WB dropped the ball with this trying to piggyback Grindlewald on the back of Fantastic Beasts. They could've made a great stand alone FB where Newt travels to weird exotic places in search of weird fantasy animals. Then they could've done a whole trilogy on the Crimes of Grindlewald. Instead they mashed the two together and it doesnt do either justice.
I feel like this mirrors the Hobbit films a lot. Both the Hobbit and the first Fantastic Beasts have elements that would make them work better as more whimsical, family- friendly spinoffs with less serious stakes. But both franchises fell foul of tone-deafness, trying to be too serious, too grim, too complex and too meandering, which betrayed the fantastical child-like aspects.

I would say Tolkien would be another influencer on par with Lee and Lucas. He pretty much created modern high fantasy

I don’t understand why on earth queenie would go with grindelwald. Her main motivation is she loves a Muggle which is the exact opposite of grindelwald. Also thematically speaking making one of the only Jewish characters in the universe align with a hitler coded villain is very messy.
think you could count constantine as a character with depression and PTSD, sentry too. Tony Stark and Carol Danvers have both gone through depressive/self loathing/self esteem issues. the doctor has either got depression and covers it by running around having adventures or has bipolar.

The statue is basically Dragon Alley but then the bit where they are looking for Yusef is in regular Paris and by the looks of it so was the bit with the Zouwu and that's why Newt decided to go the the safe house straight away
Ive noticed that if Mason is not particularly invested in a franchise, unlike Marvel or DC, he will be incredibly forgiving. I trust James' opinion more.

I actually enjoyed the movie but they made some valid points. The plot of this film was VERY overloaded. You spend a good 30 mins of exposition on a sub story that ends up being irrelevant anyway. Hopefully by the third film JK has rediscovered the proper balance of story and action. I she needs to introduce characters to the non causal audience but a 10 min back story monologue for someone who won’t finish the film isn’t the way.
The original harry potters have such a completely different visual look than these fantastic beasts movies.
Fantastic beasts just looks so cartoony, compared to the older movies.
jeebs621 Have you seen the Sorcerers/Philosophers Stone? Those first few movies, when they were kids, are incredibly cartoony. I’m not saying the new ones aren’t cartoony, but they are not worse than the first handful of HP films.

We must have Star Wars news on this podcast every week for the rest of eternity. Even if they have taken a 10 year break and have not made any movies in years, we still need the Star Wars news. Forever.
The main characters in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. are really what keeps the show going. They really seem like a family, and that makes the show enjoyable to watch, for the most part. Sometimes the plot is boring to watch, but you're still kinda interested because the actors have so much chemistry together
I thoroughly enjoyed Fantastic Beasts: TCoG.

I think Rudolph the red nosed reindeer TV special is in a weird copyright limbo - the Roman numeral of the year of copyright was missing an M, making it copyright 1164 AD. I feel like wolverine is probably the most depressed fictional character in any medium. Especially old man logan. Life has been kicking the poor hairy lil guy in the balls on a daily basis for centuries but he faces his depression head on and muddles through. I'm not sure if that counts or if that particular listener was asking if there's a character that sleeps 20 hours a day and takes meds because the 2016 election gave him ptsd.

Kubo and the 2 strings is one of the best animated movies ever made! The stop motion is mindblowing, the story/script is brilliant, Voice cast are great, soundtrack beautiful honestly if you havent seen it why are you still reading this? Go! Go watch Kubo now!

Guys i trieeed to like it because you said good stuff about it, first couple of episodes on the 1st season were okay, but it just got so worse, the acting was cheesy, the story basic, and the effects were just not there. Sorey but i just couldnt, i gave up on the first half of season 2 episode one it was so bad and seudo-edgy and blah, that for me is one of the lowest, compare the quality to like better call saul, its night and day
