However, they have done many live videos, usually sitting on a couch (We Are Young, Evolution of Music, Evolution of Michael Jackson, for example). They also used a couch in I Need Your Love, though that one wasn't live. The moving couch here is symbolic of their journey together (Scott said so).

Mitch (the lead on this song) is a countertenor (a tenor who also has a substantial alto/soprano range) Kirstie (rhymes with "thirsty") is the lone woman in the group, and is a mezzo soprano. Scott (the tall blond guy) is a baritone. Avi (the guy with the dark beard) is a bass, and can hit some crazy low notes. Kevin (the beatboxer) is a tenor, and also plays the cello. He doesn't sing very often, but it's always special when he does. The first three (the "trio") all have astonishing vocal ranges of four octaves or more. Avi can hit some surprisingly high notes for a bass, and Kevin's range is crazy too; he can hit very low notes as a beatboxer, and he hits super-high notes occasionally (he has the "diva notes" in "Imagine", for example, not Mitch).

I'm not going to freak out over the fact that you missed one of Avi's (he's the bass) best moments at 3:11. I'm not freaking out for two reasons. First, you are totally forgiven because you were asking a question about Kevin (beatboxer), whom we all adore. Second, I'm sure you watched this video a bunch more times. To answer your question: Kevin does almost all the percussion and sound effects, but works very closely with Avi and they sometimes overlap (Avi often does that "wind blowing" effect too). Mitch is also a good beatboxer. Any of the five is likely to contribute something at any time. But most of that good stuff is Kevin.

Yuppers, Kevin does indeed do most all of the sound effects, sometimes one or more of the others will fill in now that Kevin has taken voice lessons and is singing with them. He is however, their beat-boxer supreme. They do have one song where he plays his cello, their cover of "Say Something" and in a collaboration with Lindsey Sterling, "Radioactive". OK, I just subscribed. If your first two PTX reactions are any indication, I'm going to *love* your channel. Yes, I am a Pentaholic, as are a whole bunch of the people who have commented here. There is an entire TH-cam ecosystem based on PTX reactors, and you will see the same names repeatedly in the comments for people who regularly react to Pentatonix. My suggestions: since you are a PTX newbie: start with their "Evolution of..." videos: "Evolution of Music", "Evolution of MIchael Jackson" and "Evolution of Beyoncé" (preferably in that order). Then go to "Daft Punk" (their first Grammy-winning arrangement). Then take a look at "Love Again", "SIng", "Can't Sleep Love", and "Run to You" (four of their original songs, each totally different from the others), Then check out some of their collaborations, especially "If I Ever Fall in Love" (with Jason Derulo), "Radioactive and "Papaoutai" with violinst Lindsey Stirling (the latter track is sung entirely in French), " and "Jolene" (with Dolly Parton), for which they won their third Grammy. In "Radioactive" and "Papaoutai", Kevin (the beatboxer) plays the cello while beatboxing, which is a pretty astonishing feat. There are plenty of other vidoes out there, both covers and originals, along with many, many live performances, but I'd suggest that you stick to the official videos first to get a feel for the group before moving on to their live performances. There are a few videos which you should avoid *as reactions*: several of their Christmas songs (including "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy", their second Grammy-winning arrangement, and "Mary, Did You Know", which is gorgeous) and their cover of Meghan Trainor's "No". OK, I just subscribed. If your first two PTX reactions are any indication, I'm going to *love* your channel.
Yes, I am a Pentaholic, as are a whole bunch of the people who have commented here. There is an entire TH-cam ecosystem based on PTX reactors, and you will see the same names repeatedly in the comments for people who regularly react to Pentatonix.
My suggestions: since you are a PTX newbie: start with their "Evolution of..." videos: "Evolution of Music", "Evolution of MIchael Jackson" and "Evolution of Beyoncé" (preferably in that order). Then go to "Daft Punk" (their first Grammy-winning arrangement). Then take a look at "Love Again", "SIng", "Can't Sleep Love", and "Run to You" (four of their original songs, each totally different from the others), Then check out some of their collaborations, especially "If I Ever Fall in Love" (with Jason Derulo), "Radioactive and "Papaoutai" with violinst Lindsey Stirling (the latter track is sung entirely in French), " and "Jolene" (with Dolly Parton), for which they won their third Grammy. In "Radioactive" and "Papaoutai", Kevin (the beatboxer) plays the cello while beatboxing, which is a pretty astonishing feat. There are plenty of other vidoes out there, both covers and originals, along with many, many live performances, but I'd suggest that you stick to the official videos first to get a feel for the group before moving on to their live performances.
There are a few videos which you should avoid *as reactions*: several of their Christmas songs (including "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy", their second Grammy-winning arrangement, and "Mary, Did You Know", which is gorgeous) and their cover of Meghan Trainor's "No". These songs are subject to copyright strikes and you probably won't want to deal with that nonsense. By all means watch them, but don't do reaction videos. Almost all of the other official videos are safe, and won't result in nastygrams from the copyright mafia.

one suggestion, with pentatonix, i highly recommend using headphones to really appreciate Avi (bass)..its easy to miss out on the mind blowing things he does with his voice without earplugs..

I saw your suggestions, thank you for those. A lot of people wrote this so today I thought I was going to use headphones while walking to the grovery store. I had to stop every 30 seconds when someone made a cool beat, base or hit low/high note. Very unproductive walk to the grocery store. 😂
