    2:50 infocard!
    Also, in a world of FPGAs and Raspberry Pi -based hacks, its almost refreshing to see a project based around the simple PIC. Simple shenanigans

    Let me just say I appreciate how well you mic the controller and keyboards so we can hear each click and press. It’s actually kinda relaxing 😂

    toward the end of the Atari 130XE being any kind of sustainable home computer by the end of the 90s, when finding working joysticks became impossible or too expensive, i would use a Sega Genesis controller.

      Exactly. Especially analog sticks like the CoCo and Apple 2 demand. An analog stick can fake pushbuttons much better than any button controller can fake analog, intervening microcontrollers notwithstanding.

    I just received mine yesterday. Haven't had time to play with it yet, but I do remember using the previous version. It's nice to have options, but I still prefer a joystick over a game pad. I originally played my games on a Gravis joystick back in the day
    I hope you also have a stereo card for your GS, that makes playing IIGS games like Silpheed a lot more enjoyable.
    It's actually interesting that we pretty much did the same thing to our clear case GS, or as I call it my Not So Stealthy GS. The only thing I tried that I got from your videos was that clear monitor shelf.

    IIRC the GS also has the motherboard DIN connector for the older big metal box joysticks. So instead of going forward and using later console game pads, you could also go back in time to the 70s/early 80s with your GS! ☺ With all the ports, slots, ADB, and other connectors, the GS is easily the most expandable computer Apple ever made.

    Does the Genesis controller input mean you could use an Atari 2600 controller on it? If so that's certainly a roundabout way to use a more contemporary controller on the Apple II 😅

    • @bytebooster8196
      @bytebooster8196 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, you can. The drawback is that the Atari Joystick only has one button. But for Apple II games which need only one button it just works fine

    nes and snes controllers are simpler to interface, as they're just an 8-bit parallel to serial shift register and two of them cascaded, respectively. I don't remember but I think the mastersystem controller was similarly simplistic. somebody let me know about the later if you remember.

    • @bytebooster8196
      @bytebooster8196 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Sega controllers are even easier, im fact the are using one more control line to check the additional buttons, compared to the standard 9pin Atari Joysticks. The PS controllers are quite a bit more advanced using the SPI protocol

  • @sjftech
    @sjftech ปีที่แล้ว +1

    4:00 if it doesn't work with digital inputs, how come you're able to use the dpad on the genesis controller, the snes controller and the ps2 controller? I'm a little confused.

    • @bytebooster8196

    I love your videos...but...you keep listing links that either do not work or the product is constantly listed as out of stock as was the case with the Apple Squeezer.
    Don't you check these links out to see if products are available BEFORE you post the link ?
    Or am I too old school and expecting too much ?
    I think not.
    I have an Apple ][ E, GS, C, + and an integer based Apple ][ and would like to buy products but they always seem to be out of stock.
    The link for the ByteBuster worked and is in stock with some very interesting retro games available in my quick look.
