World Bank that restructure the economies of developing and underdeveloped world on neoliberal lines but no foreign country is bringing any of these countries under their direct political control by conquering that weak country by force. Central to C and I is exploitation and control of the subordinated economy by the powerful country but in colonialism there is direct political rule of the latter on the former in the sense that the latter necessarily entends/ imposes it's territorial sovereignty on the latter
Sir Thank you very much, please cover important topics of History is similar way. Thank you sir. Looking forward for more such videos. Thank you very much once again.
Hello sir, Colonialism:- can we say that it means when any country goes to in another country and settled for the trade and earn lots of profit. While Imperialism:- when a powerful country capture another country and control for expand their country.
Thank you sir. So if I got this straight, colonialism requires settlement by the occupiers while Imperialism can be more hands off and controlled through political or economic mechanisms. Did I get it right? And both are for the benefit of the motherland?
What do you mean with: "India was discovered by Vasco de Gama."? India and Europe had been trading both directly and indirectly for millennia, hadn't they?
Sir meant that Vasco de Gama discovered sea route to India. Because before that trade was happening along the Silk-route,which was interrupted by Ottoman Turks after the fall of Constantinople in 1453 A.D
Hi Manglesh, I hope you are doing well. You can subscribe to our TH-cam channel "@DrishtiIASEnglish" and there you can find all the relevant videos and lectures.
Example of colonialism can be seen in Pakistan as from recent news and vdoes that chinese are more privileged than pakistanis. They beat Pakistanis, shows thier power over pakistanis but no strict step are taken against them by pak govt. If I'm wrong please correct me
I think you are wrong. Bcz Pak in not under chinese rule its just chinese debt on pak. Yes but if these continued to increase it could lead to pak being a colony of china but its been too long to reach that extent. Its almost 15-20 years depending upon what amount of loans pak take from china
