The guitar intro tells a story. I remember the first time I heard it and said, "He's playing a story." This song helped get me through the toughest time I've gone through yet in my life. To David wherever you may be, thank you. I didn't die when we all thought I was. And I was close.
this song is so important to my wife & I. we always say its "our" song because it really hits us as good music should & tells our story. my sweetie almost died in 2020 & spent 32 days in intensive care /12 days on a ventilator I was lost. she's fine now! thank you Mr Gilmore for this & all your wonderful work ! Barbara & Pat
No matter what... this band will ALWAYS be my favorite... since I was 5 (1968) they have been a part of my life one way or another. Thru the good times and bad...
I like pulse he attacks the solos in that concert with angst road worn and they were fresh back then he's got this song down to a fine art lots of space on this version
David... thank you for giving us such thrills... The talent and the magic you've been giften from the Gods would never be replaced from anybody else on Eart Every time I play back this version, I can't help crying... This is just THE master piece of all time from you guys... I remember being a kid and ask my dad : what are those strange pink animals on the cover of this LP dad....? And the answer was: don't know son..... In my heart 'till the end....
He wrote it. His guitar sings it and so does he with all the beauty and majesty that compromises David Gilmour. My favorite musician for almost 40 years. He takes his listeners to his heart. I love this man.
In 2021, in amongst all this pandemic shit, this still lifts your spirits, and takes you away from the pains of today. Thanks to whoever uploaded this .
David Gilmore is the main reason i picked up the guitar , if i ever get the chance to meet him i will firmly shake his hand and say "thank you" for inspiring me .
Thanks to my father, Pink Floyd was a huge foundation in developing my taste in music. Really glad I grew up listening to this instead of the other kids my age growing up on commercial pop garbage in the 90's. This song doesn't get enough credit. Such a great and well written tune.
I am happy to be born at the right time when Pink Floyd started. Several times I saw them live in concert. It was always great and very special. Gilmour found his beautiful own sound.
Eu estava apaixonado por uma jovem. Tinha 19 anos.
cannot believe with all the music buffs in the world that this video has only 45K views, when not only is this the best guitarist EVER, and it is the 50th anniversary of the Fender. I love David Gilmour. And his voice in this song is so intense and passionate, pure sexiness...
I am so with you, there! Beautiful song and this was really the first time I listened to any of David's work recorded after Rick's passing. Happy and sad all that the same time!
Great Stuff !! Take me back just one more time, to a place where feelings are deeper than this monitory world can understand, Just what i needed to hear at 3am this Saturday morning, where did all those years go, beautiful moments. Thanks for passing through in our time! Long live David Gilmorre !
Absoluely one of the greatest musican in modern music; and a great band too, also in this occasion with Mr Pino Palladino on bass, Mr Phil Palmer on red Strat, Mr Phil Manzanera on the 3rd Strat and the wonderful Mr Wickens on the keys
I will not miss his next gig. I missed them in Germany in 89. I missed them again in 94 in N. Carolina. If there is ever a reunion, no matter where, I will be there.
With my little baby... With so many worries... About fifty... Listen again... I'm sorry that time has passed... But whenever I hear it, it reminds me of my difficult past.
I think those kind of songs that Pink Floyd and David Gilmour composed can just be understand by those who really "live"...those who really understand life.
from Wikipedia: Gilmour is the owner of Strat #0001. However, this is not the first Stratocaster ever made, but the first to be given a serial number. It was last seen at the Strat Pack Concert in Wembley Arena in 2004.
Soon 2012 starts,,, I may hope this is the year that the World and all it´s people are Coming back to Life.... "Happy New Year" to all Pink Floyd fans....
Just to settle some of the arguments here: ....He is the owner of Strat #0001, which was manufactured in 1954 (definitely a bonofide antique!) but was NOT the first Stratocaster made since Fender does not use sequential serial numbers. Also, the original neck from this guitar now rests comfortably on the "black strat". Just thought I would try to clear some of that up---just for fun :) peace
@richaxes One's things for sure, my friend....this man has made less mistakes in his entire career than any of the guitarists one 3rd of his age do on the average week. Watching him play for me, as a guitarist myself and a huge fan of his work, is like seeing the face of God. :)
Oh my dear lord...I can't believe this! Thank you, thank you for uploading this mate! I knew he played marooned, but Ididn't know about this one.where did you get them my friend?
My heart broke from him when he missed those notes at 5:32... I can imagine how hard was it for him... he's old enough now that he could just retire anytime, but he's still doing it... respect for the best guitarist and composer in the world.
Dave looked like he was struggling up there, couldn't get the guitar sound right and it threw him, I felt his uncomfortablness at times, bet he was glad when it was over!! Just as well he's one of the all time greats, we can overlook these "human" failings :) Rock on bro
Same here... this song is peaceful !!

This isn’t Pink Floyd. It’s Gilmour and his band
@@TheScooter1963 You're right, yet, the song is from a Pink Floyd album, OP was partially right in the context
Some people just have no taste. This man is truly the God of the guitars
I ask a friend why this guitar style wasn't more popular, its pure rick and roll he couldnt answer
Best version ever... This man is a god and i can't understand 14 dislikes
As for May 29th they are 19 hollow brains.
Just misscliks i think ;-)
27 now. Who cares. People hate on god too..
I like pulse he attacks the solos in that concert with angst road worn and they were fresh back then he's got this song down to a fine art lots of space on this version
Sure. Paul Wix on Keyboards, Pino Paladino on Bass and Manzanera on rythm guitar.

This is heavenly, ethereal, just perfect. What a talent, what a gift, what a beautiful song.
He wrote it. His guitar sings it and so does he with all the beauty and majesty that compromises David Gilmour. My favorite musician for almost 40 years. He takes his listeners to his heart. I love this man.
Love this track, it saw me through a difficult time when all hope seemed to have been abandoned... Gilmour at his best from a superb album.

This man is an unbelievable genius of a musician and guitarist.
My god, who would have EVER thought to put together some wire and wood and electrons and the result would be tears running down my face?

Soon 2012 starts,,, I may hope this is the year that the World and all it´s people are Coming back to Life.... "Happy New Year" to all Pink Floyd fans....
I hope 2013 brings a new Gilmour Record, 7 years is long enough of a wait
Just to settle some of the arguments here:

Can there ever be a more perfect specimen on Earth than Mr David Gilmour?
Reborn, coming back to life = heaven. How can one person put out so much emotion?
Need this artist to be on Pandora radio
Mükemmel yaaaa, çok iyi ... çooook (y) (y) :-) :-)
I think that when the day that God comes to take one of us two in the field, and if this song happens to be playing, he'll wait till the song is over.
@richaxes One's things for sure, my friend....this man has made less mistakes in his entire career than any of the guitarists one 3rd of his age do on the average week.
Watching him play for me, as a guitarist myself and a huge fan of his work, is like seeing the face of God. :)
this is in my top 5 floyd songs awsome!!!
he truly knows what he's singing about!
Gilmore fascinates me with his play
Oh my dear lord...I can't believe this! Thank you, thank you for uploading this mate! I knew he played marooned, but Ididn't know about this one.where did you get them my friend?

Lione™ - I’ll take some soulful notes over today’s quantization and auto tuned music any day. It means it’s real ... and human. Peace ✌️
Batch please.
É a primeira fábricada.... E pertence ao melhor....
The one and only ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Simply amazing....
some very serious soloing from the master
As one to not tear down, I still will give thanks to the one almighty. Respectfully speaking.
i would die a happy man if i could play like mr. gilmour
if God could sing and play the guitar.. or compose music.. i think he would sound like this..
the bass player is the one plays who plays for john mayer in john mayer trio. :D
Prateek Sinha, the bass player is Pino Palladino, who has also played for The Who, after the death of John Entwistle.
Yupp I kno.
Dave looked like he was struggling up there, couldn't get the guitar sound right and it threw him, I felt his uncomfortablness at times, bet he was glad when it was over!! Just as well he's one of the all time greats, we can overlook these "human" failings :) Rock on bro
it looked flawless
There I am! twenty rows from the front - in bliss - can you see me? :))
