Right? The only part we get to see any thing not directly head boi related is him with clearwater in the halls 😭 even that is still kinda prefect related cuz she was one too. Wouldve loved to see their relationship in the movies
You can still see it happen in the background. He's with the ministry but then fights for his family again at the end. It's just way too subtle and easily missable.
His most Iconic moment was when he shouted, "Rookwood!" After fred was killed by the explosion caused by Augustus Rookwood..... The scene isn't in the movies.... 😔
Percy is so misunderstood, he felt like the black sheep in his family from the fact that he wanted to focus on his career and not cause troubles and he was teased for it by his family, he is like a Hermione that didn't have the chance of having friends, he thought that his family was making a mistake and he turned his back on them, that was very wrong yes but he still felt bad and came back and fought with them his family! I'm pretty sure that he also feel pretty awful for his brother's death
i have a headcanon that from gof to dh he was under the imperious curse. it makes so much sense. some death eater at the ministry put him under it causing him to side with the ministry and then sometime around the deathly hallows his ‘master’ was killed. because percy was just a boy who enjoyed his job. he just wanted to do what he loved but was never really accepted by his family. the super carlin brothers have a video about the imperious curse theory if you want to learn more. in conclusion percy is a misunderstood baby who shouldn’t get the hate he gets for doing what he loves
@@rosyellis14 Honestly, I don't think that that theory is true. He was not accepted and kind of bullied by his siblings and colleagues even before GoF.
I never realised Percy was in Prisoner of Azkaban, for a prefect he sure became quiet and lost in the crowd more when the previous two years he had more voice and presence amongst everyone.
13:25 lmao the expression on percy's face is so funny to me but i kinda wish they showed more of percy's "betrayal" and redemption in the movies. in the movies they never rlly explain how he fell out with his family, he just shows up with fudge a couple times in ootp and is basically never mentioned or anything and then suddenly turns up again to join his family in the battle in deathly hallows part 2. it's never shown why he left or why he came back, and none of the characters acknowledge that he's suddenly back after being mostly absent from the later films, it's just sort of like "oh he's there btw."
Percy Books 5-7: Conflicting beliefs with his family, disowns them but still cuts ties out of shame for being wrong. Later rejoins Percy Movies 5-7: Literally a background character
yep, the irony being that it's the only books where he's significant to the story, yet he doesn't say a word, meanwhile he's got completely unnecessary scenes in all the other movies pretty much, and dialogue in most of them. He's perfect for solidifying the ministry arc, what a waste.
This video is another proof that you can't make the same quality story in a 2, 3 or even a 5 hours long movie, as in a book. Percy's real character and its progress is totally missing from the movies.
There was a short moment when Harry confronts Snape that would’ve shown Percy entering and Fred and George looking at each other with smirks on their faces. I think it was cut because it wasn’t that necessary and they wanted to keep the focus on Harry and Snape.
More is explained in the books. Knowing that there will be a Harry potter Reboot Series I hope they explore more of Percy weasley's story over the course of the story. Percy weasley is a very hated character, but I think otherwise he seems to me a very undervalued character, since his course through the saga is well done and at the same time leaves a message that Ambition and Blindness for success and at the same time time leaves another great message that "Everyone can fail you in this world, but family will always be there for you".
Vernon Dursley: Alright, Percy. Here are the movies you appeared in. Percy Weasley: How many are there? Vernon Dursley: 6! Counted them myself, but you’ve made a cameo in the deathly hallows part 1 movie of course. Percy Weasley: 6 and a Cameo?! BUT IN THE BOOKS I WAS IN ALL 7!!
Both, Percy and Wood so ambitious and same age but looking not really close... Both is Leader Student and Quiditch Captain...maybe if Harry Ron in 7th year Hoghwart school both would be like Percy Oliver...
I hate that they cut out Percy’s storyline from the movies, at least verbally since in the background you can see it playing out. It wouldn’t even be difficult to implement a couple lines of Ron talking about Percy and Arthur’s fight or Percy’s love for the minister
Must be cool to go to hogwarts he sorted and have dinner with your olde brother then have him take you and all the house students to your new common room. Percy was a legend.
I've heard in videos that he had a falling out with the other Weasleys, and didn't believe Harry about Voldemorts return. He did reconcile with his family during the Deathly Hallows before fighting the deatheaters. I read part of the book, he seemed very sad and a little guilt stricken when Fred died. I really need to read the books more.
Okay! I need a good vent... Percy's story is one of the most heartbreaking, and when you dig into the details, it’s hard not to feel for him. He’s often seen as the ambitious brother who put his career before his family, but there’s so much more to why his story is so tragic-and why he deserves more empathy. Growing up as one of seven kids in the Weasley family wasn’t easy for Percy. His older brothers, Bill and Charlie, were already off doing amazing things-Bill was a successful curse-breaker and Charlie was working with dragons. Then there were Fred and George, who were always the life of the party, and Ron, who was Harry Potter’s best friend. Percy, the serious one, felt this intense pressure to stand out in his own way. He worked incredibly hard, always following the rules, becoming a Prefect and later Head Boy, thinking these achievements would finally make his parents proud. But instead of bringing him closer to his family, his ambition started to create distance. There’s a strong case to be made that Percy was more of a Slytherin than a Gryffindor. He had that ambition, that drive to succeed, and a desire to be recognised, which are classic Slytherin traits. But knowing how much his family valued being in Gryffindor, Percy likely asked the Sorting Hat to place him there, just to meet their expectations. This internal conflict-between his true nature and what he thought he should be-added a lot of pressure that only grew over time. When Percy landed his job at the Ministry of Magic, it felt like the validation he’d been searching for. He was finally out of his brothers’ shadows, working directly under Bartemius Crouch Sr., someone he admired. But even in this role, there were signs of how little he was actually valued. His boss, who was supposed to be mentoring him, couldn’t even remember his name, calling him "Weatherby" instead. But Percy, ever the loyal employee, brushed it off and continued to believe that the Ministry was his ticket to making something of himself. He was so committed to the idea of authority and order that he couldn’t see the growing corruption within the Ministry, or accept that his family’s concerns might be valid. This loyalty to the Ministry came at a huge cost. When the Ministry started opposing Harry and Dumbledore, Percy chose the institution over his family, leading to a painful estrangement. He even sent back his Christmas jumper, a simple but devastating act that symbolised his rejection of his family. Percy’s ambition, which was supposed to make him proud, ended up isolating him from the people who loved him most. And as the Ministry fell further under Voldemort’s influence, Percy found himself in an increasingly dark and lonely place, surrounded by people who didn’t care about him as a person. It’s heartbreaking to think about how alone he must have felt, trapped by his own decisions. The saddest moment in Percy’s story comes during the Battle of Hogwarts. After years of estrangement, he finally realises he was wrong and returns to his family, begging for forgiveness. It’s a powerful moment because it shows just how much regret and guilt he’s been carrying. But this reconciliation is bittersweet-just as Percy is starting to reconnect with his family, Fred is killed in an explosion. Percy’s devastation is palpable as he cradles Fred’s body, realising that he lost all that time he could have spent with his brother. It’s a crushing moment, full of the pain of missed opportunities and the harsh reality of what his choices have cost him. After the war, Percy has to live with the burden of his past mistakes. His family may forgive him, but the guilt of what he did, and the time he lost, will likely haunt him forever. He’ll always remember that he wasn’t there when his family needed him most, and that Fred’s death happened just as he was trying to make things right. This regret is a heavy burden, and it’s one that Percy will carry for the rest of his life. What makes Percy’s story even sadder is how misunderstood he often is. To many, he comes across as pompous and overly serious, but underneath that exterior is someone who just wanted to prove himself. He wasn’t trying to hurt anyone; he was trying to be successful in a way that would make his family proud. But his ambition, combined with his need to be seen as successful, led him down a path that isolated him from the people who loved him. Percy’s need for recognition is something we can all relate to, and it makes his story all the more tragic when we see where that need led him. In the end, Percy Weasley’s story is about a good person who made bad decisions, driven by ambition and a desire to fit into his family’s expectations. He might have been more of a Slytherin at heart, but he chose Gryffindor because he thought that’s what his family wanted. His journey is a cautionary tale about the dangers of losing sight of what really matters, and the devastating consequences that can follow. Percy’s story is one of the saddest because it’s so deeply human-about the pain of regret, the loss of time, and the difficult path to redemption. Okay! Phew that took me way too long to write and I did not mean for it to be that long, but, yeah... Love for Percy!
